Android Gaming [REQUEST] An offline game with progression

Android Gaming [REQUEST] An offline game with progression

[REQUEST] An offline game with progression

    Posted: 31 May 2021 12:23 PM PDT

To (hopefully) narrow down my request, here are some of my "reviews" on some games I play, thanks in advance.

I enjoy Hearthstone for its deck building, simple face level combat, with a clear path for more complex moves. But wish it could be played offline.

Fallout Shelter is pretty fun, but the game seems to mostly revolve around waiting, and checking in every so often. With not much to do in-between sending out dwellers, and waiting for resources.

Home Quest is fun for the reasons that Fallout Shelter isn't, as you can load it up for 5 minutes and feel like you've made some progress. But, there isn't much going on, other than building the next unit or building.

Void Tyrant is amazing, it's offline, the art style is simple, your character improves as you play, you can start/stop whenever, the card battles have a great amount of complexity. Again but... I'm not a huge fan of the roguelike resetting on death (even though you keep a card or two)

GTA San Andreas doesn't even open!

    Posted: 31 May 2021 02:40 AM PDT

Is anyone else having this problem? It's happening with Bully as well! The games crash instantly and it's so frustrating, everyone on the Play store is complaining but Rockstar has done nothing. What a waste of money, this and many other reasons is why I'm wary of buying paid games, mostly because I worry that the developers will eventually not support the game/app. If Rockstar won't fix their game why should we buy it? There is alternatives out there and I bet they probably work.

[REQUEST] A dungeon crawler, similar to Pixel Dungeon.

    Posted: 30 May 2021 07:08 PM PDT

I've been play pixel dungeon on and off for years now, and I'd like to play more games like it. Im looking for something thats turn based, free, doesnt bring you into battles, like how jrpgs do, and has alot of content. Id also like games that can be easy to play, but hard to beat.

Edit: seeing as alot of fellow pixel dungeon people are here, I should say if you want to have more forks of the game I can send you a link to a discord server that has ways to get more pixel dungeon forks, just dm me if you want a link.

    Games like (Pokemon) Mystery Dungeon?

    Posted: 31 May 2021 07:14 AM PDT

Hey! Are there any decent games like the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series? Maybe with MP elements?

I'm aware that I could use an emulator to play, but that's not what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help!

    Decent mobile MOBA?

    Posted: 30 May 2021 01:15 PM PDT

Trying to find a mobile MOBA that isn't pay to win. I just tried some Japanese themed one, but I was either placed into games along players with 600 matches, or the ranked queue time would never find a match.

It doesn't need to have the polish of a PC moba. I get without a mouse it's hard to be precise.

    Remapping Xbox controller

    Posted: 31 May 2021 09:04 AM PDT

Hey everyone. I'm trying to play a certain game on my phone using my Xbox Series X controller. The issue is that "A" is mapped to the start button and the app in question doesn't have a remapping option. Is there an external app I could use to make it so that I can make the phone recognize a press of the A button as a press of the start button? Ideally it would also be able to be toggled on and off at will.

Thoughts on (there being so many) pixel art games?

    Posted: 31 May 2021 08:43 AM PDT

    Hi AndroidGaming,

First a disclaimer. I was born in 1975 and have become an "Old Fart". I grew up with video games, and remember when all the gaming systems, and the TVs they were played on, had simulated wood trim for the aesthetics. Atari 2600? Yep! Coleco Vision? Yes! Commodore 64? Hell yeah! Original Nintendo? Awesome sauce! Tandy 1000 home computer with primitive joysticks and 3-voice soundcard and 16-color graphics? Radical! And so on, and so on....

I remember when polygons became a thing, and "bloom lighting" was a cause celebres on the OG Xbox, and I loved how much graphics have continued to progress ever since. I never once looked back on the pixelated past with any feeling of nostalgia regarding the graphics. I have tons of happy memories playing the games, solo and with friends, but not a single one was based on the pixels of yore.

I think this explains why I'm weary of the sheer number of pixel art games on the market today. It feels as if every game of the rogue-lite/souls-like/action/adventure/metroidvania/rpg genre is comprised of pixel art!

Don't get me wrong! I've purchased some pixel art games which are incredibly fun, and graphically enjoyable as well. In fact, I'll admit that the pixel art style, when used properly, can be charming in a way that no other style can be. "Endurance" comes to mind, and there are other examples in this subreddit. However, I was unable to enjoy "Wayward Souls", for example, even though I'm glad that I supported the developer with my purchase. I couldn't tell what what exactly was being displayed on my screen in "Wayward Souls": was I walking on a path? Blocked by a bush? Holding a torch? Being attacked by a zombie? And the items - was this five-pixel collection supposed to be a sword, a pen, a cup, or a map? I never could tell, and gave up after a while. That was a shame, because I could tell the game was made with love.

So are the sheer numbers of pixel art games due to popularity of the art style, or are they easier and cheaper to produce? I can certainly understand the need to keep costs down; single developers and small teams don't have the resources of AAA studios!

I'm very interested in your thoughts on pixel art games! Thanks in advance for your replies.

I was recently thinking about some ARPG games that I was playing and why I am so addicted. I am addicted to Questland at the moment because of the in-depth itemisation. What about you guys? Just curious :D
