- Guys my parents just got a Mi TV. I've the cable box set to HDMI1 and they need a way to switch to it quickly without going through the PatchWall launcher. Is there any way to quick switch Inputs with this remote? Maybe I can remap a button?

| Posted: 11 Jun 2021 12:29 AM PDT Is there a way to easily switch profiles on Youtube on android TV? It is mind boggling to me that this is not a thing still. Netflix has a very fast and neat solution, just add profiles under the same account, and then switch via choosing a profile icon. But on Youtube, if I don't want my algorithms being polluted by 2-year old content, and my wife, I have to sign out and sign in. Plus, there is no smart login or whatever it's called, I have to type very complicated credentials and emails EVERY TIME, even though the accounts are added to Android TV main account control. Alternatively, is there a better Youtube app that has this solved better? [link] [comments] | ||

| Mi Box S update fixed video playback problem Posted: 11 Jun 2021 02:12 AM PDT For months my Mi Box S has had an issue playing any video - youtube, vlc, anything. After waking it from sleep it would only play 1 second of the video (or advert) then freeze. The only way to watch anything was to wake it, then restart it first. Today I got an OTA update which appears to have fixed this - no problems so far. I'm just posting this for anyone out there who had the same and gave up on the box, so they don't leave it in a drawer and never know it's working again :) [link] [comments] | ||
| Steam remote play experience on Mi Tv Stick Posted: 11 Jun 2021 09:38 AM PDT So, I received a stick as a gift, and after some apps deactivation through adb is not even half bad. Streaming YouTube/Netflix/prime video is perfect with zero dropped frames, only minor issue is apps are a bit slow to launch. Then I tried some gaming with steam I have the steam controller, WiFi is good and remote play works very well on my phone but is very strange on the stick. Standard h264 is a slideshow, even at 480p 30fps, which make absolutely no sense. H265 is ok even at 1600x900 60fps balanced quality but not smooth at all. I have zero packet loss, 1 ms input lag and reading the graph only the red line is quite erratic, which should be something like the video decode done on the stick. Sadly the issue persist even lowering resolution and frame rate, not even 480p is completely fine. I know the TV stick is quite underpowered, so there is something that can be done? what is the experience on other devices, like the new Chromecast Google TV? [link] [comments] | ||

On the CGTV, is there a way to return to the Cast screen that shows you what's playing and allows you to control it? I can see what's playing on a tile in the sidebar and on a tile in the Google TV launcher, but selecting those tiles does nothing. Launching the Spotify app kills the group cast. Some of the Sony remotes seem to have a dedicated 'pic mute' button (which turns of the screen but still allows audio) but mine does not. Has anyone found a command within the button mapper app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton&hl=en_IN&gl=US) which could replicate this? I'm happy to splash out for the premium version, but just can't see anything obvious (the default 'screen off' function in the app, designed originally for phones, replicates the 'power button' on an Android phone, which turns off the whole TV in AndroidTV). I was wondering if there's any way to backup and restore the current TV's apps and settings to the new one when it arrives, like how it's done in Android phones. It'll save me a lot of time installing all the apps and fiddling with settings as the new TV is going to be the same model. Please let me know any such option is available. TIA.
