| Posted: 29 Apr 2021 03:37 AM PDT I've never had a google account on my Android phone (would never do that!) and so far it is merely an annoyance (like how Android 10 deletes a few of your photos when it updates, thinking they are 'in the cloud,' , how if you use a phone that has ever had a google account, it gets nearly bricked when you do a hard reset, how there are nag screens in each version of Android trying to trick you into doing business with google). But this seems serious. It seems impossible to get hold of the .apk file for this program, and some of the documentation suggests it depends unremovably on Google Play Services. The source code is on GitHub but it seems no one has made any builds, and the instructions for making a build seem to involve interacting with the Google Play architecture. So am I right that this means the gov't is going to force people to do business with either Google or Apple, or just don't use airports? [link] [comments] |

What is the easiest, most streamlined way to get an iphone widget screen. On my phone? When you swipe right and it shows the news screen, I've disabled that but would love to have a widget screen there. I'd like something to show me a quick view at things just like the iphone. I'm trying to edit a text file in Teamfight Tactics data folder to turn off frame limiter - pretty annoying to see 30 fps and 15% GPU usage :) I've tried to use x-plore, which gets access to the folder, but once I click the file, whatever editor I tried, including x-plores builtin one, just shows eaccess error, or file not found. | Samsung Galaxy s9+ defaulting to "Transferring Files" When connecting via uSB Posted: 29 Apr 2021 11:27 AM PDT Model: SM-G965U Android Version 10, G965USQS9FUC2 I am trying to use my Galaxy S9+ with Vysor to mirror onto my computer. When I connect my phone to my PC with a USB cable, it always brings up the message "the last usb device you plugged in has malfunctioned." After plugging in and seeing this message, if I swipe down and tap "USB for file transfer" and tap the option "transferring images", everything connects like its supposed to. I have USB Debugging enabled in the developer options, and when you got to "Default USB configuration" in the Developer options, "Transferring images" is selected. So why do I still have to swipe down and tell it to use that mode to get everything to work? It should be defaulted to that mode. Also, why doesn't "transferring files" work? I have the "Samsung USB Driver for Mobile Phones" installed. I have the latest version of Vysor. Phone is completely up to date. Edit: Uninstalled the samsung driver and installed the "ADB universal driver". Same thing. [link] [comments] |

For a long time I assumed that the "Google" app I see getting updated in the Play Store periodically was just like the Google search Toolbar widget. But the updates have come so frequently and the app itself has become so bloated its clear that it's a much more core component of Android. But this month, it's suddenly used more data than it used in the last 3 months combined. What is going on with this app? And can anyone tell me what it is? [link] [comments] |
| Samsung Tablet, how can I get files without knowing the PIN? Posted: 29 Apr 2021 10:30 AM PDT A friend's mom has recently passed and he gave me her tablet to retrieve pictures of her and his father. However, neither he nor his father know the PIN, and it doesn't have an SD Card. It has a 7 Digit PIN, which makes it basically impossible to guess, although I have tried the obvious ones. I doubt it has USB Debug on since it was basically only used for Facebook and taking pictures. Is there any way for me to retrieve the files without having to open up the tablet (I'm not comfortable doing that) or completely factory resetting it? [link] [comments] |

| All apps keep crashing after update Posted: 29 Apr 2021 10:05 AM PDT Hello After the last Android update, all of my apps (except a few) keep crashing the second I start them. I red on the internet that this was due to apps called 'Android System Webview', and that I should manually update both this and Chrome. After some searching (because the apps kept 'pending') I managed to update both these apps, I restarted my phone but all my apps keep crashing. I tried uninstalling them en re-installingm same for the apps but they keep crashing, essentially bricking my phone. It often blocks the bottom most part of other notifications, is always there, and is not able to be interacted with. I switched phones and it followed me. I can do the transparency myself on Paint, but the widgets I tried have a white background. I have tried all the other options such as configuring the battery optimization, app overlays, notifications, permissions, etc... As for app tools such as Tasker, tried but didn't work. Posted: 29 Apr 2021 07:09 AM PDT I have a Pixel 3, and I have noticed, after changing my system language to NL, the lock screen erroneously capitalizes the first letter of the day of the week. The phone has no SIM card yet, I am just using it over Wifi. I can already make free wifi calls with it using the Google voice number, but when I try and send an SMS it says that a "connection can't be established." Posted: 29 Apr 2021 06:17 AM PDT I like to read my messages without opening them yet, to avoid the blue tick showing up for the other person. However, when I get an instagram dm, I can only see 40 characters, and 30 of them are just my instagram name and the name of the person who sent me something. Then there's just "..." If I swipe down on the notifications I can see a little more detail but it actually barely makes a difference. Is there a way to display the full message in the notification panel? Or is there an app for that? (I dont think it matters, but: i'm using a Samsung S10) Any suggestions are welcome, thank you! [link] [comments] |
