Posted: 27 Aug 2021 11:38 PM PDT Hey there , I use a galaxy note 10 plus and here's something interesting i noticed yesterday . I created a new account on my instagram and wanted to keep it private from everyone on my previous account (mostly my phone contacts). I uninstalled insta, installed it again and in app settings disallowed it from using both contacts and call data. Then, signed in with my new account and boom my contacts appeared in the suggestions . I didn't expected that so went back and cross checked the app settings (phone data was still disallowed) . Next morning, started receiving requests from my contacts . The only thing i didnt wanted to happen . Can somebody please explain this phenomenon. I might be wrong somewhere, as iam no pro . I am leaving my home and want to leave an android device video recording. I want to be able to watch the stream live remotely on another device. Preferably a free app with the ability to save the stream to the sd card. | Process system isn't responding? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 11:47 AM PDT Mother in law has a Samsung tablet CE0168, which I can assume is pretty old by the looks of it. On each boot up, the tablet responds with "process system isn't responding", and basically can't do anything. Battery displays 0% although fully charged. I can enter settings for a small bit of time, but it eventually errors out as well. I've tried removing the SD card and I've tried wiping cache partition from recovery mode. Each to no avail. Any help or advice to get this thing back up and running (if possible) would be great! Thanks! [link] [comments] |

This seems to block the "dismount USB" notification from popping up, so I can't dismount the drive properly. | Stock text messaging app on Galaxy Note 10 keeps taking the area code off of phone numbers Posted: 28 Aug 2021 10:31 AM PDT Seemingly randomly, my phone will decide to take the area code off of a number in the middle of a text chain (EVEN THOUGH I have the area code stored on all my contacts), forevermore causing me to have to manually start a new text chain with the contact every time I want to text them. Deleting the contact doesn't even work. Google is no help - the search algorithm thinks I want phone phishing scam advice. Anyone found a solution to this? [link] [comments] |

| Can my phone get a virus from the outlook app? Posted: 28 Aug 2021 03:48 AM PDT I know this question gets asked a lot, but I have very bad anxiety issues and I'm freaking out :( I got an email notification and opened it, took me to the email, which was a very fake looking amazon link, saying something about my account is blocked or whatever, I didn't click anything but the notification which opened the email. Outlook said it blocked the images it tried to load for my privacy, which i think is for the tracking they can do idk. My anxiety is telling me that it installed something in the backdoor, and all my phone data is compromised and my life is about to fall apart. I ran 2 Malwarebytes scans and it said nothing, I heard phone antivirus was dumb anyways but I'm very scared. I heard android phones do this "sandbox" thing that doesn't let apps or whatever do what I'm describing but idk. (if you could explain this I'd appreciate it) I just want some clarification on if this is possible and if i should be worried, I have bad anxiety so even though I might sound annoying or paranoid I'd appreciate some resolution. I'm running MIUI and can access my files perfectly from my File Explorer app and from system Recovery (TWRP), yet I can't do so from my computer. Both of these folders appear empty. It should be noted I can acces them from my PC if I boot into recovery, the problem seems to just happen in System. I have enabled Debbuging (all options), I select MTP when prompted and have tried granting my PC su permissions. Nothing works. I can see the contents of other folders, just not the /Android ones. It's worked well since she got it, but it updated overnight (Thursday into Friday) and is now asking for a password/pin to allow access back into the phone. My mom has entered her standard pin (her birthday, so she's definitely not forgotten it) and it won't accept it. She's tried it so many times, she now has 1 attempt left before it factory resets, but she wants to try and save the photo's of the grandkids. Could the update have taken it back to my sister's pin or password for log in? If push comes to shove, is there any way to save the stuff from the phone before I hard reset it? TIA. BUT I'm realizing after two days of scratching my head and tech calls, you can only track location through Samsung account not google account. | Messenger contacts in quick share are irrelevant and arbitrary Posted: 28 Aug 2021 01:53 AM PDT Whenever I want to share something via quick share, the contacts row (above recommended apps where you can pin specific apps) is filled with Messenger contacts I've never even actually messaged a single time before, nevermind recently contacted. Is there any way to affect what contacts it pulls up? You'd expect it to show most recently contacted people or most frequently spoken with, but I can find no pattern whatsoever. It appears to be entirely random and I believe, unchanging. Whatever arbitrary contacts it decides to pull up the first time seemingly stay there permanently unless you go to Messenger settings and clear storage for the app. The list is then updated with contacts from other apps, in my case Twitter, despite not having DM'ed anyone on it for over a year, but at least it shows people I've actually spoken with instead of random people I follow. Again, I don't understand why it does this, instead of, for instance, pulling recent contacts from Discord where I've spoken with people most recently. This all changes the moment I open Messenger after clearing data, then it replaces the row with the same arbitrary contacts, none of whom I've ever messaged before. Is there any way to get it to behave more sensibly or to just remove the suggestions outright without rooting my device? [link] [comments] |

| Missing widget resize handles on Samsung A52 5G Posted: 27 Aug 2021 11:51 PM PDT I feel like I'm being dumb here, but does anyone know any reason why I can only resize the widgets on my homescreen horizontally, not vertically? The top and bottom handles are entirely missing, so I have a widget that should be a thin horizontal strip acting like it's square, with empty space above and below taking up half the screen, and no way to squish it and remove that dead space. I spend all this time making different categories and tabs that I want to save, just to tap on some magical button and everything is deleted. What TF, Google? What TF is the purpose on that?? And the thing is, it isn't a one time thing. It keeps happening over and over again. As soon as I get my tabs back saved, I somehow hit some button when I go to open another tab or something else. It makes no sense. I look at every button I could even tap on and there's no button that would erase every tab. It makes me just want to delete and quit using Google Chrome altogether. | Burning / smoking charger on Xiaomi Mi9t Pro Posted: 27 Aug 2021 10:35 PM PDT Hi, I'm not sure what to do after what happened. I left my Xiaomi Mi9t Pro charging for an hour, but when I got back I felt a very strong smell of burning and, removing the cable from the phone, it was literally smoking (the cable) and had the plug completely melted. At the same time, the phone was so hot that I myself had a hard time touching it, despite having the cover on. I removed the cover and kept it in the freezer for a few minutes to cool it down. Now I don't really know what to do: the phone seems to work perfectly and I obviously threw the charger and the cable that has melted, but I'm afraid the phone will explode in my hand at any moment. Everything seems to work perfectly, only the type c port seems slightly "dirty", but the melting occurred mostly on the cable, not on the socket. Trying to charge it with another charger doesn't seem to give any problems and the battery life seems unchanged at the moment. Advice? The phone was bought from a Chinese store in November 2019 and I don't believe there is any valid warranty. Among other things, of course, the charger that melted was not original. Edit: Small update: after charging the smartphone in the morning without any particular problems, a few hours after the accident it no longer seemed to want to charge. I turned it off and the upload icon appeared again. When it is off it recharges, when it is on the icon appears but the battery percentage remains unchanged. I'm taking it to a service center, hoping it's just a battery and type-c plug issue. [link] [comments] |
