Posted: 13 Dec 2020 06:16 AM PST Pretty much the title. I have a samsung with nova launcher that isn't using any fancy animations or anything. It's purely there just so i can make a pretty home screen. Is it more taxing on the phone than just leaving whatever samsung calls its stock launcher? [link] [comments] |
How to auto-sync phone photos to Windows PC over wifi Posted: 13 Dec 2020 06:10 AM PST With google photos removing its free plan, I've been thinking about better ways to backup my photos. Is there a way for me to auto-sync my photos from my android phone to my windows pc each time I connect to my home wifi? [link] [comments] |

verizon message+ been hacked... for real! Posted: 12 Dec 2020 08:19 PM PST Text message+ has been hacked via email. I reported it yesterday and today to +611. Over 100 of Verizon customers are affected last night and today another 50 or 60 additional. Not counting how many have not responded to the texts... every time a new number is added or someone actually responds to the text; we all get notified... people are pissed, and the texts asking to stop, get out and foul language is massive... Verizon does not know how to fix. They cannot block the email which started a group chat. They cannot even access the chat to get us out of the group chat. Verizon customers from all over are dealing with this. And the numbers is increasing as more are added to the chat. Our phones are going off constantly and notifications and blocking is not possible as new numbers are added. Help! Verizon did a ticket and did a remote view to confirm what I just wrote. Its not good. And again, the customers in the chat did not do this and are from all over! 20 messages within minutes. At all hours! And we all are also receiving texts from multiple email addresses that are definitely spam. Which we did not have before ever! How in the world can an email be sent to a text? Who knew it possible? Not me! not Verizon either, as both techs said its a first for them to hear... [link] [comments] |
Can I use a headphone 3.5mm connector type C even if I have a headphone jack? Posted: 13 Dec 2020 08:32 AM PST I have a Oppo A5 2020 which has a headphone jack but I need to use the connector as I the headphone jack is too close to the charging port and sometimes I would need to use them together [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Dec 2020 11:56 AM PST Hey guy! I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I wanted to buy some wireless earbuds(Headphones). So I wanted to ask for any suggestions on which ones to buy. They should be affordable though. [link] [comments] |
Issue with Android notifications Posted: 13 Dec 2020 11:52 AM PST Hi, So, basically I've decided to remove Google from my life as much as possible, and being an owner of a Samsung Galaxy device, installing something like LineageOS would trip Knox, effectively rendering my warranty useless, so this wasn't a step I could take. Because of this, I actually ended up setting a local VPN network with a block list denying all Google domains. This ended up working pretty well and I noticed that all of Google's traffic was being effectively blocked, however, I ran into one issue: Notifications stopped working for most apps, presumably because some Google API call is being blocked, so I'm basically missing out important updates or messages. Is there some app which could handle the notifications but not being associated with Google? I'm aware of MicroG, but I'm not able to run it with default Google system apps. If this is not possible, what exact API call is being blocked so I can add it to my whitelist? [link] [comments] |
Running Xperia xa2 just wih brave or Google go? Posted: 13 Dec 2020 11:33 AM PST I use a Xperia xa2 running on android 9. It's not getting any future updates. I still want to use it for surfing, social media and watching videos .having uninstalled assistant and Google already. If I deinstall all unnecessary apps would it work just using brave or Google go using most sites only on the browser version? Like Facebook or Gmail or Reddit [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Dec 2020 06:13 AM PST Hi My 3 year old Moto G5 Plus running android 8.1 suddenly restarted today and went into Start up failure. It no longer shows My product IMEI number. It just shows potter 000000000000000 32GB P3B Bootloader logs read " Start up failure. Your device didn't start up successfully. Use the Software Repair Assistant on computer to repair your device. Connect your device to your computer to get the Software Repair Assistant" written in red. I have my IMEI and product numbers saved on my pc, but the LMSA does not recognise my device to even try to rescue it. I want to retrieve files from my phone before attempting a factory reset. On using the LMSA, it says "lmsa doesn't match appropriate firmware. you can try to select a firmware manually" but then it has no option to select anything manually. I have my phone previously registered on the software on my PC. I have not rooted my phone, nor used anything other than stock. My bootloader is locked. I cannot remember if I had Developer options selected or not, most probably not. Please help! I really need to recover my photos. Is there any way? Any software? [link] [comments] |
Testing Android phone's battery Posted: 13 Dec 2020 09:47 AM PST I bought a refurb phone. An LG G8X. It's the Dual screen phone, but I was able to snag just the phone for $200 refurb. but in perfect shape. I've had it for a little more than a week, and I really like it. I have 2 complaints. 1 is the finger print scanner is only ok. But this is a normal complaint when reading online. The second is the battery seems to drain pretty quick. I can get just barely 2 days with medium use. for a brand new phone that seems a little low. Is there a stress test or anything I can run to see how far it is from the baseline? [link] [comments] |

My phone has moving apps to sdcard deliberately broken. How to fix? Posted: 13 Dec 2020 09:40 AM PST First let me say that any answers relating to "get a new device", or "Why would you want to put apps on an sdcard, it's slow" will be a waste of my time and yours. I want an answer to the questions I am about to ask, not an opinion on phones or sdcard storage. I have a umx u693cl phone with android 10, and a 32gb sdcard . I have repeatedly formatted the sdcard to be internal storage, both from it asking upon insertion, and from the three dots menu. The card DOES work. I have had zero issues using it to transfer media from my computer, and when set to force apps to sdcard, or downloading from the app store while it is being used as internal storage, it does exactly what you would expect. Moving apps from sdcard to internal storage also works without a hitch. The problem that I am encountering is twofold. First, when I try to move apps to the sdcard from internal storage, I am repeatedly told "the operation failed due to insufficient storage space". Yes they are apps that say they are eligible to be moved without force all apps to sdcard being on. It has done this regardless of the space available on the sdcard, even when the sdcard is completely empty, and freshly formatted as internal storage. Second, when installing an app from the app store while the sdcard is in place to be used as additional internal storage, any app eligible to be installed on the sdcard will do so, but then acts like it has no write permissions when it is run. I.e. A game with a one time tutorial it runs upon first start of the app, then sets a flag not to run again, will run the tutorial every single time the app is run, as if it is unable to save it's settings file while on sdcard internal storage. If I then move the example app to true internal storage, it moves without a hitch, no errors, no issues, and works exactly as it is supposed to. With an sdcard that is fully functional, has the storage space it claims to have, is capable of having apps installed on it by the app store, and has zero issues moving things FROM the internal sdcard storage TO the phones internal storage, quite obviously it has been deliberately disabled from working the other way around. The phone is loaded with uninstallable bloatware, and I am sick to death of uninstalling 5 or 6 apps to fix "insufficient storage for download. Uninstall some apps to free up internal storage" every single time something wants to update. I want what I should reasonably be able to expect. To move eligible apps to sdcard to free up internal storage space. How do I fix this? Can I fix it by rooting? How do I root this particular device if necessary (have not rooted since android 4)? If I root to fix this issue, will it be as simple as changing a protected XML file, or will I be required to use a custom rom? In any of those cases, will rooting the phone cause issues with my phone service? [link] [comments] |
Eonon GA2180A Android 10 headunit stuck on boot loop Posted: 13 Dec 2020 09:15 AM PST Can someone help? Help with ftp (I'm new to this) Posted: 13 Dec 2020 04:58 AM PST Hi, I happened upon a video in youtube about transferring files between android and windows and managed to do it for my 1 phone but it doesn't work for another. Solid explorer (same version for both phones) Phone 1 is android 10 Phone 2 is android 6 2 phones and laptop are connected to same home wifi network. Instructions I did for both were like this. Start/activate solid explorer ftp on phone. Then add network location in this pc in win10, then enter ftp address and then finish the dialog box.
Please help me with my 2 questions/issues. Thanks. Edit: I tried other ftp apps in play store for phone 2 (android 6 phone). None of them work in windows file explorer although they all work the same in browser. There's something wrong in my android 6 phone that I need to change for this to work. Please help. snapchat puts all my videos from camera roll automatically on snail mode Posted: 13 Dec 2020 07:20 AM PST hi i'd need some help because i literally can't find a solution to this problem on my own. whenever i try to add a video from my camera (ex. tiktok video) and add text to it, the whole video slows down. same happens when i don't even edit it but just instead upload it straight from the camera roll to my story. when unedited the video appears normal to me but is on "snail" mode to everyone who sees it. also sometimes the video doesn't even have an audio. this started like a week ago suddenly and is now pissing me off because i literally can't now post any content on my story without it going into the "snail" slowed down mode. PLEASE HELP ME!!! my phone is samsung galaxy A6 if it helps [link] [comments] |
Tools/Tips for helping grandparents use smartphones over long-distance? Posted: 13 Dec 2020 06:57 AM PST My grandparents have been trying to use their phones(android) a lot more during the COVID pandemic. I've been stepping them through stuff(setting up a video chat over messenger, etc.) over the phone but it definitely feels like it could be easier, I don't want them to get frustrated and give up. Only thing I saw that might be helpful was teamviewer but that's looks way too complicated to set up/use with them. Are there any tools/apps along side phone calls that can help me guide them? General advice is appreciated as well. [link] [comments] |
Family Link changes the time zone to China during setup. Is there any way to change it back? Posted: 13 Dec 2020 06:28 AM PST Child's device is now on a different time zone than other devices, displaying incorrect time and making bedtime settings incompatible between devices. Ghost touch or is my phone hacked? Posted: 13 Dec 2020 05:26 AM PST I was browsing Google a few minutes ago when my phone started acting on its own spamming the home and tabs buttons. I haven't installed or visited any shady sites so i doubt it is a hacker but I'm concerned a little [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Dec 2020 05:09 AM PST I often search for contacts using dialpad. This feature, plus YouTube vanced are the only features keeping me on Android. However, I noticed yesterday that for some reason, the search has gotten worse. Example: To dial Jay Smith, I'd start dialing 6-3-9 and it'd reduce my search results to all Jays, all numbers with 639, and all names with possible combinations of: JKL-ABC-WXYZ. However, now, Jay Smith only shows up if I type 6-3-9-7 (add the first letter of last name). Yes, a very minor thing, but infuriating, mainly because they apparently broke something that was working perfectly well. Anyone else who uses this feature and noticed this change? I am on pixel 3a xl in Canada. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Dec 2020 12:50 AM PST That is really confusing. I always had 5 apps in the bottom tray. Now I decided to substitute one of them for another app. So, I moved one of the apps out of the bottom tray. And now I was expecting to be able to put another app in this place, but I can not. So, in a nutshell. I had 5 apps in the bottom tray. I moved one app out and now I am allowed to have only 4 apps in the bottom tray. I have Xiaomi 9, Android 10, MiUi 12. Maybe someone stumbled across the issue too and will be able to help me? :) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 12 Dec 2020 11:56 PM PST So I deleted a compressed zip file of 12gb on my phone(a Nokia). It has an internal storage of 64gb. After a few seconds the file manager(google files) crashed. After being irresponsive for a while it started working again and immediately a notification popped up saying that my storage space is running out. So when I checked it showed that 64/64 gab was full. My phone ui crashed again. After restarting it showed 333mb free and crashed again. After force shut down and restarting now it shows 3. Something gigabytes free. I have a few questions to ask. Plz correct me if I'm dumb. I'm not much knowledgeable in these things 1. Shouldn't I have got 12 gigabytes of free space after deleting a file of the said size? 2. If it should have where the F is my 12 gigabytes ? 3. Why did my phone crash multiple times after that? And for those of u wondering the file I deleted wasn't related to the phone by any means. I have a potato pc and my phone was the only thing that was working properly till now. I can't loose my phone too. Plz help..send help.. anything.. I don't know if I'm supposed to ask this here or where else to ask..plz direct me to the right place if I'm asking in the wrong place. Posted: 13 Dec 2020 03:17 AM PST I'm asking this because there was an app I used. I really liked it but can't find it so I must of deleted it. And when I try to look for it in the play store 'My Apps & Games - Library" I cant find it so I'm guessing it has been removed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
