Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:11 AM PDT Is Anyone else not getting Gmail notifications all of a sudden? I have a pixel 4. Randomly last week I stopped getting popup notifications. I've checked all settings, sync, cleared cache and data and restarted. Still nothing. Edit: Well it somehow just started working on its own. [link] [comments] |

Use both cellular and WiFi at the same time Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:42 AM PDT Is there a way to set up a load balancing system where some connections use LTE/5G and others use WiFi? I'd like to get super fast speeds by parallelizing connections with my unlimited cellular data. [link] [comments] |
How to know if the developer from XDA is reputable/trusted? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 05:42 AM PDT So i wanted to download the custom rom for gt-n5100. The problem is the official download can't be access anymore, so I have to find an unofficial one. Here is the link It's more updated and still maintained. But how can I know if this developer is trusted? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2021 04:28 AM PDT I just "upgraded" to 11 I like the speed of the system but a few things are bothering me Looking for a root app to prevent start up of some apps and How , for the love of God, can I get rid for gestures and go back to the 3 buttons on the bottom? I dont like this gesture stuff. I am an old person and hate it. This is a Moto One Hyper if that helps. Is this possibly a Motorola app doing this? If so, I have root and will be MORE THAN happy to chuck it [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:06 AM PDT Hello everyone, I've had call recording apps on my phone before and they were working fine when I needed them, so I deleted them after as I no longer need them. But now I need them and I am not able to record calls at all, it says I am recording etc and it tells me the call is recording but after I end the call did not record whatsoever. This is the case with multiple apps, not just one app. I heard something alongside android banning call recording and what not. Please can someone advise me if its my fault or what I need to do/enable. Because the app support says they cannot seem to figure out this problem. I tried to record on an Samsung Galaxy S8 and A40. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Can a Virus Using a PDF Infect Your Phone? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 12:33 PM PDT Im on a Samsung Galaxy S10. I did open a PDF from someone recently and my morbid curiosity arose. If someone was to actually try and infect my system with a virus, spyware, whatever you want; Would it be possible on an Android Device? I mean I know at least for Windows they're possible because they abuse some aspect of the Viewer which you're using to actually open the PDF file. On Android however, does it work in a similar manner? If I download a PDF from discord, open it in a viewer (Lets say Camscanner, yes I know not the best viewer after their whole debacle), is it sandboxed somehow? In a sense where unless I hard click on some link to download some external APK to fuck with my system it shouldn't do anything? Im not too familiar with how Android works internally. Does anyone have any idea how to answer this question? Is there a way from the size of the PDF file I could tell if it's possible containing something within it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jun 2021 01:38 AM PDT i'm going to buy pixel 4a. currently the price is 315eur (from google). should i wait until 6 comes out, for the prices to drop? or does that not usually happen? how was it with the past models? [link] [comments] |
Google now feed not working with action launcher Posted: 28 Jun 2021 06:10 AM PDT Hi, I'm trying to use action launcher on my vivo x60 pro plus to get a little more customisation. The Google feed plugin seems to continuously misbehave...and gives the error "Failed to connect to Now feed. Reload and try again?" I only found one such report where the OS was Android go, but I don't have the same on my phone. Any help will be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Buying new phone but already have an active phone and plan Posted: 28 Jun 2021 12:06 PM PDT Hello, I want to buy an android phone to try it out. I have an iPhone and a plan with Verizon. Can I just buy an unlocked phone and swap the SIM card in? I also see most stores sell it for a certain price if you activate it then, vs activate later. Would I be activating it to work on the Verizon network, but not creating a new line? Or choose activate later and never actually activate it because I already have an active sim? Thanks for any help! [link] [comments] |
Designing for Android app visual specs - device widths Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:48 AM PDT Hey folks, My design team and I are looking to develop an Android app and because many are so centered in iOS the Android understanding is greatly less. (I'm on of 3 out of 100 that daily drive an Android-powered device) To my understanding the design view port varies a lot between devices. Samsung used to be 360 across many of their devices, but, I was curious if there was an easy way to check for this in a easy-to search manner. My go-to is to load up somewhere like PhoneArena, search devices, look at resolutions, and doing a little math from there. However I know this isn't as reliable as I know this can change depending on the device too. For example: Would an S10 be 360, or 411? Depending on the device itself I know it can vary even at a 1440x1080 width (native-resolution) width. Is there a database or site that has these easily listed? [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to recover videos from an android device i no longer have Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:21 AM PDT A while ago one of my old YouTube emails got deleted and half of the videos on them where from an android device that was destroyed and couldn't be fixed [link] [comments] |
Telegram old messages/chats being deleted? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:19 AM PDT I only use telegram on Android and I've noticed when I go back on old telegram chats, some of it is missing. Like I'll message someone every day but I'll search an old message from a year ago and when I scroll down there will be weeks or months worth of gaps within a chat. Asked my friend who I'm talking to and they say they haven't deleted any messages. Under Storage usage: I have keep media set to "forever." I have not cleared the cache nor the local data be either. Posted: 28 Jun 2021 11:00 AM PDT Hey all. For a few months I've been struggling with messenger not popping up with new messages before I actively open the app. Sometimes I will get a notification, but most often not. I think all sleep settings should be okay, but maybe you could help me which settings to check? Thanks in advance 😊 [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:17 AM PDT Hi /r/AndroidQuestions. I'm sure this is a common question but I had trouble searching for recent relevant posts. Does anyone have a recommendation for a kid's tablet? I figured just about anything that runs Android will have the ability to watch Netflix, Plex, Disney+, etc. as well as download just about any kid-appropriate games. My wife suggested a Fire HD but I really dislike the way Amazon limits what these devices are able to do. I thought about getting one of these and rooting it, but have seen some posts indicating that this can be difficult and break some functionality, and that these devices are pretty underpowered anyway. Should I go with a Fire tablet and try to root? Is there a different make/model of tablet that doesn't break the bank and doesn't have all the privacy concerns associated with an Amazon device? Avast Android 11 Install Problem Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:03 AM PDT Hello, some weeks ago i installed on Android 11 Avast from an APK file. I'am using it one week, and then i'am uninstall it. Today when i'am trying to install Avast from an apk file, it said app cannot install, but i don't have installed Avast. And when i'am using the samsung app security, i see the com.avast.android.cleaner. But in app list, they are no Avast app. I used SD Maid, but it is always not working. Can someone help me please? Deleted 700mb worth of files and cache, restarted my phone and space barely went up.. help! Posted: 28 Jun 2021 08:50 AM PDT My phone just hit 0mb, so for a quick moment, I deleted some files on my phones, ranging from pictures, videos, apks and such on my phone. Not only did I count up how many files should I be deleting, my phone itself from the settings app told me that the data and cache both round up to about 700mb. I deleted both of all data and cache, it got up to 300mb which I thought was weird, restarted my phone, and upon restart- it went down to 60mb of free storage, checked my settings again and the data and cache was already deleted, but my phone's free storage is 60mb, even though it should be 700mb.. this is confusing me. A few question about the google pixel 5, also about android in general Posted: 28 Jun 2021 03:51 AM PDT Hi, i have owned an iphone X since 2017 and i've always used iphone almost all my life, now i wanna go to android because of flexibility, features and also my iphone x gets pretty hot and lags when it gets hot, So i found the pixel 5 which seems to have the same screen movement i am used to, and i think i'll be getting it in a few month, do you guys think this is a good idea ? do you think it's a good phone to switch from an iphone X ? should i get something higher up in price ? Also, is the battery better, does it get hot like the iphone for regular use ? is the camera better or equal and what are some good android exclusives apps, or similar to iphone apps like google maps for plans and stuff like that ? thank you very much edit : since yesterday i started using the google eco system on my iphone (google photos, drive gmail stuff like this to get used to it so all google apps i already got) [link] [comments] |
Need help picking a budget phone Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:19 AM PDT Hey guys, I'm looking to replace my iPhone 5S as it's barely holding on, but can't decide between a really cheap refurbished Pixel 3, a more expensive Pixel 4a/ OnePlus Nord or a refurbished iPhone XS. I'm in the UK, so I'm only looking at amazon currently and I can find these prices: - Pixel 4a (New) - £300 - OnePlus Nord (New) - £340 - iPhone XS (Refurbished) - £300. The main reason I want to switch is because my 5S has shown issues with its microphone, lags and crashes often, can't get iOS 13 (and hence Strava), and generally really poor battery life. The battery can be replaced I guess, but I think it's time is due. I don't care much for camera, don't really game on it, and am very curious about rooting it. I'm a PC guy who loves to tinker with tech, and iPhone always felt very restricted. I also want to spend as little as possible, as I spend most of my time on my PC/Switch and really only use the phone for running, youtube, mails, messenger, etc. I can't decide if getting a refurbished old model like the Pixel 3 is not bound to end up in the same condition as my 5S in not time at all, with no software upgrades soon, but it's really cheap compared to the rest. 4GB ram coming from the 1GB I have now will be totally fine though. Pixel 4a and OnePlus nord seem the same to me, find very little difference. And finally, the iPhone XS is more expensive, but given how long my 5S managed to last, I feel that this option will be the most valuable in the long term, if I can get another 4-5 years out of that XS. What are your thoughts and suggestions? [link] [comments] |
