Android TV output to USB DAC issue Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:02 PM PDT Heya guys/gals. I have a Shield TV (2017) that is connected to a Creative X-Fi 5.1 DAC (via USB) which I've connected (L+R tulip > mini jack) to my satellite speakers (Sonos Play:5 gen2 which has a mini jack line in). I've been using this setup since I purchased my Shield TV, almost two years ago. No issues in that timeframe, but a few weeks back it started acting up. Problem seems small, but is quite annoying. Not every time, but very frequently when I power on the Shield TV (I have HDMI-CEC configured to Wake SHIELD when I turn on my TV) and I play a file (source or player makes no difference) the sound is played via the build in TV speakers. When it does this, it does still show Creative X-Fi 5.1 DAC as output (in audio settings). When I try switching sources (f.e. BT headphones) it works fine. But when I select the USB DAC (selecting it as output works fine) it will again play the audio via the build in speakers, and not via the DAC. Doesn't matter what I do, it will not play any audio via the USB DAC until I reset my Shield TV. After a reset is magically starts working again. As you can imagine, this is quite annoying especially if my GF or kid (not tech savvy in anyway) use the Shield TV). I have not tried a whole lot, because I don't think there are many options (oh please let there be options!).
Is there anyone whom might know what the hell is causing this? I'm clueless. I have not changed anything in my setup. Nor was there any update, neither on the Shield or the Sonos speakers. No clue what to do next. All help appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 29 Apr 2021 01:52 AM PDT I was wondering if I could play 4k HDR movies in Mi LED TV 4S 55'' from my USB drive. Before buying one I wanted to be sure if I could play. I have a huge collection of 4K movies in my HDD so if I could play them it would be great. FYI those 4k movies are pretty big in size , almost 10 GB each [link] [comments]
Any sideload apps to make it easier than using file managers? Posted: 28 Apr 2021 09:39 PM PDT I've used Fire TVs for years, and have always used apps like Apps2Fire and Easy Fire Tools to easily transfer and install APKs downloaded on my phone to my FTV devices. I was searching for a similar app for Google TV, but every search for how to sideload on Chromecast/GTV just shows the cloud drive or USB + file manger method. Is there no phone app that makes this easier, and not require a file manager to be installed? [link] [comments]
