| Posted: So I've had a bug off and on for several months now, and my Google Fu is failing me. I'm not even certain what to ask about. Occasionally, when screen rotation turns the phone, or when I have the keyboard called up, the video overlay that is playing a video from an app in the background gets stuck to the bottom of the screen. I can try to drag the video up to the top, but when I release it, it fires down off the bottom of the screen. When the video player is in this state, it still works. However, this sometimes results in a weird jitter when I turn the screen from horizontal to vertical, like it's stuck repeating the last frames of the rotation animation. Sometimes I'm able to solve it by loading a program like Discord, calling up and dismissing the keyboard, and rotating the phone around. Other times, the only way I can fix it is a full reboot. I'm on a Galaxy S20+ 5G, running Android 11. Is there any way to fix this permanently? [link] [comments] |
| How to reduce notification sound for message on Messenger Posted: Hello everybody, I just have changed from an iPhone to Samsung. Android is a whole new experience for me! Everything is great, but there is only one issue that annoys me so much and I could not find any solutions. I get a message notification for every single message in Messenger. My question is, can I make the app (either within settings or android settings) only notify me that there are messages once? Basically, this is a minor nuisance because every one of the messages will trigger my notification sound. I don't like turning off the notification sound altogether because I do like to know when I get a message from friends and family, I just don't need a message sound for every single one. | Need to get a phone for 250$ (Except Xiaomi) Posted: So here's the drill, my friend needs to buy a phone it needs to have A good screen(above 90Hz, he says he doesn't want 60Hz), good hardware(most probably Snapdragon SoC, but Exynos will work too) and a good cam, like the Poco x3 phone which can play genshin impact as well He wanted to go for the X3 but didn't as he didn't like MiUI and he has no experience in even flashing custom roms. | My Note10 won't send texts to ONE person Posted: I have a Note10 on TMobile, the contact I'm having issues with has a Note20 on AT&T. My texts delivering have been spotty but now they won't even try. It's just spinning. My phone has been reset multiple times, he's not blocked, I've tried adding and removing the 1 multiple times, etc. I don't want to delete the text thread because I am a sentimental hoarder. | Shortcut for tickets in Samsung A50 panel Posted: So I have an Samsung A50 and recently got the update to Android 11, which added the panel on the right side of the Screen. I would like to be able to access my public transport tickets from there. I'm using two different apps depending on what kind of ticket I need. One already has a shortcut to the tickets, when I long press the app icon there's a field that says tickets. Is there anyway to add that shortcut to the panel? The other app doesn't have that shortcut so I need to open the app and open the ticket through the menu. Would it still be possible for me to create a shortcut and add it to the panel? So I've been looking into new Redmi Note 10 phones as my secondary device and kept seeing people mention that Helio G95 in the upcoming Note 10S is a gaming SoC. But does it mean it gives up something in other areas compared to Snapdragon models? What are those areas then? What are Snapdragon/Helio/Dimensity SoC concidered to be good at? I don't really game, so I'm mostly interested in how it affects photo quality, I'm assuming SoCs process shots differently (don't care about the video though) and what are those non-gaming scenarios in general. Posted: Does it slow down an older Android phone to install the latest O/S or update the apps because they are written for newer, more powerful phones? I liken it to trying to run Windows 10 on an XP computer so I try not to upgrade. I understand that not upgrading might cause security problems but that has never been an issue for me. | Bypass pattern lock on ASUS Zenfone 3 Max ZC553KL Posted: I got ASUS Zenfone 3 Max ZC553KL which I put in the drawer years ago, because I did not think it will be useful to me anymore, since I am using iPhone. But I thought maybe I can use it today, so I am happily taking it out of the drawer and there's this one scary thing... pattern lock. Now, I tried every pattern I could remember, but it did not work. Without hesitate and thinking, I decided to factory reset the phone. Everything's fine, setting it as new... and it asks me to verify pattern. Welp. Is there anything I can do? I think the real problem is I somehow broke it... I am trying to draw the pattern, but it's not showing, just always pop-ing up with saying "try again in 30 seconds" no matter what. | Google Assistant vs Siri for handicapped user Posted: My father is handicapped and not able to hold the phone or use the touchscreen at all. The only way he is able to use a phone is through voice control. I do not know which OS would be good for his needs. When in public he has to get strangers to unlock his phone for him in order to be able to use his voice assistant for calling or texting. This defeats the purpose of him having the phone and ruining independence. We are eyeing two phones within our budget that are the same price, NEW IPhone SE and Samsung Galaxy A50. He wishes to: -Text -Call -Start playing audio books/podcasts/music with his voice -Turn on and off smart plugs -Have compatability with Google home mini (willing to switch to a different smart speaker though) -Access all voice assistant features without needing to physically unlock or touch the phone His current phone is the Galaxy A01 (yes it's horrible, we wanted a cheap test phone to make sure he would use it regularly). | One of my apps is using the wrong Google Play Store account. Posted: I've dug all through the app settings and can't find a way to swap to the correct Play Store account. It's a logic puzzle game and when I make a purchase of a new puzzle pack, I can't earn Play points or use my Google Play balance because it's on the wrong account. I have looked for a way to swap Play Store accounts while on the purchase screen and can't find one. To clarify, the actual Play Store app on my phone is the correct account, and every other app uses the correct account, but this one specific app won't let me swap. What are my options on getting this corrected? It's my absolute favorite logic puzzle app and there are no good alternatives so I really don't want to lose it. | Is there a way to force Android to ask if I REALLY want to uninstall something? Posted: BACKSTORY: Feel free to skip after the line, if you want. I have a problem. I'm very addicted to some apps and websites and I want out. I've battled this for a few months and, honestly, it was tougher than I imagined. Right now, I am using THREE different blocks to get the desired effect: block apps, prevent me from unblocking them, prevent me from accessing them and prevent me from uninstalling the blockers. I won't go into details (unless someone asks) but for the record I went so far that I've blocked myself from using CONTROL PANEL on my desktop, I've blocked Google Play, I've prevented myself from uninstalling ANY app on my device; hell I've blocked the whole damn settings on my Android. That is just how badly I want to stop this. I managed to cover up everything but uninstalling from Home Screen; the very last thing. The problem that I have is that when I go to uninstall an app, there is a small fraction (shorter than a second) that lets me tap the uninstall button just in time for it to work. My question: is there any way to do either one of the two things that I asked in the title? Is there an app that gives you a custom toast message when you go to uninstall it? Is there an option in Android itself that asks you "Are you sure?" like it usually does with computer programs? I want to prevent this, to force Android to go "wait, are you sure" even if I click OK. Help? PS: Is there a way to set an application to be a Device Admin App or does it need to be coded by the developers? I feel like that is the best way this could work, and it would help out so much. | Ring volume turns to 0 automatically Posted: I have a huge problem, periodically ring volume will turn to 0 for no reason. I also do not get any sounds for new messages. Sound definitely works normally for apps like Youtube, alarms, etc..
There should be no way ring volume could change form the 75% I set it to manually but it does. Weirder yet, I just got a call and only noticed because it vibrated, but vibration was turned off. When ring volume is turned to 0 it shows in the settings but vibrations are never on in the settings, yet it occasionally vibrates for calls. Any idea why this happens or any way I can get more help? | Posted: My Galaxy Tab S6 is no longer fast charging. I am using an original Samsung charger and cord that can fast charge my phone, I have tried other wall outlets, I have thoroughly cleaned out the charging port, I have cleared the cache partition, I have booted into safe mode, I have assured that the fast charging capability is turned on in the settings, and currently I am doing a full battery cycle reset by draining the battery then charging to 100%. The confusing part is that I can get it to charge slowly with any charger that is not a fast charger and the fast chargers are not charging it at all. Usually if there is lint or something in the port the Samsung fast chargers will just charge slowly but they aren't working on the tablet at all. Is it possible that I should try a factory reset? The only reason I think the OS shouldn't matter is because the tablet does not fast/slow charge with Samsung chargers even when it is off so it feels like a hardware issue. | Posted: So, we "know" that brands working with the Chinese Government (likely military) are brands that developers (like myself) would like to avoid due to concerns about IP. But, I have to ask, are ALL Chinese mobile brands working for/with the CCP? So we know some problem companies are; Huawei, and Xiaomi (and all their subsidiaries). However, what about BBK Electronics (One Plus), etc.? I don't want to get into subjective information here.
