Can I trick my pc thinking it is on the same network as my phone, which gives that pc it's hotspot? Posted: 19 May 2021 07:16 AM PDT Sorry for the very hard to understand question, but let me explain my problem. But anyways - Hi, there! I have a Samsung Note 10+ and my pc is MSI GE63 raider RGB 8SE. First - I don't have WIFI, so the only thing I have is my phone with its unlimited data and so - it's hotspot. I have been using this app called "Your Phone" and I have been able to use my phone on my pc daily. After it's update or bug fixes it shows me this "To use Phone screen on your PC, make sure your Android device and PC are connected to the same WIFI." Can I somehow trick my PC and phone in thinking they are on the same network or something? Any other suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Any way to make something out of an old Asus tablet? Posted: 19 May 2021 03:00 AM PDT So I found my old Asus Transformer Pad TF300TG from the bottom of my drawer and started it up for fun. Did a factory reset and updated apps, but it's still slow as hell. Is there any way to make it viable even for web browsing, or should I just not bother since the hardware is very underpowered for today's apps? [link] [comments] |

Phone keeps connection to low-quality wifi with a high quality in range Posted: 19 May 2021 12:54 PM PDT I've got a stock Pixel 4XL running 12 beta and two different networks in my house: one extender is placed in the dining room, another one is right outside my room. In each of the rooms I can have a good wifi connection just from the closest extender, while the other connection drops. So I am constantly connected to a wifi: the one with the best quality. Actually, this was true up until a few days ago (so even with android 11). Since then, doesn't matter where I am, the phone stays connected to the wifi it was, even the signal is not strong enough, so the phone start using the data from my 4g. I don't know exactly what happened. Is there a way to force the phone to find and connect to another stronger wifi when the quality from the one in use is low even tho it's still able to stay connected to it? [link] [comments] |

Is there any Android call blocking app like this? Posted: 19 May 2021 11:39 AM PDT Hello, I'm looking for a call blocking app that meets these requirements: 1) For known spam numbers, it blocks voicemail (pick up and hang up, or some other method). 2) For other numbers not in contacts, it blocks the call, but allows the voicemail. 3) For contacts, it allows the call. Preferably, when it blocks calls, I'd like it to prevent them from even showing up in the missed call notifications and in the call history, as checking my phone and seeing 5 missed spam calls is a little annoying; I'd rather just not be notified about it at all. They also add unnecessary clutter to the call history. I read that there is some sort of bug in Android now that forces you to set the call blocking app as the default dialer, which also breaks visual voicemail functionality. Is this correct or does it only affect some apps? Is there a way around it? I would like to keep visual voicemail if possible. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
OTG adapter/hub for Nexus 5 with HDMI and USB? Posted: 19 May 2021 11:09 AM PDT I have a friend that has a smashed up Nexus 5 that has pictures on it he would like to recover. Unfortunately the screen is shattered and the touch sensors do not work. The phone not having a Micro-SD slot means the pics are all on the internal storage. He can hook up a mouse to it with an OTG adapter and can maneuver around on the phone, but can only see about 1/4 of the screen. The phone has never been hooked up to a computer to allow the trust to transfer the pictures and he is pretty sure USB debugging is not enabled so using ADB is not an option. My thoughts are that a externally powered OTG hub with HDMI and USB would allow him to use the mouse and external screen to enable USB transfers, but we cannot find anything that looks like it works this way. Alternatively, I was thinking we could cast the screen of the phone to a Chromecast. The part of the screen that he can see shows the cast to device button, but he does not have an CC compatible devices to cast it to. All he needs to do is click on the trust this device to allow access to the DCIM folder on the phone. Does anyone have a solution for this? [link] [comments] |
Help, Can't switch Keyboards after android 11 update Posted: 19 May 2021 11:01 AM PDT Hey all, I have a 2019 Purchased Xiaomi Mi A3, and They rolled out an Andoid 11 Update a few days ago. Posted: 19 May 2021 07:07 AM PDT People would always suggest that only use the charger that comes with the phone, I am currently using Poco F3 and it comes with a fast charger. Is it advisable to always charge my phone this way or should I use other non fast charging chargers too if I dont need the phone to fast charge anyways? I notice that my phone gets really hot too. Is it possible to unlock bootloaded, flash custom rom but not root and use BYOD device ? Posted: 19 May 2021 06:56 AM PDT I have a Redmi K 20 pro that I'm not concerned about the warranty, so I'm thinking about unlocking the bootloader and loading custom ROMs, expecially PixelExperience, since the experience with MIUI is so far away from stock. But, I also access work apps from it. Would unlocking it cause issues with gmail, Google Authenticator, Google chat etc. or trigger something to where my work would not allow the device to use work apps? I am really tempted to flash a custom ROM or (maybee root if it can work) but losing access to work apps on my only phone has been stopping me from going that path. [link] [comments] |

I cannot figure out why my battery is draining so quickly Posted: 19 May 2021 09:47 AM PDT Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G Carrier: Tracfone Software is up to date I've searched Google and read all kinds of tips about checking which apps are using battery power the most, putting apps to sleep, etc., but none of those seemed to help in my case. My battery screen says there is an average daily use of 10% over the last 7 days. Under Background Usage Limits, it shows 4 sleeping apps, 30 deep sleeping apps, and 2 never sleeping apps. Under Since Last Full Charge, the top 5 apps are at 4.1%, 1.5%, 1.1%, 0.9%, and 0.8% - none of which sound like they are draining my battery. However, I just charged my phone 2-3 days ago and it's already down to 65%. For the sake of comparison, I charged my iPad on the same day at the same time and that is still at 95%. I barely use my phone so it's definitely not from excessive use. I put it into Power Saving Mode to see if that would change anything but it didn't. Is there anything else I should be checking? What can I do so my battery doesn't drain so fast? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 May 2021 09:35 AM PDT Hi! I'm having some issues with getting current media to show up in the notification menu. When I have something like spotify playing the only way I can see what's playing/pause it is by swiping down into the notification center then pressing the little media button which bring me to a whole different app. Is there a way I can put the media info in the swipe down notice area? How to turn off startup sound in my Android phone Posted: 18 May 2021 10:39 PM PDT Without going into unnecessary details, someone I know has a completely fine working Android phone (8.1 Go). It isn't the primary phone, but totally usable. But for some reason it restarts randomly (nowadays its rare but still happens out of the blue). And every time it starts up, there is a loud startup sound. The startup sound is not of Android's but of that particular phone brand. There is no option in the settings to disable it. And I don't think their support line will help me with it either. Is there any way to disable it? (I don't know anything about jailbreaking phones or whatever but if that's the way to disable that annoying sound, then please let me know) [link] [comments] |

Possible Background App Killing Issue Posted: 19 May 2021 08:56 AM PDT Hello all! I have a pair of WH1000MX4s that I recently purchased. In case anybody is wondering, they work great and I would thus far recommend them, but this is a post about the app, the Sony Headphone App that works with the headphones. [link] [comments] |

If you use yt music you know that there is a pick artist to improve your experience option. I picked one but now there doesn't seem to be a way to unpick. [link] [comments] |

Can't fix the "Aw, snap" crash in Chrome Posted: 19 May 2021 08:31 AM PDT I have a Pixel 4XL with the most recent OS and app updates. Whenever I'm using Chrome it randomly crashes, either if the page is loading, I'm scrolling or just sitting on a page, it just randomly shows the "aw, snap!" Error. The Google search app also randomly crashes when I'm looking for something with any kind of error message. I've tried everything: - Deleting cache and data of Chrome and SystemWebView - Uninstalling updates to SystemWebView - Restarting the phone - Factory resetting the phone The only thing that appears to work is Uninstalling updates to Chrome, but you know this is not ideal. Any idea what can I do to solve this? I'm getting real tired of the constant random crashes all the time. [link] [comments] |
Whatsapp - very high battery usage Posted: 19 May 2021 04:24 AM PDT Samsung Galaxy S9 This started about 2 or 3 weeks ago. All of sudden, very often, the phone is clearly hotter than it used to be under normal use. Battery is draining much faster than before. Checking battery stats screen Whatsapp is always the one draining the battery most and that is with me not being a very active user. Anyone else running into this? [link] [comments] |
