I wanna recover some files but my phone is in charge only mode, so seems like the pc doesnt even detect it. I tried OTG but it either doesn't work on my phone or i need to activate something to enable it. Is there any way i can solve this without fixing the screen ? | Help finding a good quality 90 or 120hz phone for around 350 USD or less? Posted: 14 Aug 2021 12:11 PM PDT I'm looking to get a second phone to go alongside my iPhone 12 as I'm a big fan of both Android and iOS. Only problem is when I'm using one OS, I miss the other. I've tried looking around but there are so many different Androids since I last had one, maybe you guys can help me! The one phone I found that I really liked was the Redmi Note 10 Pro but at 76.5mm wide I wouldn't be able to use it comfortably one handed. The main things I'm looking for are 90 or 120hz Battery that lasts at least a day - I don't need a giant battery that lasts 3 days but that would be a plus Decent camera Not too big of a phone - Something similar in size to the iPhone 12 or Galaxy S10. 70-72mm width would be nice. UI - So far my favorite experience with my old Androids were #1 the Pixel, #2 OnePlus, and last Galaxy S7. I like stock or vanilla Android but not a deal breaker, if it has a nice skin with not a lot of bloatware that's perfectly fine too. Thank you for any help! [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 14 Aug 2021 11:48 AM PDT I have some news apps that constantly send me notifications on news articles to read when I either move my phone or set my phone down after being used. It appears it's using the motion sensor to sense when my phone is active and then bombarding me with notifications as soon as I'm using my phone. Is there a way to prevent this behavior in Android? I still want to use the app and receive notifications, I just don't want them to receive them when I first start using my phone after it's detected motion. [link] [comments] |

| Is it impossible to hardbrick a phone nowadays? Posted: 14 Aug 2021 11:31 AM PDT Hi, I haven't used Android in many years. I am considering switching and one thing I was thinking about was to get something like a Xiaomi Poco F3 which seems quite powerful and cheap and flash a rom from day one since I don't want any of that MIUI stuff and would like something closer to stock and with less Google (and chinese) stuff. My worry is to get a new phone and flash a rom in day one and brick it. My question is, is it even possible to hardbrick an Android phone (such as the Xiaomi Poco F3) nowadays? I understand the bootloader accessed trough fastboot command is the only actual delicate part and that alone is/should never be touched. I assume trough a combination of timing I can always access fastboot when starting the phone. If I don't attempt to change the bootloader, is it even possible to hardbrick my phone forever? I understand I can always use fastboot to flash a new rom or recovery. Is this true? When I flash TWRP can I destroy the bootloader? How can I actually change the bootloader so I know what not to do? Posted: 14 Aug 2021 11:16 AM PDT I hhhhhate doing a Google search for a Reddit search and I open the link and it takes me to the Reddit thread and my two choices are continue with chrome (and only read a few comments) or open up the official Reddit app, which I don't use because I'm not an idiot. | Does anyone know how to restore data from google backup using a non-active set? Posted: 14 Aug 2021 11:09 AM PDT When trying to use the token for a non-active set with bmgr in adb, logcat shows that there is no secondary key, which I'm assuming is the backup encryption password. bmgr also doesn't have an option to accept the password. Is there any way to restore app data from a set that's not the current one? After a while tho the same problem has come back that the videos playing in whatsapp are off centre. So far I've tried reinstalling whatsapp Zooming in and out of the videos Turning phone off and then back on again Letting battery die to 0 and then charging and then turning on again If anyone could help me would very much appreciate it. Posted: 14 Aug 2021 09:39 AM PDT I'm trying to teach my dad (71yo, missed the tech train loooong time ago) how to operate his phone but one of the main issues is that he can't aim properly at icons, let alone letters, and often touches part of the screen that are not supposed to be touched. Is there any app or anything that could help him improve this skill? It might feel very natural for us but for elders might confuse touching and pressing. Any suggestion will be of great help. | Which app controls the Google ads I see in games and apps? Posted: 14 Aug 2021 09:23 AM PDT I use an Honor 8X (with EMUI 8.2 which is basically Android 8) and it has a feature to firewall-block apps from using my internet. I've been using this feature to stop apps from giving me annoying video ads for a while but lately it seems that the feature doesn't work anymore on apps that use Google ads. I can block the app from using my data or WiFi and it will still give me ads in-app while functionality that requires internet will not work. So this has me believing that Google have a seperate app that controls ad implementation delivery in all the apps that I somehow can't track down. If this is the case, can someone tell me the app that's responsible for ads? Or alternatively please tell me how to indefinitely remove ads from all these annoying apps (most don't even have pro versions so that's annoying). Many thanks. Posted: 14 Aug 2021 09:06 AM PDT So I am working on a project with appium which helps you automate processes like logging into apps, pressing buttons, swiping, etc. Right now I have my old Pixel 3 plugged in for this. I want to get a couple more phones I can use for this which are relatively cheap. The pixel 3 I see for like $90 on ebay so I am thinking about getting those. But I do not need 64GB - maybe only 16GB. All I care for is fast speed, and good internet connection, and an Android OS which can download apps from the play store. I don't know where to start doing research. I came across something called the blade A3 prime for $50. I know there are some good cheap chinese phones out there but I also know there are some really bad ones. In other words, I am looking for a cheaper phone with the speed of a Pixel 3. | How to get images from WhatsApp to show in Media Gallery on Phone (Motorola M100) Posted: 14 Aug 2021 07:34 AM PDT Hello, you nice people already helped me once with solving a problem, today I have another, weird one (at least for me!) TLDR is at the bottom of this post: As I wrote in the title, I can't see any WhatsApp media in the Gallery. So if you google this problem, it says to make sure that "Media Visibility" ist turned on. This is turned on, I also restarted the phone already. Second step they mention is to remove any I am using Piktures as my gallery app, Not any super fancy app, but it worked well on my old phone, also with showing all WhatsApp images. But not on this new Motorola Phone. Reason why I want to see the images: To delete the ones I don't need anymore and to also move them to the SD card if I want to keep them. TLDR
Edit: I didn't download the old images from a backup or anything since I have all of them on the SD card anyway. The phone is now around over month old and I only care about the new Whatsapp images. The ones that were sent in the last month (and all the ones in the future) Maybe someone else with the same phone had an idea? It is stuck in recovery mode and the only things I can do is to reboot it (doesn't work), connect it to the Mi Assistant (doesn't work) or wipe all data which I highly don't want to do.
