Is there a way to extremely minimize android consumption? Posted: 01 Sep 2021 07:50 AM PDT As the title suggests, I'd like to turn an old android device into an "E-reader" so I don't care if every function that doesn't belong to reading is obliterated. Any tips? [link] [comments] |
Is there an alternative to the One UI share screen? Posted: 01 Sep 2021 12:02 PM PDT Whenever I share through any app I get the default share options on my Galaxy note20. This screen has a lot of issues for me. The suggested contacts are always people I never speak to. A lot of the apps I use the most to share to like discord and snapchat have multiple entries on this screen. If i pick the wrong one, I get an error which causes even more issues. Is there an app I can use to substitute this screen, similar to how you can use a different home screen compared to One UI? If not, are there settings to make this share section more bareable? My apologies for the questions, i found this a difficult topic to google as i'm not sure the proper terms. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Sometimes searching for installed apps using search bar only shows internet results instead Posted: 01 Sep 2021 12:46 PM PDT I have a Pixel 4a and I like to search apps by there name cause I think it's easier than seeking it out all the time. I use the little Google search bar at the bottom of my home page. Sometimes when I search for an app, the app shows up. Sometimes I just get results from the internet (IE googling Venmo instead of pulling up the app). Has anyone else noticed this? [link] [comments] |

Samsung Internet/google dark mode Posted: 01 Sep 2021 07:14 AM PDT I am having an issue that I hope yall can help me with; My google search page is stuck in dark mode.... Web pages are loading normally (not dark), and I turned the theme to "light" in the google app. Its only the google search in my samssung internet app that remains dark. When I change google accounts the search page returns to light mode, but logging back into my main account puts it back to dark. I have cycled the settings and restarted several times, with no change. I have The phone is on light mode, and so is the samsung internet. I dont want to take it in for something so minor, but I'm not sure what else to try to fix it on my own. I have not seen a similar issue in my internet searches. [link] [comments] |
Android phone call audio only coming from speaker phone, not the ear speaker Posted: 01 Sep 2021 09:09 AM PDT Hi, So about a month ago, for some reason, my calls, both on google voice and the normal phone calling app, have all had the audio changed. It used to emit audio from the ear audio segment of the phone, like a normal cell phone, but at some point the section the audio was emitted from changed after an update I think and it's as if it's permanently on speaker mode. While I can usually hear the other person, it creates an effect where the other person can hear themselves talk and causes discomfort for them. Can't seem to find where the setting for this specific issue is on my phone. Any help would be great! Thank you [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Sep 2021 08:30 AM PDT Hi - new here, just looking for help, sorry if this violates rules. Ok! I really want to make the switch from an iPhone to an Android. However, I have over $2 grand of music that I've compiled over years of having an iPod and iPhone. I don't want to lose that investment and just switch to a streaming service. I really, really like my music and I've spent a lot of time gathering a huge amount that I really enjoy. I don't want to start from scratch to recreate my library. Now that Google Play Music is gone, is there any way at all to still listen to my music on an Android device and continue to buy songs the way I like? I suppose I could pay for Apple Music and do it that way, but would I still be able to buy from iTunes through that service and store it on my Android device? I really don't want to be reliant on paying for a streaming service in order to listen to my music (as my finances can sometimes be tricky, I'd rather just ... own it outright.) Any thoughts/advice/help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks <3 [link] [comments] |

Keyboard blocking text field on Instagram Posted: 01 Sep 2021 11:52 AM PDT I have a galaxy note 20 and the keyboard almost always covers the textfield in Instagram dms. I have the navigation buttons hidden on my phone, i only use swipe gestures and I don't want to have to turn the navigation buttons back on for my entire phone. I've tried multiple keyboards including the Samsung default and nothing helps. [link] [comments] |
how do i run apps from sD card on a samsung galaxy a01 (Android 11) Posted: 01 Sep 2021 11:42 AM PDT I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy A01 running Android 11, and the internal storage is getting quite full. I've been unable to figure out how to move apps to the SD card. I go to Settings > Apps and enter individual apps, selecting Storage, but there's no option to move them. I can't find a solution in Settings > Battery and device care > Storage either. Did I ignorantly get a phone too cheap to support this feature? Thank you. [link] [comments] |

Samsung S21+ force apps to not waste top half of screen? Posted: 01 Sep 2021 11:03 AM PDT I just got this phone yesterday, and I really want to love One UI...but coming from a Pixel 3, I hate it. I've made as many changes as I can to get it close to Pixel...but the default Google Messages is even One UI themed!!! I wouldn't mind this if it didn't mean half the screen is useless. Is there any way I can basically force One UI apps to open in a way that content actually takes up the entire screen? I can't ditch Google Messages because RCS. No replacement for Galaxy Wearable, Settings, etc. I would root/unlock bootloader and ROM it but Google has made it so that features break when I do. Things like mobile payments, etc. I think it's called SafetyNet?? I stopped modding when that all started. I could probably get used to One UI's waste of screen real estate...but I don't want to if I can change it without breaking features. Any advice? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
UI glitch or are "disabled" apps actually opening with every update? Posted: 01 Sep 2021 10:51 AM PDT I have an nVidia Shield TV just for sideloaded JellyFin, VLC and Firefox and I have disabled a lot of apps on it I don't need like Google's services and preinstalled stuff. These apps have been disabled for maybe 12+ months but last week I noticed they nearly all have an active "Force stop" option when "managing apps" in the system settings - implying they may be open. I did force-stop them then - and they are almost all reporting as open once again... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Sep 2021 03:16 AM PDT My city implemented QR code readers to pay for trips when taking the bus or train. How it works is you download the app then put money on the app, which is when your credit card gets charged, and then you "activate" a ride which is when the app generates the QR code that you show to the reader on the bus or train. Thing is, whenever I get to the step where you show the QR code to the reader, google pay pops up like "oh, do you want to add a credit card to your google account?!?!" Every damn time. It happens so fast that the QR code reader can't read the code and i can't pay for the bus or train. I had to talk my way out of a fine the other day. I have tried googling my problem, funny enough, and nothing. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Sep 2021 10:41 AM PDT My phone is from an city i lived a long time ago and literally know no one there any more. All i get is spam calls from that area code. Would be great if i could just block that area code completely on my phone. Any such options on Android? I'm running Android 11 on Xiaomi mi note 10 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Sep 2021 10:40 AM PDT Hi guys, quick and short. Is there a way I can take away system privileges from an app? I was thinking about something like Magisk's App Systemizer but the other way around. I know I can delete them through ADB, but I just want to restrict what they can do. Otherwise, is there a way to revoke specific permissions from system apps? I'm on a rooted MIUI phone. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Sep 2021 10:36 AM PDT I have a pretty old tablet, a Samsung Tab 10.1 from 2012 I guess. The thing is that it has Android 4.0 and can barely use any apps I need to work. I've found couple of videos where guys would update it to Android Nougat, but is not an official software. I have my concerns about it being insecure whereas I'll be putting my Google info into it. Is there a reason to be afraid or precautious? [link] [comments] |
Cant move apps too Sd card on LGk30 Posted: 01 Sep 2021 06:47 AM PDT How do i get the change button too appear after i go to settings>Apps & Notifications>App Info>An app>Storage>(no change button) even with netflix. [link] [comments] |
Using an Android and iPhone, text message questions Posted: 01 Sep 2021 06:41 AM PDT Hello, sorry if this has already been asked but I did a quick search and could only find info on switching from iOS permanently and not temporarily. I recently bought a new OnePlus 9R and I want to use it as a second phone, swapping the SIM between my iPhone occasionally. I put in the SIM from my iPhone and turned off iMessage and facetime, my girlfriend had to send a few iMessages and then hold down the bubbles and press "Send as Text Message" before they started going through as SMS naturally. On the other hand, I tried having my mom do this and her texts were just not going through on one of her iphones but worked fine on the other. I'm probably going to be swapping the SIM between phones every couple weeks and don't want to have to do this hassle of telling iOS users to manually send a few iMessages as texts every time I swap. Thanks for any help :) [link] [comments] |

Is there a specific permission for "Allow App Installations from Unknown Sources"? Posted: 01 Sep 2021 04:07 AM PDT Permissions such as android.permissions.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, etc. I've tried looking through the permissions in adb before and after granting this permission through settings and can't seem to see a difference in the app's permissions. Is there no way to grant this "Allow App Installations from Unknown Sources" permission without going to the device settings? [link] [comments] |

Android notifications not playing sound through speakers including alarm Posted: 01 Sep 2021 09:07 AM PDT Some backstory, this is a refurb replacement Pixel 3 XL, it is running Android 11 (RQ2A.20405.005) and I'm using Google Fi. When I received the phone the system notification sounds worked through the speakers but as soon as I started letting everything update nothing works. Which is fine for the most part since I usually run silent but this is also affecting the Alarm. I've even connected to Bluetooth and had all the notification sounds run perfectly through the bluetooth speakers. Anything but system notifications play audio on the phone speakers. I've checked every setting in Sound & Vibration setting, nothing seems to be set "off," all volume sliders are max at this point. Do not disturb and silent are off. And just now playing with the 4 sliders, "Ring & Notification volume," and "Alarm volume," play no test audio to determine the volume while "Media Volume," and "Call Volume," do. I would prefer not to factory reset since I've already had to jump through hoops for things like Signal groups. [link] [comments] |
