Posted: 18 Aug 2021 02:00 PM PDT I just got a new phone (LG V60) after my old one died and I'm finally stuck with a notch after successfully avoiding one for the last few years with how few phones DON'T have them (Sony's still an exception, but they're generally way overpriced and never discounted). Rant aside, one thing that's really bothering me with the notch is how full screen apps (games mostly) try to fill in the notch space, highlighting the awful notch all the more. Is there a way without root to force Android to limit full screen apps to the main rectangular area of the screen without drawing behind notches/holepunch cameras/rounded corners/etc? Honestly I would rather have the fullscreen apps just draw black bars there (clock and notifications would be fine) than to highlight the stupid things manufacturer's have been doing with phone screens in the last few years. I have a Galaxy S10+ and wondering what other people's experience and knowledge is about it all. I had to give up on the Anker wireless charging stands after trying 2 of them and so now back to just plugging phone in. (I'm not the only one having problems with wireless charging stands/pads either, but that's a whole other conversation or rant I should say) Anyway, just curious about them because they are all over Amazon, but have no idea if they are worth buying? I can charge the phone, the screen works, but without the buttons I can't start it. Is there a way to recover the data ? | Google is using 24 hours of screentime a day. Even when my phone is off. Posted: 18 Aug 2021 08:34 AM PDT Something is definitely wrong here and I'm wondering if anyone is having the same issue. I noticed yesterday that my screentime was unusually high even though I wasn't using my phone as much as i normally do. When i clicked in to see what was using all of my screentime it showed that Google had used 24hrs of screentime that day. I know for a fact i had not constantly used my phone for 24hrs. I can also confirm my phone's screen was off for a period of time so i don't know how Google could've possibly used 24 hrs of screentime. This issue just started yesterday and it's continuing today. | Posted: 18 Aug 2021 12:12 PM PDT i recently received a very long text + after trying and failing multiple times to download it , it now says "preview not available" under the text box . my APN settings are all definitely correct + i have tried clearing cache , resetting my phone , and forcing the "messages" app to stop . it still shows "preview not available" rather than the little circular arrow that usually implies "reload" that was initially under the SMS . any idea how i can download this full text ? | Help needed for PDF files going to the printer every time Posted: 18 Aug 2021 05:07 AM PDT Help! I accidentally selected "HP print service plug in" to open always when I click on a PDF file. I want to clear this setting so that it asks me what app to use each time I click on a PDF but I can't figure out what setting to clear. I went to the App Settings for the HP plug in but there was nothing in there about defaults being set. I uninstalled the HP plug in but now the print job seems to go thru the Samsung print service plug in and it still goes to the printer. So annoying. | Whatsapp folder not showing in internal storage Posted: 18 Aug 2021 09:36 AM PDT Hi guys, i have a problem with one of my smartphones. I use WhatsApp, and i receive and send photos on daily basis. I can see the photos in the Gallery, but when i access to internal storage with the file manager i cant see the Whatsapp folder. I know where it is because in the gallery photos on details I can see the directory (Internal Storage/Whatsapp/media) but it's not showing when i access through the file manager. In my other phone and my working phone i can find it, but in this there is literally nothing, no Android folder, no Whatsapp folder... only some album folders. Is it technically possible that the previous owner could have rooted/unlocked it, installed tracking software, then unrooted and relocked the bootloader? | Could you help me with this gboard issue, please? Posted: 18 Aug 2021 05:12 AM PDT Hello, I have Realme 7 and I noticed this issue with gboard - it's the stock keyboard my phone came with and I didn't really switch any settings; also the theme was set to auto, because I use scheduled dark mode. The thing is when I started to type it was okay, fast and no problems BUT!!! When I typed for a longer period of time (long message) I noticed that the typing got slower. I don't really know how to properly describe it or due to what this happens but it's super annoying since I type mostly long messages. I went to gboard settings and changed the theme from auto to a stock colour - I typed a few messages and the issue seems to be fixed even though I'm not 100% sure yet. Have anything like this ever happen to you? Is there any sort of bug connected to auto theme mode? I tried 3rd party keyboard (Swiftkey) and the issue wasn't there but I don't like that keyboard, so I'd be happy if gboard worked properly. [link] [comments] |

| App Restart button has suddenly disappeared from my phone Posted: 18 Aug 2021 04:38 AM PDT After flashing to a custom ROM of Android 12 Beta 4 for POCO F3, I've noticed that in some games I have the ability to completely restart the game, by hitting an appropriate button at bottom right corner. Sure, many people would dislike it, except me, when to interrupt a D4DJ multi-live session (that is NOT a battle live), you must first completely close out the game, and then open it up.
