Link Google TV Profiles to Service Profiles

Yes, its probably a long shot, but getting nowhere with search and google.

My wife and i have separate profiles on all our streaming services (Apple, Netflix, D+, P+, Hulu, etc). I love the idea of content discovery on Chromecast with Google TV and set up separate profiles for my Wife and I. It seems though when you click to watch something, it goes directly to the last used profile on the streaming service. Does it remember which profile was used per profile, or will it always use the last profile? Seems like this will poison the in app discovery and watch lists. Especially a problem since we only have GTV on our main tv, and the other tvs still have Roku. Just about to cut the cord and trying to figure this out before i return the equipment

    How to fix this?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 02:23 AM PDT

Just updated my Android tv and since then I have this recurring issue. If I use any apps on the TV or even have the home screen open after a few minutes the screen blacks out and switches to either the live tv app or hdmi1. It does this even if I'm streaming Netflix on the TV. But it doesn't do it if I use my playstation or other devices on hdmi. How do I fix this?

    Noob help

    Posted: 31 Jul 2021 12:26 AM PDT

I have a Sony Bravia 900e. I'm streaming movies on cinema HD app but it's buffering and impossible to stream 4K or even 1080 at times. Would I benefit from getting a 4K fire stick? I have BT fibre internet.

    Cheers

Picture settings not working on downloaded apps (Philips Android TV)

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 09:55 PM PDT

So I recently bought a Philips Android TV and was excited that I would get to sideload apks just like my phone. I installed Smart Youtube TV and everything was going fine until I noticed that changing the picture settings (color temperature, contrast,...) had no effect while using the app. In fact, it doesn't work while using apps I got from the Play Store either. It works just fine on built-in apps though. It's a shame because the default picture settings are sub-optimal at best. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Amazon Prime HDR10 Issues

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:15 PM PDT

    Hey all,

I'm not sure yet if this is an issue with my tv (Hisense H9G) or the Android TV Amazon app but I'm leaning towards the latter. However, I get these crazy blotchy patches of backlighting only when watching hdr10 content on Amazon.

    I can confirm a few things :

DV titles on Amazon look fine. (They are rare but Jack Ryan is one) Vudu HDR and DV look fine. Amazon HDR10 through the PS5 looks fine.

All of the above leads me to believe there is something up with the way they render HDR10 content with their app. Wondering if anyone else has come across this and/or found a solution.

    Expanse ps5

    Expanse android tv

    Expanse ps5 w signal info

Expanse android tv w signal info

Color depth being the only obvious difference, I verified Vudu hdr10 and DV which look fine are 10bit.

What is org.droidtv.xtv on my Philips TV?

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 01:18 PM PDT

    Hi,

Can't find any information about this package. What is this? Because after few days the package uses all available RAM on TV, which causes whole TV lags and other apps killing. I have few megabytes of ram left and zero swap.

The only way to make TV work normal is hard restart it.

This is RAM stats from adb shell:

Which device will be a good fit for me

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 03:00 PM PDT

Hi everyone, thought of asking here after I was confused with a lot of searching over reddit / google / youtube.

I am looking for a device for the following uses:

    1. Stream/Cast youtube from our android phones to TV with the ability to close youtube app on the phone and switch to other app on the mobile (so the device can continue to the play the video which was originally cast).
    2. Project my entire mobile screen on the TV. This will also allow me to play saved videos from my mobile on the TV.
    3. Project my windows laptop screen on the TV - exactly like a HDMI cable. Ability to select "Extend" option would be a plus but a basic projection functionality like a wireless HDMI cable suffices.
    4. For the above options, I should have the ability to pair my Bluetooth headphones with the device, so the audio can be played in the Bluetooth headphones.

    Note :

    • My TV is 1080p. I don't have any 4K requirements in particular.
    • Remote is optional
    • I have no preferences on Netflix / prime or any other app compatibility on the device as I do not use any of these apps.
    • Device purpose like mentioned above is essentially to use it like a wireless HDMI to project laptop / mobile content on TV + YouTube being the only other priority

From all my research, I understand that the latest Chromecast with Google TV (not sure of previous generation Chromecast) has the ability to do all this including Requirement 4.However I am getting quite confused if this is an overkill as I am not able to identify if other devices such as Previous Generation Chromecast, Mi Box, Roku TV, Firestick etc will be able to do the same. Looking for an optimal solution that can suffice my above requirements and not looking at other fancy stuff..

Paramount Plus is promoting a show on CCWGTV, but still not an option when searching for their shows

    Posted: 30 Jul 2021 02:43 PM PDT

I see for the first time an ad for a Paramount Plus show (Behind the Music), but it still won't show the streamer as an option for Picard or Discovery. So maybe a slow integration? Am I correct in thinking that even a promotion on the main screen by them is news?
