HDMI CEC not working (my ps4 pro won’t turn on my tv anymore)

    Posted: 05 Feb 2021 12:49 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

I used to turn on my TV by turning on my ps4 pro with the home button on my controller using HDMI CEC but for some reason it's not working any more.

I have a TCL tv running AndroidOS and I don't understand what seems to be the issue. The HDMI Link option in my ps4 is turned on as well as as the one in my TV settings. (Which i've read that this can be the problem but idk how?)

If anyone has a solution please enlighten me because it is very inconvenient as I don't have a remote controller and must turn on my tv manually.

    Thank you.

    Philips Android TV

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 10:37 PM PST

I have a Philips Android TV (65PUT7374) and whenever I switch to a HDMI source, whatever app I am using in the TV closes on return. I have to reopen the app again and start using it. This gets a bit tiring especially when you are streaming. Is this the normal behavior or is there anyway to keep the app remain open while switching to a HDMI source?

Is it possible to change the OS on a Hisense Android TV?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 01:25 PM PST

We bought a Hisense Android TV from a certain box store famous for blue shirts and geeks. Anyway I pretty much hate the TV now. The picture is great, but that is where the good ends in my opinion. I was having all sorts of problems with the TV becoming unresponsive. Hisense finally emailed me instructions on how to load an OS update through USB. But their update seems to be only some minor cosmetic crap, and is still just as buggy as the original OS. Back in the day I used to root my Android phones, and change to a different version of Android. This got me to wondering if this is possible with Hisense Android TV. Is it possible, and are there other Android operating systems that people have had success with loading directly to the TV?

    Archived sports games

Is there an app that has classic sports games? I'm looking to watch some old school hockey games from the 80s and 90s. Any apps that are out there?

Force WiFi to stay on without Internet?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 12:03 PM PST

My ISP is having problems today, so I'm watching videos off the server on my LAN on my Bravia TV. Problem is, every time the Internet craps out, the TV decides the WiFi must be bad and disconnects.

Is there a setting somewhere to force the "bad" WiFi to stay connected? On Android phones I've seen a dialog pop up asking if it should stay connected, but I don't see that on the TV.

Connecting Bose qc35 to Sony af8 tv

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 11:52 AM PST

Had the headset connected before, used it plenty. Went to use it today, went under Bluetooth and saw the headphones but pairing failed. Now I cannot make it reappear no matter what. Cleared headset device list, reset tv, turned bt off and on.

Normally I can always fix this type of stuff myself, but this damn tv has a mind of its own. Damn good picture tho :)

    Anyone got solution suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

    New to AndroidTV

    Posted: 04 Feb 2021 12:23 PM PST

I recently heard and am looking in getting into androidTV and I had a few questions.

    1. Are there free tv channels it can browse? If so how many and if you can find it what are they?
    2. I have heard of hybrid android boxes. Are they just as good or would it be better to stick with straight IPTV?
    3. In terms of getting specific channels are there services that provide a wide variety of channels or am i stuck paying $10 to 5 different subs a month.
    4. Is there some hardware that you find is the best to use when both on and off a budget?

I am sorry if any of these are obvious but as I can find information on the hardware there's not much definitive info I can find on the tv channel subs/software

Here is my review of the Google Certified Mecool KM6 Deluxe Android TV box.

This device, is one the newest Google Certified devices to come from China. It is running the latest SoC from Amlogic, the S905X4. Very powerful and fast for a small device that plays pretty much everything, including the newest AV1 video codec......
