Which custom ROM is the better for me? Posted: 22 Jan 2021 03:43 AM PST So I own a Poco X3 NFC which runs MIUI. I really dislike this software and thus decided to unlock my bootloader. After waiting for a week, it was finally unlocked so I decided to flash TWRP and a custom ROM. So far I'm stuck on deciding between Arrow OS and Evolution X. Now, here's the thing. I know this is a really noob question, I really have no knowledge about this. Evolution X uses lesser RAM (about 3.5 GB free) and Arrow OS uses a lot (about 2.3 GB free). I did some research and found out that my phone needs to use as much RAM as possible while keeping about 150 MB free. But other sources said that free RAM helped with battery life. My main priority is battery life so which option is better? There is a pretty stark difference here. I certainly wouldn't want to have slower speeds than the stock ROM or worse battery life. Also, which kernel would you guys recommend for the best possible battery life? I don't really play any intensive games, so underclocking it a bit (preferably with no massive speed difference) would be nice. Thanks in advance. P.S. Sorry, title has a typo! [link] [comments] |

Anyone seen this background glitch before? Posted: 22 Jan 2021 12:12 PM PST I opened my phone and the background was a zoomed in YouTube thumbnail of a video I recently clicked on. I've never seen a glitch like this and I used the factory reset option to fix it. (feared it was a hacker or virus related) [link] [comments] |

Since updating to 11 my notifications are interrupting media. Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:38 AM PST Since I updated to android 11, every notification interrupts any media playing. I have no notification sounds, only vibrate. I'm going insane. Someone please tell me how to fix this. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:28 AM PST Hi, how do I download and back up the full history of text messages (and photos) that I have sent and received with a specific contact in my phone? I want to make sure I don't lose it. I use the Verizon Messages app on my Galaxy S8+ if that helps. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
[Samsung S20] Got a text from a email with a malicious link, am I safe? Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:25 AM PST So today I saw in my notifications that I got a SMS message from a email weirdly, and the link was something like singlegirls and it was obviously a scam/malware. I didn't click the link, and just deleted the message. I checked the history of my default browser (Samsung Internet) and didn't see it. I had to click the message on the notifications to see what the message was, but a browser didn't open up. Is my phone safe? Do I need to factory reset my phone? [link] [comments] |

Notification Banners Not Working Posted: 22 Jan 2021 07:18 AM PST Ever since I updated to Android 11 on my Note 20 Ultra, my notification banners aren't popping up. Has anyone else had this issue? I tried posting to r/note20ultra but didn't get any responses, I wasn't sure if it was specific to the phone model or if it's a general OS issue. I have the Snapdragon Note if that makes a difference [link] [comments] |
Torn on switching from iPhone 11 to S21 Ultra Posted: 22 Jan 2021 10:46 AM PST I'm a career software developer who has never owned an Android device. I've been really impressed with all the initial reviews of the S21 Ultra, and I want to love this phone, but there are two things holding me back. Am I overthinking this?
All input is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
one plus 6, third of the screen grey Posted: 22 Jan 2021 10:39 AM PST a couple weeks ago i started having a patch of grey on my screen that flickers a bit, it would just go away after a bit but today it didn't. it also become very dark, almost can't see anything on that part, after booting into safe mode it went away for a bit but came back gray again. https://imgur.com/a/x98Ki0Z here's a pic of how it looks. I have the phone for 2.5 years but there wasn't any major damage recently [link] [comments] |
Charging blocked due to moisture/debris... Posted: 22 Jan 2021 09:33 AM PST Lately, when I charge my LG G6, it will start beeping, and show a notification that charging is blocked due to moisture of debris. The phone definitely isn't wet, and I have tried cleaning the port with a little plastic stick, but it still has problems. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. And usually holding the plug in hard with my hand seems to help. I don't know if there is any way to fix with without special tools or sprays, but as far as I know this charging protection can be disabled. But is this dangerous for the phone? I know it would no longer be waterproof, but if it is kept dry, would this be ok? Or could the debris or whatever is causing the error also damage the phone if the protection is turned off? Anyone know about this? [link] [comments] |

The option is there so must be some way to it work. Btw i'm using OneUi 3.0 with A11. Using work profile through island. [link] [comments] |
Unlocked & carrier locked galaxy phones in NA regions Posted: 22 Jan 2021 08:52 AM PST So someone was telling me that at least in the USA/Canada, for Samsung Galaxy unlocked phones (as in bought directly from Samsung) they become like a carrier locked phone after you insert the SIM card as it loads the carrier specific software/bloatware/logo screen/etc after reboot, and stays that way until you move to a different carrier after which it does the same process. Is this how it works there or is this some policy for initially carrier locked ones that get unlocked after or something he's talking about (..samsung specific?)? If so wouldn't this mean that there's little difference between locked and unlocked as far as avoiding bloatware from NA carriers? [link] [comments] |
Which android phones let you have multiple users? Posted: 21 Jan 2021 02:21 PM PST Apparently samsung disabled the android feature to let you have multiple users. Not sure why but maybe because of their secure folder feature. Id like to find an android phone that lets me use multiple users. Which phone manufacturers haven't disabled this? [link] [comments] |
Where to find instructions for Galaxy Tab S7 tablet? Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:15 AM PST Just bought this tablet and despise it. Bloated apps, can't disable some apps you don't want, ugh. I'm doing lengthy web searches for simple stuff, like just getting the percentage of battery to show instead of just the icon. There has to be a manual or something? (I'd switch to my favorite launcher but what is optimized for a cell phone doesn't always work with a tablet.) [link] [comments] |

Wireless charging not work on Pixel 3 Posted: 22 Jan 2021 07:03 AM PST Today I noticed that the wireless charging is not working on my Pixel 3 (not Pixel 3 XL). My carrier is Verizon (however I buy my phones thru Google). I am thankful that charging thru the usb cable still works. Any way I can fix this? Thank you in advanced. [link] [comments] |
Some questions for Samsung OneUI Users Posted: 22 Jan 2021 07:00 AM PST Considering moving from Pixel 5 to a Galaxy S21 when it is released. I was hoping someone might be able to help me with some questions before I pre-order. Question 1 - Gestures Frankly, I hate the back gesture on stock Android (swiping from the edges of the screen). It interferes with typing, stops pull-out menus from working easily, and messes up things at the edge of the screen. I'm currenlty using Fluid Navigation gestures, but this also causes problems. It looks like Samsuing have now adopted this stupid gesture too. Is there a way to replace it with different gestures with GoodLock or something else? Oneplus has 'swipe up' from the bottom-left or bottom-right to go back and it is leagues better than this. Can I replicate that somehow? Question 2 - App drawer Does the app drawer have to be horizontal panels? I really prefer vertical scrolling lists of apps. I am not interested in third party launchers due to animation / gesture issues so would be looking to use the stock launcher but I can't stand horizontal drawers that require multiple swipes. Question 3 - Fonts I like all my apps to use the same font for consistency. Most Google apps use Product Sans (or Google Sans?). I understand Good Lock can change the font. Is there a way to use Google Sans / Product Sans as the system font? Question 4 - Icons Can I replace the squircle icons with either round or square at a system level? Will a Samsung theme do this? And will it change them throughout the share menus, or just in the launcher? Question 5 - Gallery Intents If I take a photo and click the thumbnail to review, does it open Google Photos, or a Samsung gallery app? Can I choose to open Google photos? The reason I ask is that I usually take several photos and it is a pain if I have to delete them in both Samsung's photos and Google's cloud backup. Much better to just delete them in Google photos. Question 6 - Phone Can I use the Google Phone app in the Play Store which has spam blocking? If not, are the links in the Samsung dialer hardcoded to open Samsung's contacts app, or can I use Google contacts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Jan 2021 06:57 AM PST My Gmail app stopped syncing my emails for a while, I switched off sync for a day and switched it back on and it fixed it. But now I'm getting notifications for spam, and it's going straight into my inbox, not the junk folder, when I look at it in the app. Yet my email provider is correctly doing what it's always done right, and spam is moved straight into the junk folder when looking on their web client. I have watched spam arrive on the web client, directly into junk because the provider has indentured it, then shortly android decides I need a notif for it and plops it into my inbox. Report spam isn't helping because my email provider is already identifying it correctly. I know 3 other people with the same email provider and I'm the only one with this problem, so I think it's my own app/device at issue here. [link] [comments] |
Manually select favorites of who to send links to via text? Posted: 22 Jan 2021 06:53 AM PST I always send links to the same select few when I'm using messenger. Not messenger+. Yet it doesn't change the top 4 choices of who to send to. I figured they would be the most common or most recent people. Instead it shows someone I've barely sent something to. So whenever try to send a link, I have to manually select the friend I want to send to. Is there any way to change who those top 4 people are? Samsung Galaxy S10+ [link] [comments] |

Chat bubbles can't seem to be disabled on MIUI 12.2.4.0 Android 11 Posted: 22 Jan 2021 05:55 AM PST Hey peeps, i'm in a slight need of assistance. Does anybody know what's the deal with the fucking bubbles? Just updated my poco f2 pro to MIUI 12.2.4.0 and i am now on android 11 (to be honest, i don't remember if i was on 10 before the ui update). This feature appeared out of nowhere, with no introduction or explanation, is completely unusable and CANNOT be disabed. There is no mention of bubbles in settings whatsoever, even in the developer options. Nothing remotely similar in notif settings. I can only manually switch it off for EVERY SINGLE CONVERSATION in telegram by clicking the little arow on the bottom right, and only when i receive the message notification. Not to mention it now looks horrendous. Shit sucks ass. Can't find anywhere to disable it in the app's settings, too. Googled it and found nothing as well. Maybe i'm blind, but i would really appreciate some help :- ( [link] [comments] |
