After 4 years, I’ve now launched a Patreon to support my weekly tl;dr posts and MiniReview development (more info inside)

    Hi everyone :)

I can't thank you all enough for supporting the tl;dr game recommendations I've made here on the sub since 2017. It has been such a great time for me, and I'm looking forward to another 4 years of looking for hidden gems and helping you avoid the pay-to-win trash out there ;)

As you may know, I quit my job last year because of stress, and I'm now full-time on creating mobile gaming content across Reddit, MiniReview, and YouTube.

Since only YouTube is monetized and I have huge plans for MiniReview's future, I asked you some weeks ago if you thought setting up a Patreon to support the development of MiniReview, my creations here on the sub, and my YouTube videos was a good idea.

I got lots of positive feedback (thank you!), so it's finally here now: https://www.patreon.com/NimbleThor

Nothing changes about the content I create today. It's still freely accessible here on the sub, in MiniReview, and on YouTube. And I really hope none of you feel "obligated" to support me financially. I appreciate every like, comment, upvote etc. Those ways of supporting mean the world to me as well <3

For the foreseeable future, ALL money made from Patreon goes straight into MiniReview development! Later, it'll ensure that I can continue working full-time on creating the content I already make + whatever you guys would like to see in the future! :)

I've tried to come up with some fun bonuses for any Patreon support, including:

    • Access to polls where you can vote on games I should review and topics I should cover + vote on a "Patreon Game of the Month" that I then review
    • Access to sneak-peeks of new MiniReview features
    • Q/A videos / general behind the scenes stuff
    • Early access to videos
    • Special thanks/shoutouts in videos and Reddit posts

I'll add more if the Patreon community grows. So if you have ideas of something that'd be fun, just let me know.

This is my first-ever Patreon, so please let me know if something seems off :)

[DEV] Hello I making a single player gatcha(kinda) offline game that will be 100% free with no pulls(looking for feedback)

    Posted: 21 Jun 2021 10:13 PM PDT

As the tittle says I am developing an rpg with turn based combat that will be 100% free, no ads no nothing.

A bit about myself, I am not someone with huge or any experience, I have developed 1 small game and its on hold cause I want to improve my skills and release a non commercial game first, I really loved the flash era where you would just play a free game finish it and move on! So don't expect anything crazy.

Now let me explain the idea, so basically you buy/hire monsters that can be used on a championship and go up the ranks(arena mode) and then we have adventure mode which is used for money and items grinding, monsters don't level up instead you can power them up by equipping items and artifacts, also your arena rank gives stat bonuses.

The game is pretty repitive as you can see there is a loop, I made a bit of "map" for the adventure mode but still didn't fix anything,

    Some extra details.

Monsters have one life that means if they die, they die permanently.

Combat is at early stages so not really anything to share here.

Assets, music's are not mine, I am using royalty free assets for the video game.

Any feedback is welcome, I really wanna make this game work out and release it!

    Help me find a game

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 04:24 AM PDT

[REQUEST ]I'm looking for a game I used to play long ago, but I don't remember the name and I can't find it in the play store, if anyone can remember the game with the description, I'll be thankful.

Game Description: The game is a RPG, with 4 classes to select, I only remember 3, assassin, mage, and Knight, each class has 3 weapons to use, for example the mage can use a scythe, a wand and magic gloves, each weapon make the character attack in different forms.

I only remember one weapon of the assassin, dual swords.

I think that the Knight weapons were, sword, maze or a kind of bat, and spear.

The other class I don't remember the name but was a kind of paladin, a defender, the only class that can use shields and the Knight when uses a sword.

The game has some characteristics, as can change the game speed, the zoom, the type of controls.

As any RPG game you can level up and learn new abilities, the enemies drops items and your backpack has a limit.

Enemies drops stones or crystals you can use with the blacksmith to enhance your weapons.

You control the character, the attacks and when to use the abilities.

That's all I can remember of the game, but still couldn't find it, so I came here for help.

What are some good games I can play to pass the time while traveling?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 09:52 AM PDT

I have some long flights / drives ahead of me and wanted to play a game that's designed to be a game, and not a "mobile" game if that makes any sense. Think Terraria and Minecraft vs like...games with energy systems and in app purchases to restore said energy.

I love ARPGs (think diablo, darksouls, borderlands) and I like idle/incremental games, its just that I don't know of any incremental games that can be actively played that don't suck the life out of you (e.g. actively clicking a bunch). Are there any games that I should really consider that I might like? Something that can be obviously be played offline, easy to start/stop, and actually have decent controls? So far Terraria mobile seems to be questionable for controls but I might get over it.

Tower Breaker is surprisingly fun, but I've never seen it posted here. Any other games like it?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 12:38 PM PDT

It's a platforming rogue like game and I've actually had a lot of fun with it, like Magic Survival except instead of surviving you progress by killing dudes and climbing a tower to fight bosses.

I haven't finished the game yet, but I like the general gameplay loop. The IAP's are a little pricey though. Are there other decent vertical rogue like games out there?

Any good survival games that aren't P2W?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 06:32 AM PDT

I want to find a new multiplayer survival game that isn't p2w, since each one I played requires you to pay money to earn good and valuable items, or else you'll have to grind for hours or even days to get something average as hell, so here is the list of some games I played:

    • Utopia: Origin
    • LifeAfter
    • ARK: Survival Evolved

Looking for an old turn based game

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 04:46 AM PDT

I'm looking for a game that I played many years ago that I've forgotten the name of. Some of the features are:

    1. Turn based
    2. Blue (the player) vs orange (bot or 2nd player)
    3. Start with a blank map, and both teams have 'cores' at opposite end of the map
    4. The player then put turrets on the map which the player can choose to rotate where it is pointing at.
    5. There are also power turrets where it can rotate other turrets, a special turret with 3 barrels, but there are only one per game for each teams.
    6. If a turret faces each other, noting happens, if a turret faces the back of an opponent's turret, their turret is returned.
    7. It is on the edges of an isometric grid.
    8. The art is very minimalist and looks like neon glow (orange and blue)

I really miss this game, it was very simple but challenging. I hope someone here knows it.

    Found my old screenshot! https://imgur.com/a/oRcOQIP

    Thanks

[REQUEST] Game that I played a few years ago but doesn't show up on my apps? Help me find figure it out?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 07:28 AM PDT

I don't have an android anymore but a like 5 years ago there was this cool card game that had a series of levels (think of flash games, 1, 2, 3, ... etc.)

It was a single player, free game, that was like a pixel dungeon-esque card game. You essentially had two currencies, blood and coin, and you balanced that to buy the cards or something like that, (was long time ago, details are fuzzy). The game happened in a 4x5 grid of cards I believe.

Different kind of request - any good gamepads/thumb controllers out there?

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 07:24 AM PDT

I've seen some that essentially "clip" to the corners/edges of the phone or stick to the screen and serve as joypads or buttons, as well as switch-style controllers that dock the phone in a slot between.

I'm specifically looking for something that's compatible with basically anything, as it seems a lot of the fancier ones (like actual gamepads that have like a "holder" for the phone on top) are bluetooth and the games need to have controller capabilities.

Any good ones people have used or can recommend? I do have a larger phone, 170mm which is a bit above some of the docking designs I've found.

Are the little attachable thumbpads garbage?
