Android x Samsung Galaxy | A foldable future Posted: 30 Aug 2021 01:30 PM PDT

Posted: 30 Aug 2021 12:12 PM PDT I didnt know and didn't realize that almost all of the newer "all size screen" phones had virtual proximity sensors and didn't have a light sensor but use the front camera for adaptive light, which is battery consuming and is subpar solution. I had very bad experience with a new phone and couldn't believe that I didn't hear about this earlier and it seems that nobody cares about this. The slimmer bezel that would incorporate proximity and light sensors and superior front camera is obviously better solution. Also the screen wouldn't have cuts and holes and the watching experience would be better. I can see Asus phones (Rog and Asus for snapdragon insiders) and Sony phones are making phones with full bezels again. And hope Samsung will catch it too again (A9, S9 were good examples) and can incorporate iris scan and 3d face scan. [link] [comments]

Very underwhelmed with all of the current Gen offerings Posted: 30 Aug 2021 11:41 AM PDT And this is the first time I've ever felt that way. I've used nexus and pixel devices almost exclusively for the last 7-8 years, demoing other devices (I've used probably 40+ different Android devices over the last decade, which was in part due to a cool perk of being a manager at a phone repair shop where we bought phones and I was able to demo them) from Motorola and Samsung and HTC and LG and Apple. My personal phones that I've actually bought for myself worked through were the Droid 1, Droid 2, Note 2, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S6, Nexus 6P, Pixel 1 XL, Galaxy S7 Edge, Pixel 4 XL. Almost every one of those transitions were monumental, but several of them were breathtaking. Leaping from the S6 to the 6P was such an incredible one, and I remember feeling very overwhelmed by how beautiful the UX/UI was and how thoughtful everything felt. The Pixel XL was another step in that direction, handling a phone that once again felt overwhelmingly thoughtful. And then again, the Pixel 4 XL - beautiful experience. But the Pixel 5, for a newer flagship, felt underwhelming. None of the Motorola phones felt exciting. Samsung's One OS feels bleh. I think I still would have preferred stock Android, but again, the Pixel 5 just didn't excite me. I ended up scooping up an s21 ultra, because the priorities I have for a phone are good battery, charges well, and great camera. So this phone checks those boxes, but otherwise, my initial impression is just kinda eh. The phone is uncomfortably heavy, its thickness from front to back of the phone makes it feel bulkier than any phone I've ever had, and the loss of removable storage feels like a downgrade. And again.. on the surface,, Samsung One just isn't anything to write home about. Wondering what everyone else's thoughts are on this? [link] [comments]
