Cheapest device that plays Netflix UHD HDR Posted: 01 Oct 2021 05:12 AM PDT I can't get it to work on my laptop; I bought a 4k projector and upgraded my netflix subscription just for it. I'm done trying to find a solution; my laptop seems hopeless. Bonus points if the solution also plays hevc encoded UHD remux files. Everyone says get a shield, but they are really expensive in NZ. For the same price I can get a Mi Box S for Netflix and a Raspberry Pi 4 with libre elec for HEVC files [link] [comments]
Google Remote vs. older Android Remote Posted: 01 Oct 2021 07:57 AM PDT My Tivo Stream 4k updated it's remote services program, so the Android Remote Application no longer connects. Very disappointed with the new program, so if anyone has solutions for these problems, please let me know.
If anyone has workarounds for the above it would be appreciated. About the only advantage I've found in the new system is you don't need to enter a new passcode each time the app connects via BT. If there are no fixes to these problems I've read I can just uninstall the update on the Tivo Stream 4k. Is there a way to keep it from reinstalling the update? [link] [comments]

Multi-Channel Audio via Apps (WiSA / eArc) Posted: 30 Sep 2021 02:59 PM PDT Thanks in advance for any advice. I have a Sound Sphere WiSA 5.1 sound system connected to my Sony A90J. When using streaming services like Netflix, I get proper 5.1 / Atmos sound, and I get a 5.1 signal when playing video files off of my laptop (I've used both Dolby test video and regular content). However when trying to play the same files from an App (VLC, MX Player, Kodi) the audio only ever gets put through as 2 channels. I've tried changing a bunch of setting, but am completely lost as to whether this is just not doable, is a TV issue, and app issue, or a Sound Sphere issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! EDIT: After resetting everything a bunch of times and toggling a million sound setting, enabling AC3 transcoding in Kodi seems to mostly be working. (I am fairly certain I tried this, but I may also just be an idiot. Will update if I find out more.) [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Sep 2021 08:47 PM PDT Okay, hear me out. We just switched out our old chromecast for the new ones with GTV. Our dog suddenly can't stand being in the living room, or our bedroom (where we also have one). She is fine until we turn on the tv, and is terrified of the remote. Anyone else notice this? I'm assuming there's a high frequency, but I just want to see if anyone else has noticed this! [link] [comments]
Help getting adb connection to Hisense TV running Android 9 Posted: 30 Sep 2021 10:06 AM PDT I'm trying to get adb connected to this TV with the idea to remove some of the pre installed apps (Vudu, Pandora) so I can free up some storage. The TV (H8G) runs Android 9 (Kernel Version 4.9.125). I enabled the developer menu, enabled the USB debugging option, and installed the adb package (I tried both under Windows and macOS). I know the IP is the right one and can ping and find the TV with nmap so that's not the issue. The error I get in macOS is In Windows I get more details Does anyone has any experience getting these TVs to connect to the debugger? I don't have a USB cable with two male ends to try a USB connection and I don't feel like trying to find one if it is not going to work anyway. Let me know if you have any ideas of what could be the issue. Edit: I should probably add that I don't get a popup on the TV to authorize the connection, and I tried rebooting the TV a couple times as well (hold power until reboot option appears, choose reboot).
