wanna start learning android native development but afraid of the choice

    Posted: 08 Jul 2021 04:19 AM PDT

hi, so I want to start learning android native development and make a career in it but I'm afraid that hybrid technology or PWAs will kill the native development.

I hate web development and especially JavaScript but it is everywhere from react native to PWAs...

so is it still a good choice to choose native app development as a career for the future or should I consider learning web development (even though I hate it)

Why did my app installs go to zero?

Why did my app installs go to zero?

    https://preview.redd.it/0oeqsvy4gw971.png?width=1154&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b7a7d0074e8931f4f6d588818fac00bd4b9af22

I noticed at the beginning of the month, my installs plummeted to 0 or 1 from a rolling 30 day average of 23. I can't figure out why it dropped so much. My app is 3 months old so the new app category boost probably wore off long ago and I haven't made any recent updates that could turn off users. The Google Play support rep gave me some vague answer that an algorithm change could cause a drop but that doesn't explain anything. Is Google Play misreporting my app? Is there any way to figure out whats going on?

Maybe someone reported it for some reason? Has something like this happened to anyone? Most of my installs come from the category Google Play Explore

    Is Java dead?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2021 07:45 AM PDT

It was around 3 years ago, when i first saw a video "How to create an app" and it was done in Java. After that my first apps were all done with Java. About a week ago i asked a few teachers of mine and also every video i have came across, where its about choosing the best mobile framework for my scenario I never heard anybody say Java ( I have to create an app for my diploma, that's why i was looking up all that stuff). It was either Flutter/React Native for Hybrid apps or Kotlin/Swift for native apps. Is Java not a good choice anymore?

Using abstract view models with hilt

    Posted: 08 Jul 2021 02:32 AM PDT

I like to treat my UI tests almost like unit tests, verifying that the view model gets notified when something gets clicked and checking the view updates when the live data from the view model gets updated. In order to do that, I need to mock the view model my fragments are using.

That is not easy to do with Hilt at the moment since it does not directly support that.

Curious to see what this community thinks about my solution to this problem. Pls have a look and feel free to be harsh when commenting.

Android app got rejected because reviewers went through my website, how to fix this?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2021 06:01 AM PDT

I have a website, on there, I ask for bitcoin donations, the website isn't even active, I set it up a long time ago.

So now we're building a different business altogether, using the google play console to publish the app, a completely different thing. They rejected it because they somehow stumbled upon my personal website and didn't like the fact that I'm asking for bitcoins.

No one told me that they do a background check on everything I've ever created up until the moment I decided to publish an android app. I appealed the decision, anything else I could do?

I didn't specify any website for the app, nor a privacy policy URl. Is there another place where I can remove the URL? I'm pretty sure I didn't link it anywhere

The only way they could get to my website is by going to my youtube channel which has 0 videos because I'm busy. Also, my youtube channel has nothing to do with the app I'm lunching

    Click events for Views

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 05:05 PM PDT

I am new to Android app development and I have come across an issue where,

    1) I have a textview that I want to be clickable and start an Activity when clicked

    2) I set the onClick and clickable attributes of the textView

    3) Yet, when I test the app on a Virtual Device and my Android phone, The entire screen is clickable and starts the activity which is not what I wanted. I want the user to only be able to start the Activity by clicking the textView not anywhere on the Activity screen.

I defined the function before the onCreate method if that makes a difference. please help me! I want to complete this app before Sunday!

    App Testers Requirement

    Posted: 07 Jul 2021 11:32 AM PDT

Trying to throw in my App on the market for the first time. I am at the stage where its asking to have the app tested by 100 testers. Question is since I am a very small studio just entering the app posting world, how in the heck do I get 100 testers? Does google provide a list? Or do you have to find them yourselves? Any guidance is strongly appreciated.
