| SD Card Question about Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Posted: 20 Jul 2021 05:44 AM PDT I have an old Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime with 1 gb ram and only 8gb of storage so i decided to buy an sd card, I don't know how much sd card memory my samsung phone supports? what does the sd card do? Does it increase the speed along with storage will it be worth buying the card? Also I saw the different kinds of micro sd cards 100mbps speed 50 SDHC SDXC etc will all micro sd cards be compatible with the phone ( below storage limit) ? Thanks in advance :D [link] [comments] |

| AT&T dropping support for Redmi Phones? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 12:02 PM PDT Hello, I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 on an att prepaid mobile plan running Lineage OS 17.1 Today, AT&T literally diverted a phone call I made to a pizza place to inform me that I was losing service by the end of Feb. 2022 because my phone does not support 4G LTE service. I quickly informed the salesman that my phone does indeed support 4G LTE, and that I've been using 4G LTE on the Redmi Note 8 for over a year. Yet he was adamant that my phone did not support 4G bands. After much confusion and a little Googling, it appears that all major networks in North America will be fully switching over to VOIP (VoLTE as they like to call it) service and away from SS7 switching technology in early 2022. AND that only phones specifically whitelisted by the networks will be allowed to operate on the new network. I called T-mobile, which specifically lists Xioami as one of it's supported OEMs. I got a hold of a technical specialist who confirmed, indeed my phone is completely 4G LTE capable across many major bands but is not whitelisted by T-mobile either. So.. is this the end of my 1 year old phone? It sounds like a lot of people who travel like me with non-U.S. bought GSM phones are going to be completely screwed by this? Where is all the out-rage? Am I really that small of a minority? TLDR: I think I won't be able to use my phone in North America soon because all the carriers decided to block it from their new VOIP network next year. | Posted: 20 Jul 2021 11:45 AM PDT Before anyone bitches, I own both numbers. They are both my personal devices, I am not spying on anyone. I want to be able to text/call from not my main phone, but use the number of my main phone. I have been using TMobile Digits, but... I don't love it. It doesn't give me the best results on calls, and texts don't always come through, plus the main phone is missing my side of the conversation. I can't move the sim over either. Basically I want to spoof my second device as my main device. I am 100% okay with the main device getting the notifications, I just want the second to get them, and send as if it is my main as well. I'm testing the second device for the manufacturer, and they supplied a sim for it, and a plan. I need to test the device with that sim, but I can't do a good job without changing the number, as I don't want to get all of my contacts to switch, to what might not be a "permanent" number for me. I have transfered everything but calls, and texts over. As those let me "hot seat". I can't root the second device. I think I can root my main (not sure if there is a root available...). And if a root on the main will work, I have no issue leaving it running 100% of the time at home as a "server". Neither device is a Dual SIM phone, or I would just do that. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:37 AM PDT After digging through the internet, trying to find a TWRP for my phone (Vivo Y81i/Vivo 1812/MT6761), I realized there really weren't any developers that took notice of this model and cared enough to create a custom recovery file for it. As a potential alternative, I looked into how to create one myself or somehow automate the process to create one without trying to find a finished product. Here's what I got so far:
Don't get me wrong though. I haven't tried either of these and merely stumbled upon them as a last hope, sort of. These can't have mostly positive ratings if they aren't worth something. At least, I think so... [link] [comments] |
| Samsung S9 DCIM/Camera folder shows as empty on PC Posted: 20 Jul 2021 10:46 AM PDT On my Samsung S9 I'm no longer able to download images from the Camera folder over USB on Windows, which I had been doing fairly regularly.
What I've tried, without results:
Articles on the web about this problem say the data of the Media Storage app should be cleared, but there is no such app on my S9, or at least not visible. I thought about clearing the data of the Gallery app, but I don't want to lose my favorites. Any ideas how to solve this problem? [link] [comments] |
| How I can backup Apps and there data before switching phone and restore there later? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 06:58 AM PDT I have Realme X3, I want to switch my phone to another android phone. Can any one guide me to backup and restore? Thanks [link] [comments] |
| Is there any way to access the files on my locked phone? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 10:27 AM PDT The screen on my Samsung A3 broke, so I can't see anything and can't use the touchscreen either. Replacing it with a new touchscreen costs more than a new phone, so I won't be replacing it. The phone does work, eg. it sounds when I plug in the USB cable and it vibrates when switching in. The problem is my data is on the phone and I can't access it. The phone is locked with a pattern. I tried plugging in a USB mouse and it does kind of work, I can feel the phone vibrates when I drag it. I spent over 2 hours and haven't been able to draw the correct pattern (letter L). I tried connecting it with a HDMI adapter, but nothing was displayed on the screen. It's possible that the phone doesn't support this. USB debugging is disabled so I can't use ADB. Google's unlock feature doesn't work because it was never enabled. Neither does Samsung's unlock feature, because I don't have a Samsung account. I tried dr.Fone but it also couldn't do anything. It told me to hold the down key, then the up key... I'm guessing that at some point I did enter the boot menu, but after that I couldn't go forward. Is there any way how to get the data on the phone? | Adoptable storage/SD Card transferred to internal storage question Posted: 20 Jul 2021 10:03 AM PDT Hi everyone, I'm asking the question on the topic above since I want to buy a SD card and use it as my internal storage, but I would like to know if I will still be able to use the phone's internal storage if by any chance I remove the card and if I can revert the default internal storage back into the phone's storage. Are any of what I asked possible? [link] [comments] |
| Transparent nav bar in ALL apps? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 09:54 AM PDT Running android 10 is there any way to have the nav bar constantly transparent, better yet also the icons, but maintain full functionality. I'm not a fan of pills at the bottom with gestures. My muscle memory is too used to flicking between apps and recents with a quick tap at the appropriate corner that using gestures feels SO sluggish and counter intuitive. My dream setup would be to have the nav bar fully functional but fully transparent to get a full screen experience. I've tried numerous apps and Google searches but I have never been able to find anything. It must be a thing though 😔 When using the reddit app infinity, they achieve this constantly transparent navbar. So it must be possible? This is the first app I've seen do this. Please help. | Im having problems with my S10+ Posted: 20 Jul 2021 06:00 AM PDT I will delete my post soon Im new here and i dont know if this post follows the rules. So i have a galaxy s10+ and its really good and everything runs smoothly, but from like 3 days ago i noticed my phone is always hot and the battery runs out so slow, and my games and everything are really slow. I looked on the internet and it said your ram and storage and stuff might be full, but ive only used 53% of storage and i installed some app that removes a bunch of usless stuff and cools down my phone, but it did nothing. I havent done anything weird or installed anything weird so im sure i dont have a virus but i dont know why my phone is so hot and slow. Its sad because now i cant play any games they run so slowly. There is one thing that might cause it I have over 2000 screenshots of random stuff but that hardly makes a dent in the storage the apps are the biggest storage takers. I dont know if this is the right sub but if somone can help plz do and thank you I will delete this post if its wrong ☺☺ [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:43 AM PDT I have a samsung a11 and I dont know if its just me fat fingering it but I keep accidentally screenshotting so is there anyway I can change/remove methods of screenshotting? | How can I get files from a dead phone? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:36 AM PDT I have a google pixel 1, and my battery has been going steadily downhill. Over the past week or so it got very bad, to the point that it will not turn on, even while plugged in. I am getting a new phone soon, and would rather not pay for a new battery for the pixel 1, but I need my files. I leave it charging for several hours, it should easily be at 100%, but when I power on, it dies before it gets to the lock screen. The bootloader works fine (apparently doesn't use enough power to kill it), and I do have usb debugging turned on. Is there anything I can do to access my files/photos? Most are on the internal storage. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 19 Jul 2021 11:51 PM PDT Hi everyone, thanks in advance for reading. My mother in law is not very tech savvy and has had her Samsung S21 Ultra for about 6 months. Overnight, all of her contacts have been duplicated and all have random numbers of different lengths between 11 and 18 digits added to them. These random numbers look nothing like phone numbers, they have no country codes or area codes etc they look genuinely random. She clicks on dodgy links quite frequently and downloads questionable apps, normally we can help figure out the problems she's having but I can't think what could possibly have caused this to happen! Initially we thought she must have pocket dialed the random number and then added it as a contact but for all of her contacts that would be highly unlikely. If anyone has experienced the same problem or might know what's going on I would love to hear from you! If it helps, we live in New Zealand and she is on the Spark network. Thank you! | Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:30 AM PDT Like title says, I have a customer that traded in a busted S7 Edge. Basically I need to get the IMEI to process the trade but the back is shattered really bad where it's etched in the glass and the screen doesn't work for me to navigate settings, its just dark green any time power runs through it for 30 seconds. Anyone have any idea of any software out there for a windows PC or something that I could plug this phone into that would simply tell me the IMEI? The screen works exactly long enough to grant my PC permission to talk to it, then it goes green. Very frustrated they don't print it on the sim tray like Apple does, this is turning into such a nightmare lol. Appreciate any help! Thanks! [link] [comments] |
| Removing primary email from phone Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:27 AM PDT I have two emails on the phone, one personal and one business. Changing jobs my business one is no longer active and I need to remove it from the phone in order to get my Google services active again. How do I do that? [link] [comments] |
| How to forward calls from one number to another Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:24 AM PDT I'd like to forward calls from one number to another number if the call goes to voicemail (or ideally if I hang up too but I can live with ignoring them). The catch here is that I only want to forward calls from this very specific number. If my mum rings me and I miss the call I don't want her to be forwarded through. Everywhere I look I can only find catch a solutions. I don't mind paying for an app if it can help me out. Thanks [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 20 Jul 2021 04:18 AM PDT I'm about to use these resources below, but before proceeding, I figured that it would be better to consult others if I'm doing something wrong. These actually match the model of my phone precisely (Vivo y81i, also known as "Vivo 1812"), so my original question is a little bit different, but I'm still curious nonetheless. Can you use other TWRP specifications than your phone's model? Rooting guides for Vivo y81i:
P.S.: I've already done all of the other easy rooting methods a substantial amount of times, of course. That's why I resort to the TWRP method - the only alternative AFAIK. [link] [comments] |
| Gestures with 3rd party launchers Posted: 20 Jul 2021 12:22 AM PDT Since Android 11 stepped in we can't use 3rd party launchers with Gestures anymore. I have been addressing this issue but no one seems really worried about it, it ruined Android for me. Nova Launcher with Gestures was perfect and I could use it across devices. Using the Stock UI's is not working for me and I can't go back to 3 buttons. Can someone help? [link] [comments] |
| spam filter working, but still notifying? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:54 AM PDT Has anyone worked out a way (using Tasker or anything) to block notifications of SMS that was already caught by the spam filter? I get tired of having to clear my notifications of messages that are completely useless. [link] [comments] |
| Custom ROM without bootloader unlock Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:48 AM PDT I've installed custom ROMs on 2 old Samsung tablets, 2014-2015 models, but I haven't knowingly unlocked the bootloader in either of them. Did it automatically unlock in the process or do old devices not need unlocked bootloaders? [link] [comments] |
