Are games (CoD Mobile, Fortnite, Clash of Clans, etc.) exploiting our Fear of Missing Out? (FOMO)

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 12:20 AM PST

FOMO is "a pervasive apprehension that others might be having rewarding experiences from which one is absent"

I see it everyday on online mobile games, it's not only on gachas or loot boxes, also on any temporary event.

For example, the other day I saw COD Mobile had 9 limited-time rewards and events running at the same time!! NINE! OMG . And I love CoD but I'm beginning to play it more than I really want

When I realise it, a lot of games have daily login. If you don't log in, you are missing that reward (which luckily is not always that "good") but cmon... those practices from devs are just CHEAP and manipulative

[Request] Energy-Based Strategy games similar to Force Arena or Titanfall Assault?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 06:29 AM PST

These games got me through some real rough Army stuff, and now that they're both gone I'm finding it really hard to fill the void they left... any recommendations bar Clash Royale?

I feel like I'm losing my mind. I swear there was a way to see how much time you had played in a certain game through Google Play Games and I can't find it anywhere.

    (title)

It really doesn't matter, and I'd probably be happier if I never knew how much time I spent playing certain games, but there's a part of me that really wants to know. I am almost entirely certain I saw a "time played" counter in the Google Play Games app at one point, but I can't find it anywhere.

    GPS games

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 12:23 AM PST

I currently play Orna, a fun GPS game where you are the character and you walk around in the real world to kill monsters, gain loot and get stronger. I love GPS games and would like another one to play, but cannot really find another fun one.

I played Pokemon go,Harry Potter Wizards Unite, Draconius go, The Walking Dead: Our World and Rescources but none of these stuck (for long) for me.

Are there any other fun ones out there?

Just finished To The Moon and my god! That is one hell of an emotional ride.

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 11:43 AM PST

The story is so charming and I like the whole character of River as a whole and I wish she has more spotlight in the end. But damn I seriously love the story of the game. Anyone who has not played it. I highly recommend it just for the story alone as it does not have much of a gameplay. It's more like a novel.

[REQUEST] I have some free space and I need games.

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 11:21 AM PST

Hi, just like in the title but to not break the rules: 1. Usually I play rhythm games, so anything but that. 2. Nothing (waaay) too difficult. I'm really bad at playing games. 3. Just anything that you would like me to play. 4. The weight and if it's offline/online doesn't matter.

Looking for a game or two to play at work. I've enjoyed games like...

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 08:27 AM PST

Hello, all. I'm looking for some recommendations for games to sneak in at work during down times.

Here are features/traits that are important to me for playing a game at work:

    Pausable at any time

No real involved/complicated story to follow

Ability to just buy the full game and not need to pay for additional micro transactions

Do not need to hold the phone like a controller

I like to have to actually think/strategize at least a little bit (i.e. not mindless or reflex-based games like runners)

Games with all/most/some of these traits that I have enjoyed in the past:

    Crowntakers

    Star Vikings Forever

Archero (until getting to chapter 8 and hitting the hard paywall)

Knights of Pen & Paper 1 (but 2 was better)

Knights of Pen & Paper 2 (until they completely screwed me be switching to a micro transaction model and erased all my progress)

    Battleheart

    Pokemon Quest

Postknight (until later in the game when it got too grindy)

    Pocket City

Games that I've considered buying (and would like feedback):

Crashlands - looks like great fun, just not on a phone (e.g. reviews say a controller is best and it's hard to see properly)

Stardew Valley - same concerns as above

    Golem Rage

    Evoland 1 or 2

Game types that I am not really interested in:

    Dungeon Crawler Rouge-like

    Tower defense

    Clicker/waiting games

And just for completeness's sake, here are some other games I've enjoyed, but don't think they'd be great at work:

    Flippin Legend

    Alto's Adventures

    Ski Safari: Adventure Time

    Pixel Dungeon

    Ninja Arashi

    Weapon Throwing RPG 2

Anyone have thoughts or recommendations for me?

AAA Quality Games with Gamepad Support.

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 08:19 AM PST

Well I just recently discovered I can connect my Xbox One controller to my phone and play games that way. I got a little clip that lets me mount my phone to the controller. Now I just want some good quality games to play. Been browsing this sub for a couple days and figured I'd just ask for myself.

Personally I enjoy RPG's, ARPG's, FPS games, pretty much anything. As long as it's not too pay to win. I'd actually rather pay for a quality game than something free that's got a ton of ads and makes you pay to progress.

Side note: I wish the play store would make developers specify if they have controller support and then add an icon or something next to the app.

Zombie Cubes 2 is finally released!

    Posted: 19 Nov 2019 07:56 AM PST

Is there some way to turn "do not disturb" mode while gaming?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 05:01 PM PST

I hope this fits the sub. There's one thing that bothers me while I'm playing: the notifications. I'm relatively new when it comes to playing on android systems. I know I could disable the notifications manually or put the do not disturb mode, but it would be a pain to have to enable and disable every time or play without sound. Is there any way or app that does this automatically every time certain apps open?
