My Philips TV updated to Android 9 last week Posted: 21 Jan 2021 10:56 PM PST Don't even use Android TV, casting from my phone is easier. Mostly use TV as UHD computer monitor. I didn't notice much difference. It's hard to find info on Android TV 9 using Google. Strange results like TV Guide app or Android TV on Raspberry Pi. Here's the Philips announcement from last year: When will my Philips Android television update to Android 9? | Philips

How do you rearrange the app icons running down the lift side of the screen below the red Apps icon? Posted: 22 Jan 2021 08:06 AM PST For the life of me, I can't figure this out. I see where one can arrange the apps running across the screen, but I don't see any option for rearranging or adding to the ones running down the left, which show you what's available on the app, etc. [link] [comments] |

[Firefox TV][FIX] Menu button issues on Firefox TV is now solved! Posted: 21 Jan 2021 08:10 AM PST OK, So I may not be the first one to think of this, but I didn't see any other posts about this. So here is the solution I found! What you need
Installation
You should now be able to access the menu option from any app, but more importantly, Firefox TV. Let me know if I missed a step, or if I need to fix something. Enjoy! [link] [comments] |
Voice commands on Nvidia Shield 2017 pro remote don't work anymore. Any solution? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 09:45 AM PST Hi, guys. This is something happened to several other people. I can activate the voice command indicator but it won't hear at all. Voice commands/Google Assistant on the controller instead just work fine. I tried to fix it erasing the Google app cache or connecting it to usb port, as someone suggested, but it won't work. I also enabled the 'always on' feature on my remote. Occasionally, it still works, but it's a 99% fail. Tell me that someone found a solution, please [link] [comments] |
I am returning my CCwGTV and here is why Posted: 21 Jan 2021 12:02 PM PST After trying to get the new chromecast to work for a whole month, I am sending back this device. The home screen is littered with ads, even for services which I did not subscribe to. It does NOT show recommendations for anything non prime/netflix/disney. No arte, no plex, no local services (ARD/ZDF in Germany). I have tried everything from tweaking buttons and installing different launchers but I cannot get it to work completely. Wolf Launcher gets rid of the ads and lag, but ambient mode doesn't work. The "apps only" mode is NOT A VIABLE OPTION. It forces you to use a row with maximum 20 apps (no columns??????) It still shows ads in full screen on the top. Assistant and ambient mode stop working. The only reason "apps only" exists is to kick the user right back into "ad mode". These are all things that work on other android tv boxes and are deliberate decisions by Google. My house used a multitude of google products (like a ton of minis) but the new chromecast will not be one of them. [link] [comments] |
