Is the Nvidia Shield redundant if you already have a 4K Android smart TV?

So, I just bought a $700 Hisense ULED TV. 65" and it's a beautiful panel. I want to game on it but wondering whether the shield is really worth it JUST for remote gaming. I feel kind of silly spending an additional $200 on the shield pro if the only added value is gaming in 4k. Thoughts? Thanks

Philips Ambilight remote stopped working after update

    Posted: 08 Sep 2021 04:45 AM PDT

I bought the TV that was released in June 2020. The remote's keyboard and voice recognition does not work anymore with apps, including YouTube. The front of the remote works normally. The mic isn't picking up any sound for some reason. It was after the latest TV update. Is there any way for it to work again?

Edit: The update unpaired the remote from the TV. So I pressed the pair button for 3 seconds and it fixed it.

    Samsung Nu7400 and Q800A soundbar - Dolby Atmos/DTS:X

    Posted: 08 Sep 2021 12:34 AM PDT

Probably this has been answered in some form, but I don't know where to start.

I recently bought a Q800A soundbar, and I plan to add SWA9500s as rear upfiring speakers, capable of Atmos.

The problem is that my TV (NU7400) is not capable of reproducing Atmos or DTS:X. I've seen that the solution potentially could be an S905X3 tv box + Coreelac, but I'm not sure if I understood correctly.

    Steps would be:

    1. Connect my soundbar to TV using ARC HDMI,
    2. Tv to Box using the other HDMI
    3. Allow audio passthrough on my TV box?

I'm not really sure that I understand passthrough, would that mean that my TV will handle the signal, and then again it won't be able to play Atmos or DTS:X?

Or since the soundbar is capable of 4K video passthrough, the steps should be:

    1. Connect my soundbar to TV using ARC HDMI,
    2. TV Box to the soundbar using the other HDMI on the soundbar
    3. Allow audio passthrough on my TV box?

Is the official Twitch app just not good?

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 07:59 PM PDT

My Twitch app doesn't refresh properly. I'll watch a stream for a while, go back to the home page and it shows me streams that were live when I originally turned on the previous stream (or opened the app) I was watching, but aren't necessarily still live. The opposite is also true, new streams that went live while I was watching aren't shown. The UI just isn't refreshing with new stream info when you exit a video.

Cannot connect Sony Smart TV to guest Wi-Fi

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 05:59 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I want to isolate my Sony Smart TV on his own network using a guest network, but it refuses to connect to it, I tried both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. It only connects to the guest network when I enable ''access intranet'' in the guest Wi-Fi settings, which I don't want for obvious reasons. It also had no problem to connect to the main Wi-Fi.

I after learned that Google Android TV doesn't offer the feature to connect its Smart TV to guest network...

My question is, what should I do if want to isolate the Smart TV from my main network.

    Thank you in advance,

    Chromecast with Google TV

    Posted: 08 Sep 2021 05:29 AM PDT

I see there is a power adapter for this device that has an ethernet port. Pricey though. Are there any other compatible adapters with an ethernet port that I can use? I'd love to be able to stream 4k without buffering and in high quality.

Located this article which might be of help - https://googlechromecast.com/best-usb-c-hub-for-google-chromecast-with-google-tv/

Xiaomi Mi TV 4X 43, shuts down everytime instead of standby mode or sleep mode.

    Posted: 08 Sep 2021 04:36 AM PDT

I just got my first android tv the Xiaomi Mi TV 4X and whenever on the remote I short press the power button it shuts down complete like it even shoes the android shutting down screen and then when I press the button again to turn it on, it completely starts up from scratch and takes 2-3 mins while doing so.

Is there a way around this or a setting I might've missed? Its really really irritating to wait such a long time just got a tv to turn on.

Sony Bravia 49x900E and Turtle Beach

    Posted: 07 Sep 2021 11:04 AM PDT

I'm using a Turtle beach 700 gen 2 to connect to my Sony Bravia 49x900E through bluetooth. The problem I keep encountering is that the TV resets the BT vol to 0 everytime the headset is turned off. For some strange reason the last firmware update turned off BT volume settings unless there is something connected. BT is on...volume is always 0 until you manually raise it in the settings. Which you can't do because the BT volume options are not available until you connect something.

Also, once connected the headphones are listed as a remote and not a headset device. Is there a way I can get into the TV android settings to change how this headset is detected by the TV? Can I change something in the android settings to always have BT volume at 100? I appreciate all the help I can get here...it's super annoying to have the headset auto power off after 5 min of no sound and even more annoying to have to manually change the BT volume settings every time I turn it back on.
