| Android keeps waking me up in the morning Posted: 30 Aug 2021 10:29 AM PDT I fall asleep with my earbuds in. Often, at random times in the morning, Android will wake me by saying "It is 7:34 am." | Posted: 30 Aug 2021 12:16 PM PDT So I normally get notifications of articles that may interest me. It's a handy feature for keeping up in the tech/gaming world for me. Usually when I click on the notification, it takes me straight to the article. Here in the last week or so, it will take me to a generic google search. For instance, I got a notification about FFXIV and their server congestion issues. I click on the notification, and it loads up a Google search result of "Final Fantasy XIV", almost like Google is googling things for me. I'm not sure if they lost rights to directly linking articles or if it's a setting I accidentally changed. It's not a terrible thing, but sometimes the generic google results list several articles that I have to sift through until I found the one I was notified about. It's not like I go to my Google feed and when I click on an article it takes me to a Google search, so why are my notifications doing that? Thanks for any help. I hope I'm not the only one with this issue and sound like some crazy rambling man... EDIT: I may have figured it out. I think I left a Google search in the Google App itself, and I guess it decides to keep notifying you about what you searched for...? We'll have to wait and see. | App that allows voice callers to leave Voice message on Phone rather than using SP voicemail service Posted: 30 Aug 2021 02:07 AM PDT My provider charges £1.50 per message to listen to voicemail. On top of the £54/month contract I'm locked into it's extortion, so I disabled call forwarding. However now I can't receive any voicemail if I'm unable to answer. It was over a decade ago, but I installed an app on my mobile which allowed callers to leave voice messages on my phone which acted as a virtual answering machine. Maybe it was possible back then because the technology was simpler, but I can't find any kind of app that will do this. I've searched on Google and Play, but I can't find anything. Search results seem to be something called "visual voicemail", (even Samsung, my phone is an Galaxy S10+), but researching them they don't seem to do that. If I understand correctly they take your voicemail and convert them to text? I don't know if they record the calls within the app, I think they fetch them from your SP? Or maybe I'm just not understanding the app descriptions because I can't imagine there's not a real need for something like that, especially as SPs commonly fleece you for voicemail. I also tried searching here but I could only find posts on issues with the SPs voicemail, or again this Visual Voicemail. Any suggestions much appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 30 Aug 2021 11:46 AM PDT At the moment I have an iPhone 11 Pro and I am wanting to get a dual SIM card phone and all o can find is android phones (I don't mind switching) but I would like to keep my UK number (easy) but I would also like another SIM card for international calls and texts to Saudi Arabia (mostly) and would ideally prefer to have a Saudi number (+966) as my dual sim to make it easier for customers/businesses etc to communicate more easily with me. Steps for me to replicate are: 1.Call Contact. 2.Phone rings (I hear the ringing) 3. Call is connected 4. No sound from Caller Only fixes I have found are: 1. Restart phone, it will go away but eventually come back at a random time. 2.Put phone in Airplane mode then off. It happens so random to try to catch what's happening. Does it on Bluetooth... | how to add a verification email feature to my app Posted: 30 Aug 2021 09:39 AM PDT I have been trying to figure out a way to make code to send a verification email, after countless tutorials and stack overflow threads i found this: being new to android studio and using java I completely fucked up setting up the first few times ive tried it. But when i finally ended up with something that has no errors and can run on an emulator. No emails were sent. Im not sure why as I'm very new to all this. might be something to do with network operations that dont work without asyncTask or intentService activities (according to that thread) but when i looked those up they were deemed as outdated by android studio and google documentation threads. TLDR- i cant send emails via javamail in android studio, but id like to learn how too/use possible alternatives anyone got any ideas on how to do this? any resources or yt tutorials to help would be greatly appreciated! | Rooting / flashing a device without bootloader access Posted: 30 Aug 2021 08:13 AM PDT I'm determined to root and/or flash my Oppo A72 because I can't stand ColorOS. It seems that accessing the bootloader is pretty much impossible, but EDL is available. There are some Realme phones with similar specs too, like the Realme 5 which also launched with ColorOS and is flashable. I'm not too experienced with low-level modifications, but the kernel source code is also available for the Oppo. Would it be possible to flash a custom bootloader through EDL or maybe even a custom firmware directly? Are there techniques to find an exploit? Someone has decrypted the ozip firmware files and through these you could in theory patch Magisk, then encrypt again and flash through the stock recovery. [link] [comments] |
| Pixel 3a XL Stuck in Headphone Mode Posted: 30 Aug 2021 08:12 AM PDT I have a Pixel 3a XL which has been the best phone I've ever owned until this past week. Out of nowhere, the main earpiece speaker stopped working. What I thought was a dead speaker issue became trickier when it suddenly started working again on its own just a few days later. Then, this past weekend, it stopped working again. I noticed that when I plugged in headphones, it would work just fine, but when I removed the headphones, where most music apps might stop playback, my phone kept playing. This indicated that perhaps the headphone jack sensor/contacts were not detecting the presence/absence of headphones properly. I tried playing around a bit, plugging and unplugging the headphones. Sometimes, it would result in the speaker playing audio just fine, but after a few minutes, it would go back to headphone mode. I downloaded a "Disable Headphones" app which allows you to disable the use of headphones from a software end. This worked and allowed me to hear properly from the earpiece/speaker. However, there remain some problems.
I have tried rebooting and blowing compressed air into the headphone jack. The compressed air sometimes does get the headphone issue cleared up, but after a few minutes on its own, it will revert back to headphone mode. Are there any other troubleshooting steps I should take before taking it in to a repair shop? I would like to confirm for certain it is an issue with the headphone jack so that I don't pay for a repair that doesn't end up resolving my issues. Any input and guidance is welcome. It's Android 10, and a couple months ago it had an update that changed the interface, i don't know if it had the option before that. Is there any way that I can make this option appear? | S10e boot loop even after flashing Posted: 30 Aug 2021 08:08 AM PDT To give some context, my S10e (Verizon) decided to boot loop out of nowhere. Since this happened, I have factory reset the phone, no success. I brought it to a local repair shop who said they couldn't fix it. Now I have flashed the phone with Odin and despite the phone being flashed it STILL is boot looping. At this point, I'm assuming something went wrong with the hardware but I don't even know where to start with that. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. [link] [comments] |

| Broken sd card after formatting with xiaomi redmi note 7 Posted: 30 Aug 2021 06:56 AM PDT So I have a sandisk 64gb sd card and a redmi 32gb phone, I wanted to expand my storage but when I pressed use as internal storage it started formatting and then restarting my phone getting it stuck on a bootloop, after putting it into my pc nothing happened. Could I have fried the card? How can I check? If I put the card back into my phone it gives me just one option to fix card but if I do so it just gets stuck on a bootloop again. The cell reception symbol is showing a solid triangle with an X in the bottom-right corner. At first, I thought this meant my SIM wasn't activated, but my SIM is activated and I can make calls just fine. Note: the X is not to the upper-left of the triangle, it is in the bottom-right corner of the triangle. I have a voice+text plan, so I am guessing it might mean, like, "cell reception with no data".
