Large code snippets don't read well on reddit and take up a lot of space, so please don't paste them in your comments. Consider linking Gists instead. Have a question about the subreddit or otherwise for /r/androiddev mods? We welcome your mod mail! Also, please don't link to Play Store pages or ask for feedback on this thread. | Is there a way to put perform an action if a notification is cleared or clicked? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 06:11 AM PDT I'm currently making a chat app. As of now I have any new messages sent in displaying on a notification, and it adds it into an internal ArrayList. However, if I click out or click on the notification, and retype a new message the old messages are still there. I was hoping to make something where once you click on the notification, it clears the list until you get new messages. Is something like this possible? [link] [comments] | ||
| Anyone using a Macbook Air (M1, 16GB RAM) for Android development? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 01:11 AM PDT I have to decived between a Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. On the surface it seems that they are very similar performance wise? Is there anything else I need to consider when making my decision? [link] [comments] | ||

| Rookie question regarding Google's 30% commission when your app has a free trial period Posted: 20 Jul 2021 08:10 AM PDT Hello everybody, I´m working with a development team and I´m hoping to launch my first app at the end of this year. I know very little about this stuff and my question might be pretty dumb, but here we go: If your business model is monthly subscription and you have a 1 month free trial, does Google charge you the 30% commission once the user starts paying (after the trial period) or does it charge you 30% of the app value directly to you whether the user pays for it or not? I guess my question is basically: If Google charges the 30% per consumer´s transaction or if it charges it directly to the developer, independently if the user ended up paying for the subscription or not. Thank you so much, have a good one. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:52 AM PDT Is there a way to publish apps anonymous? I was stalked several times in my life but on the other side I would want to deploy an app, but is that possible that no one can doxx me? Is it possible to do that without imprint? It is kind of a hentai game and I don't want my name linked to it [link] [comments] | ||

| What is the best way to execute a python script on a PC and display output in an Android application Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:39 AM PDT In your opinion, where I should start to achieve the following needs : 1 - App run, the python script should execute in my computer 2 - The app shows a progress bar while the script is executing. 3 - When the script finishes, the app should display the output Thank you [link] [comments] | ||

| Needing to clear Play Store storage to view "update" option for test apps Posted: 20 Jul 2021 07:14 AM PDT When I make a test release from my Pipeline, the app is automatically sent to the Play Store for testers to download it. Unfortunately there's no way to "force reload" pages on the Play Store, so to actually see if I can update my app I have to Go to Settings > Play Store > Clear Storage > Relaunch Play Store > Check if I can update. This is incredibly annoying but I'm almost sure I must be doing something wrong. Is there a better way to download new versions of my test app? Is there an Android equivalent of the Testflight app? | When should we use remoteMessage.getNotification() in Firebase? Posted: 20 Jul 2021 04:51 AM PDT Most apps I developed have login (no option to skip). In these apps I show notification only if user logged in1. Also if a user logout from app & another user is logged in, there are possibilities for a notification intended for previous user to show to current user (if it is received late) which is solved by sending user id in fields for notification & show notification only if it matches logged in user id which is possible in data message only (am I right?). In some cases we have to update UI in realtime which is possible by sending additional key value pairs in data. Most cases require app to process the notification instead of OS. But in notification type remote message are these possible? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:12 PM PDT I noticed many apps (not just mine) has most reviews removed. Like 99% removed on the play store webpage. However, they are still there if I goto publisher's console. Did google do a reset to ratings and reviews or something? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 19 Jul 2021 06:42 PM PDT I've searched around, but couldn't find anything. Has anyone managed to find a comparable color palette for the GMail app? [link] [comments] |
