Android Questions: App says rooted even though I don't have a root?

App says rooted even though I don't have a root?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:18 AM PDT

I was trying out a game I really like today but turns out the game refuses to run because "my device is rooted" even though it's not, I did use to have root in my device though, I had it about a year ago someone stole it and installed the root on it to change the IMEI on the device so I won't be able to track it, but I'm pretty sure the root is gone now after a few software updates, what can I do about this?, Device is Redmi Note 9s

How to disable immediately switching to bluetooth speakers?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 10:55 AM PDT

I have bluetooth speakers (using a logitech receiver) and a bluetooth headset. I usually leave the speakers' receiver plugged in all the time for convenience. However, if I'm using the headset away from the house and then come back, my phone reconnects with the speakers and android automatically switches media output to the speakers, which pauses I was listening to.

Is there a way to have android connect without switching media output, or not connect until I tell it to?

My phone is already rooted so if a solution requires root access that's fine.

Edit: if the problem is the receiver (I don't know quite enough about bluetooth to tell), does anyone know a good receiver that doesn't have this issue?

Google Search app doesn't seem to be in my control anymore. I am concernedned about my privacy.

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 08:00 AM PDT

I used to be (I am) pretty concerned about privacy and so I had deleted all google related apps and replaced them with DuckDuckgo and Fdroid etc. Now the thing is, you can't delete the google app without rooting your android, so I disabled it. But now it just keeps coming back up, enabling itself every 2 minutes after I disable it. It feels like a Virus, but I scanned the phone and its pretty clean. Also, when it comes back, it has all of the permissions like location, phone etc, enabled, even if I had disabled them. Is there a way to get around it? And more importantly, how is it doing it? Ps - I own Samsung's M31s(It is an India only lineup, but can be compared to A50/A70)

Not sure if this is the right place or even that big of a deal but I think it's weird/ugly and might take up a little more ram?

This is what it looks like now. Is it the same for everyone else?

Why don't push notifications work for deep-sleeping apps?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 12:08 PM PDT

I've always noticed how, with iPhones, apps will never fail to send notifications, even when said apps are almost never used. Yet, on Android, some apps send notifications reliably, even when I open them as rarely as once every two weeks, while other apps literally only send notifications when the app is open and running in the foreground. In One UI, I prefer to have all of my gaming and music apps in the never sleeping apps list, no apps in the always sleeping apps list, and everything else in the regular sleeping apps list. The regular sleeping apps list allows apps to wake up periodically to do what they need to do, syncing stuff, so on and so forth. I find it to be the best balance of battery life and reliable background syncing, so it's not something I want to change. However, I notice that some apps will send me notifications the instant there's a notification to show me, and no apps I use ever send me notifications only in like these seemingly scheduled batches, so clearly sleeping apps should be able to send notifications (perhaps through Google Play Services?)

How do I Figure Out What Is Causing Battery Drain or Bad Battery Pixel 4XL Lineage W/ MicroG?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 11:35 AM PDT

    Pixel 4XL

    - How do I Figure Out What Is Causing Battery Drain? Determine if the battery is bad or is it drain from newest Lineage W/ MicroG?

    - Screen Usage 4 hours for a Charge

    - Battery Usage: Quick Drop mid graph

    - Seems to be dropping % excessively especially when I use a location based app (MicroG)

    - MicroG Location Modules "NLP" (All On) - Apple Wifi, Deja Vu, GSM Location Service, Mozilla Location Service, Radiocells.org, Wifi Location Service.

    - Browser are 5% Ussage as are most apps under 5%

    - Newest Lineage Build W/ MicroG

    - Check in Settings Apps to see most draw, nothing stands out as excessive

    - Use Mainly Wifi with Full Bars Signal

    - Have on Battery Saver

    - Extreme Power Saver

    - Screen Brightness is 1/4 Brightness on slider

    - No Bluetooth

    - Tried with VPN On and Off Same Battery Drop

I have Samsung s8, haven't updated Chrome in a long ass time but it still one day switched to tab grid layout. Help finding my CSC

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 10:16 AM PDT

Hey guys feeling kind of dumb here.. Can't figure out the CSC on my phone.. I want to install the latest version of the official Samsung from https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-J510H.

So I have lineageOS 14.1 installed on my phone and I'm trying to figure out why my CSC is so I can download and install the correct version of the official Samsung ROM for 7.1.1

I tried the *#1234# thing and it didn't do anything.

I installed Phone INFO that gives me this:

    Product code: SM-J510HZKDEGY

    Original CSC Code: EGY

    Active CSC Code: EGY

    Everything else is empty..

So when I go to the site it says there are 3 different EGY downloads for EGY and I don't know which one to download..

Any help would be amazing! Thanks!

Wi-Fi connection keeps disconnecting and reconnecting on all android phones

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 08:51 AM PDT

At first it happened on few different Samsung model phones. I shipped my S20 to Samsung and they flashed it and said it was ok. Set it up again and it started happening again. So I got a new phone, the oneplus 8, happened on that one too. Then I returned it and got another phone. The TCL 10 5G UW, and it's happening on this one too. I googled it and went through steps and fixes, and nothing worked. It's happening on multiple routers. We live in a place with no reception so we just use wi-fi. Both routers are AT&T so it might have something to do with that, but I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TL:DR All android phones disconnect and reconnect every few minutes

How to add an account for Google Calendar without getting email?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 08:24 AM PDT

I work in the medical field, so protected patient information is sometimes attached to my emails. For that reason, I'm not allowed to have my work email synched to me phone. However, I'd like to be able to get notifications from Google Calendar for meetings and such. From what I can tell, the only way to not include that email address's emails in gmail is to remove the account from my phone, which also removes it from the Google Calendar app. Is there a way around this?

Opening Up The Samsung Keyboard After Screenshotting Crashes the App

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 08:19 AM PDT

Title says it all. Everytime I screenshot something on my phone it makes it so any input that will bring up the onscreen keyboard will crash the app until I restart my phone or re-download the app. I was wondering why this is happening or if it is something to do with my settings or files?

Moving files from internal storage to SD card not freeing up internal storage (Galaxy S9)

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 07:48 AM PDT

    Hi there,

For the past several weeks, my 64gb S9 has been "dangerously low" on internal storage- anywhere from 200-800mb left, typical. I have a 256gb microsd which primarily holds photos and video files, but also a number of apps. There's the situation of apps jumping back over to internal storage seemingly randomly (I think any time they receive an update?) but that's another issue.

My microSD's free space has slowly been shrinking as I move files and apps over from internal, yet somehow my internal storage continues to be nearly filled at all times. It's almost like the SD card keeps "taking" the data, but the internal storage isn't actually freeing up space for itself. Anyone else having this issue?

My phone has been great overall, for its age, but this is really making me considering upgrading to an S20 with larger internal storage while they're still available.

    TIA

    Enforce headphone mode?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:44 AM PDT

Hey so I've damaged my audio jack or there is a software issue but I lose the connection randomly if I move the phone and then it won't connect again until I unplug and leave it. I can plug it in and see the headphone icon but then slightly touch/shake the phone and I lose connection, though I can leave it lying on the table and it works no problem.

So I've been wondering if there's a way to change to headphone mode manually? I've tried Lesser AudioSwitch and even enabled the 'Prevent accidental disconnect' but even then headphone mode turns off occasionally.

If I hold/angle the 3.5mm jack to the right or left then connection is fine regardless of how much I shake my phone so obviously there is some connection issue internally but maybe software could be the fix? I've tried many cheap usb-c to 3.5mm adapters but it seems like the phone doesn't support that feature

Phone is Xiaomi Redmi note 9s

    Samsung Galaxy A40 Not Working

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:39 AM PDT

So recently my phone stopped working. Every now and then it would randomly restart, but now it either stops on the turning on screen or resets seconds after it starts. I don't know why. My dad thinks it's an app doing it, but before it comlpetely stopped working I ran several tests and they found nothing. I even rebooted my phone and tried the ,,test the apps'' Since I could just buy a new phone, here comes the main problem. I don't have my data backed up and most ways to store them in a PC require the phone to be on and to do something in the settings. Does anyone know how to fix the phone/recover my data?

    Android alarm app weirdness...

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 04:27 AM PDT

So, when an alarm time is set, and the phone is turned off, the default Google Alarm app is able to turn the phone on, and actually play the alarm.

However, no matter how I configure, say, The Clock app, it can't turn on the phone when a set alarm time is reached, nor does it seem to actually play any sounds...

Something is broken, and I can't for the life of me figure out what exactly I'm supposed to do.

This problem seems universal to all non-Google alarm apps.

If you need more details, if necessary, ask. :)

Battery drain fix for Android 11

    Posted: 28 Apr 2021 06:46 AM PDT

You need to download Galaxy Labs if it's not already installed in your system, you can find the latest version on SamMobile just use the search bar, after installing you'll see 4 apps but you only need "app booster" now boost your apps and that's it. Ignore the other apps unless they actually work on your phone!
