Introducing Unlinked - Make your Own Custom App Library (App Store). A free, minimalist Filelinked alternative.

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 04:11 PM PDT

Unlinked (v1.2.2) - Create your own library (apps, videos, pictures) and access them on your tv & mobile devices, and share them with friends.

For those of you who used filelinked in the past, you will find a similar, yet greatly improved experience with Unlinked!

This app has been built from the ground up and has all of the features required to suit your file sharing needs. This app is useful for accessing apps that are not yet available on the playstore, like netflix mods for certain devices, and to help developers easily distribute their apps.

It is also great for custom stores to easily install your favorite apps, and easily support friends and family and their devices. Below I will explain how to create your own Library (store) and how to access a library on TV & Mobile devices.

    Demo

Complete video demo of the Web app and Android TV app can be found here (please scroll down).

    Android TV demo

    Demo library

You can use library code 'formuler' to browse a demo library to get a sense of the experience.

    E2E Zero Knowledge encryption

Your data is encrypted using your password so only you and who you share your library with can see the contents of your library and nobody else.

    Creating your own Library:

    • First, head over to https://unlinked.link and click on Register at the top. Create your account and then login.
    • Then, click on Create New. Give it a name, description, and welcome message if you wish. Enable a pin lock if you'd like (not required) and then click on Create.
    • Now you will see the library you just created. To add files to it, click on Files. Then click on Create New. Here is where you enter the Name, File URL, Description, Logo URL, and Tutorial URL. When you are done, click Create. Repeat the process for all of the files you'd like to add.
    • Now click Dashboard near the top of the screen. You will see your library's code on the top right of the library.
    • If you'd like to create and assign a Vanity (custom) Code to your library, click on Vanity Codes. Then click Create New. Then, erase the random code that is in the text field and type whatever code you'd like. Must be 8 digits or more, Can be letters, numbers, or both. Then, Click the checkbox and click Create. Now click your library that you'd like to assign this to below. It will turn blue and that means it is assigned. Now both your original library code AND your Vanity Code can be used to access your library!

How to access Libraries on TV & Mobile Devices:

    • First, Download the latest version of Unlinked by either using downloader app or any web browser and type in the address (http://go.aftvnews.com/40869)[http://go.aftvnews.com/40869][http://go.aftvnews.com/40869]). With downloader app you can type in just 40869. When it prompts you to Install, do so. You can also type in https://dl.unlinked.link in your browser.
    • Then, launch the Unlinked app. Upon launch it will automatically update if one is available so you never have to worry about keeping it up to date!
    • Now, hit Add a New Library. Type in either your original Library Code or your Vanity Code in the first field, then hit enter. If you created a pin, it will now ask you to enter it. Now the welcome message will pop up, hit back on your remote and you will now see your files!
    • To download an app, hit it once, it will download. Once its done, hit it again, then hit launch and install the app and that's all there is to it!

When can I buy this in CANADA?!?! The Walmart ONN. $30 Android TV UHD Streaming-Device

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 09:08 AM PDT

Does anyone have any idea why I can't get the awesome Walmart version of Android TV that is similar to the $69 Google TV ?? Ebay pirates are selling it for $70 despite it being $30 at Walmart US. I live 6 km from a US Walmart but I can't border cross and nobody seems to mention anything about when Walmart Canada will get it - which I find odd.

Anyone tried this on their Android TV Box (Chromecast with Google TV)?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 09:24 PM PDT

For longer Android versions support, is it better to have Android-TV box, than a TV with Android-TV ?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 01:38 PM PDT

I'm thinking of buying a new TV set.

I've noticed that many TV sets nowadays (at least in my country) don't seem to have latest Android TV versions, and I suspect they also don't get support of new versions for long.

I think it's much worse than on smarphones, even though the prices are much higher and people don't get new TVs as often as a new smartphone.

Is it true? How long have you guys got new updates for your TV sets that have an Android TV ?

Or maybe some TV manufacturers do a good job in providing updates for a long time? Or have some way to flash new Android TV versions? And I guess custom ROMS are out of the question :)

Maybe it's better to buy a TV set without checking anything about the OS (even non-Android-TV) and just connect an Android TV box, like the "chromecast with google tv" ?

Another form factor is the hardware itself. I've noticed that some TVs are quite slow, and I think the TV manufacturers don't put a good SOC inside, probably to save cost and because users don't care much about it.

Did I get hacked (Android TV - MiBox) - If so, what next?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 10:33 AM PDT

Hello everyone, gonna try to make this brief.

I have a MiBox on Android 8.x. I like the older, simpler builds.

Last week or so, I kept getting a random RSA Key prompt. I searched for the MAC, couldn't find it in my network, but finally hit OK on it a few days ago, thinking who could be trying to hack me and why?

Anyhow, this morning, my TV, Box turned off unexpectedly. Came on in a few minutes, by itself and it looked like it had be factory reset on the set up screen!

Before I could figure out what was happening, I saw the RSA Key box pop up again, and this time, the checkbox was checked by itself and it felt like someone else was in control!

I quickly killed the power source of the box, disconnected the Ethernet cable.

Question is, did I actually get infiltrated? How serious is it, if I did? What actions should I take to be secure my network first and can I use this box again?

    Please help!

Help with question I have about CCWGTV remote pairing

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 06:06 PM PDT

Hello everyone, I'm here to ask if someone could please attempt to pair their Chromecast with Google TV remote to a smart Android TV (preferably a TCL model, since that's what I have)? I'm contemplating purchasing a 'replacement' CCWGTV remote from Google so I can replace the cheap plastic one included with my TV, but I'm not sure if it would work. The main reason I'm unsure is because of the IR functionality on the remote, if it is required to use the volume, input, and power buttons, or if it can be programmed without buying the whole set with the dongle.

Thank you, and if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Help with external storage on my Android TV Box.

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 10:39 AM PDT

I unmounted my USB Drive in ES File Explorer. All my Tv Box folders vanished. It would not even restart . I plugged out the power and plugged it back in, The folders of the Internal storage came back.

However, my USB drive is now detected as an SD Card. ES File Explorer and Xplorer File Manager let me read and write onto the drive, but FX gives me this error when I try to give write access to the drive : https://imgur.com/a/Vsw06zC

Any idea what I could try?

    Hear me out

    Posted: 23 Jul 2021 02:17 PM PDT

I love using google Chromecast with android tv but id like a smart speaker to use with it. I have google nest and nest hub but I don't believe there's a way to use them as a sort of surround sound for youtube and such. Now I know this sounds wrong but is there a way to use a homepod mini as a workaround. I love the homepod mini as well and was just wondering, thanks.
