So yeah considering these two, would it make sense to upgrade? Also something to point out that I'd be getting the 256gb for 680 usd (deal ends in a few hours). Edit: should also point out that I'd love to have a working USB port and good camera, but I'm just wondering if it's worth holding out for a better android (but I really like the price on the s21) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 May 2021 07:17 AM PDT I tried two different phones, nokia (android-one) and huawei, both with android 10 both encrypted and password protected... when you turn on the nokia (androidone 10) the boot sequence is this: - press power button > the phone starts but it doesn't boot up completely > is shows a black screen where you type the passwords > phone restarts and boots up android completely (this is the same sequence as previous android versions) when you turn on the huawei (android 10) the boot sequence is this: - press power button > the phone starts and boots up android apparently almost completely (there is a panel that says: user data locked, password required after restart, some features are disabled for security) in this phase you type the password just like you unlocked the phone The Huawei boot sequence makes me think it is not fully encrypted, my questions is why is there this difference in boot sequence for the same android version? Shouldn't a full disk encrypted android ask for password BEFORE booting? also what is the boot sequence in your android? [link] [comments] |

(i'm not a hardcore gamer) also it's cheaper than samsung. i saw some negative comments about 11 lite's camera and battery. and negative comments about a52's performance. which one should i go for evaluating the camera, performance and battery together? | Posted: 31 May 2021 11:23 AM PDT I tried to turn on my old MotoG5 which I thought had been destroyed after I fell out of a canoe with it in my bag. However when I turned it on the bootloader shows up perfectly normal and so does the warning about an unlocked bootloader. I did some more investigation and determined that the phone is still working it's just that the phone is on super super low brightness when in android itself and basically requires a flashlight to be shined into it for it to be legible. Any ideas what's causing this? It should also be noted that the brightness problem exists in the recovery aswell. [link] [comments] |

Also I tried using adb logcat -L to get the logs if they can help somehow but it says logcat read failure so I can't get them. I have stock rom, Android 8 go, non rooted phone is an Moto E5 play go. | Posted: 31 May 2021 10:50 AM PDT Okay so this problem has happened just recently but I will keep getting pop up ads and my phone will randomly open up Google and take me to a random website (these are usually inappropriate things or fake antivirus ads)..it happens randomly and everytime I turn on my phone I've looked and none of my apps seem to be the problem and antivirus apps haven't worked.... In fact, if I use the same parameters over WiFi, the battery usage is far lower like I mentioned. Phone information that may help deduce something: Screen was replaced a while back Battery was replaced to an original one by LG about a year and a half ago. Accubattery indicates 80% health about 120 apps installed, out of which 110 are background restricted Anymore information I'm willing to give, this is all that comes to mind right now. I bought a new one, which did not work for my phone at all, but my friend's different brand phone could charge through it, though the jack didn't work from him either. Before buying anything else, I would like to know what to look for. | LG V40 - Problems Unlocking Bootloader Posted: 31 May 2021 10:04 AM PDT Hello everyone, As the title states, I am having trouble trying to unlock the bootloader on my LG V40 (unlocked). I have downloaded adb-setup 1.3 and installed the drivers, but how do I make sure the drivers were installed correctly? Next, when I open the command window on the folder were the adb files were downloaded, I first type the command line "adb devices" to make sure my device is recognized, which it is. The problem is when I type in "adb reboot bootloader" my phone simply resets, it does not reboot in any special type of way. Does it need to reboot into safe mode or something? By the time I type in "fastboot oem device-id" I get stuck with the reply of "waiting for device" and never end up getting the ID number. Can anyone give me some pointers on what I am doing wrong? When I check the driver build it is 4.8.0 so I don't know if this is part of the problem. Thank you for any help! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 May 2021 10:03 AM PDT So unfortunately, I live in a country where power cuts happen often. So today, the power went out and my phone was around 27%. I turned my phone on maximum power saving mode where the phone can only have access to around 4 or 5 apps and is supposed to survive longer! Now, the phones battery reached 0%, and I still could operate on it.. You know when the phone dies, the samsung logo comes on and then slowly fades? See, that didn't happen when my phone died. It just abruptly turned off Now fast forward until the power came back, now I have my phone plugged in the charger and it's been plugged in for an hour already and my phone has no response. This btw, is the 2ND time this happened, first time it charged after being charged for 30 minutes.. This time it's taking too long and it just won't turn on I'm afraid, this phone costed me an arm and a leg.. Why won't it budge? Can anyone help me? I tried turning it on, tried holding the down volume + power button, tried using another charger, tried plugging it on my laptop.. Nothing will work! My guess is that the battery is severely drained and will need to take some time in the charger to be revived, but still.. it's been too long.. Any help? [link] [comments] |

But it doesn't have the dark theme setting. Did the whole Display > Advance > Themes or even searching. I find nothing. I need an app that will force dark mode or home screen launcher (idk if that's the correct term) that can force dark themes on apps. I don't want to root my phone. Let me know what other info y'all need to figure why I'm not seeing the dark theme naturally or if you have app suggestions for dark theme forcing. Thanks. | How safe is android google backup? Posted: 31 May 2021 01:27 PM PDT I back up my phone with Samsung SmartSwitch but apparently it does not save appdata. I just found out that google backup does, but I am hesitant to trust google with anything, let alone all my device data. I can't find any information on the security of this except that it's seemingly end-to-end encrypted (can it be verified? WhatsApp is "encrypted" too but can still read all your stuff). | An app that would move application to SD card without root Posted: 31 May 2021 12:27 PM PDT I have a Samsung Tab A tablet that has limited internal storage and an external SDcard. The internal storage is not enough for all of the apps. Fortunately, many of the apps can be moved to external leaving the internal with plenty of space like 3 Gb or so. The problem is that every time the application updates, which is like every day, the application is moved back to the internal storage, causing a storage to run out of space. What I want is some sort of app manager that will automatically move an app to external. It has to have settings that allow me to specify which app gets moved. This is because even though some of the apps say they can be moved to external, moving them to external will cause them to crash. I have to do this without root. [link] [comments] |

| Help with spam texts recived from vzwpix.com Posted: 31 May 2021 03:48 AM PDT I have been receiving spam text messages from several Email addresses all ending in vzwpix.com. I can delete the text but the "block number" tab is grayed out. To make matters worse these appear to sent out in group texts. While no other phone numbers are present where the vzwpix address is displayed I recieving dozens of text reply listing a 10 digit number @vzwpix.com. I assume these are from other victims and that is their phone number. They reply with stop, unsubscribe, threats of being reported to the FCC, FBI and others, and of course profanity. While I had notifications sound off one person had replyed 84 times in a couple hours. Is there a way to block texts from an Email address or at least block the messages that are a reply to these?
