[DEV] In my free time over the past two years, I created my first game - a galaxy themed puzzle game called Reorbit. If you're looking for a free, laid back game on your commute, check it out!

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 06:00 AM PST

Over the past two years, I've been working as a solo dev in my spare time on my first game, Reorbit. Every day I go look at what's new on the r/AndroidGaming subreddit to get inspiration and was hoping to give back to the community.

    Youtube Trailer

    Imgur Gallery

The goal of the game is to match the colorful moons to the planets of the same color. You do this by rotating the moons with a single tap and then launch the moons along paths to other plants by tap-holding then releasing. It's a simple two input action puzzle game with a bunch of mechanics that throw wrinkles into the simple base idea. There is a scoring system where, by completing the level in the fewest amount of actions, you earn stars to unlock levels.

There are no pay-to-win or predatory IAPs. As a gamer myself, I hate those types of games and I will always make games that respect the players. There are ads every 5-10 minutes, but I tried to make them as unobtrusive as possible.

It's been a crazy long journey from just dabbling in Unity starting in 2010 to growing my capabilities into being able to release a full game. Over the last two years of working a full time job, getting married, and creating a side gamedev company, I sometimes thought I would never finish.

Thanks for everyone's support/feedback and keep playing awesome games!!

[DEV] My turn-based basketball simulation, Hoop League Tactics, is now open for beta testing!

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 02:30 PM PST

First, I want to thank /r/AndroidGaming for all the feedback and interest that I received in my initial post I made about my game three months ago. Back then it wasn't much more than a prototype and I honestly thought about abandoning the project if the reception wasn't high. The vision I had for the game wasn't clear and there wasn't really any game similar to it enough that I could follow in its footsteps. But all the enthusiasm I received pushed me into overdrive to continue developing the game.

If this is your first time hearing about Hoop League Tactics, I am developing a tactical turn-based basketball game inspired by strategy games such as X-COM. I've also been adding in a Season Mode which has basically turned the game into a sports management simulator. You'll have to draft players and develop them with player progression and skill trees. Players will get fatigued and eventually retire as they get older. Did I mention you can fully customize every player and team in the league?

If this sounds fun to you, I'm looking for feedback before the game releases on December 19th, 2019. You can also pre-register to be notified when the game launches if you'd prefer to wait. Please note that some features such as player skills and team upgrades are unfinished but will be completed before release.

    Pre-Register

    Sign up for the beta

Thanks for reading, I look forward to hearing any thoughts and feedback!

I'm looking for a game that I played years ago. It was a jump and run game where you palyed as a Vampire. The objective was to go up to the highest floor of a tower where you had to fight a Boss. There was a map with different tower. This is all that I remeber

[DEV] After 2000+ Hours of Development on a Mobile 4X Strategy Game about Potatoes- Finally Did a Kickstarter

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 02:55 PM PST

[DEV] After 2000+ Hours of Development on a Mobile 4X Strategy Game about Potatoes- Finally Did a Kickstarter

    Over 80% Funded!

Some of you may remember some of my previous posts in this subreddit- unless of course, you get confused with the other potato-themed 4X strategy games.

Firstly, I'd like to let you know that if you've clicked on this post, then you're in the minority special!

    • Most don't care about Kickstarters.
    • Most don't care about mobile games on Kickstarter.

So thanks for clicking on the post.

As the title suggests, for the last two years I've spent over 2000 hours developing a game about potatoes. It's somewhat similar to Civilization 5, but with potatoes instead of people, deep frying your troops alive to give them harder shells, and periodic sacrifices to the potato gods.

What do you do in DicTater?

When you start DicTater, you take on the mantle of the newfound leader of the Russets. The Russet potatoes have finally broken free from the grasps of potato slavery, and they look to you for guidance now that they have their own nation. Will you lead them to victory? Or will you die in a sad, sad fashion?

    Map, saaaaaay map!

Like the base elements of most other 4X Strategy games, you can:

    • Construct buildings to increase production within your empire.
    • Send out spytatoes to gather information on your enemies or assassinate their leaders.
    • Train potato troops to take the land of your enemies!
    • Research technologies: anything from spears to nuclear bombs!

Deep frying, deity sacrifice, and saltiness.

Of course, unlike other 4X strategy games, some mechanics are more oriented towards potatoes.

    • Deep fry your troops alive to give them harder outer shells.
    • Sacrifice your potato population to the potato gods daily so that they may give you their blessings.
    • Avoid rebellions as your potato population get salty at the fact that you conquered their land.

Communicating with some of the other potato factions!

There's more, but I've already written about quite a few mechanics on my website:

    https://dictatergame.com/dev-blog

    Can I Try the Game?

Thanks for asking! Why yes you can!

The game is not in beta, so that means that you can't find it on Google Play Store by searching for it. Instead, it is in an "open" alpha, or as close as I can get it.

You have to join a google group to get access to a link and the ability to download from that link. Here you go:

    Unlocking Research

You're a Developer, So You Want to Take My Money!

Well, yeah. But I'm not evil.

When I go onto the mobile store, I see a plethora of pay-to-win titles that would be otherwise really nice games. First thing that comes to mind is Mario Kart Tour. It looks like an awesome game, until you hit the pay-to-win grind. It makes games less fun.

Don't get me started on apps like Game of War.

DicTater will have no pay-to-win mechanics. It will be free to play with paid expansions to the game that will be balanced, but provide more depth to gameplay.

There will be free updates with every major expansion, and also cosmetics (that have no effect on gameplay) to unlock.

Kickstarter Link (if you care at all)

If you hate the idea, and you hate me, and if you think that I'm spamming or something, then pass me by (or leave a hateful comment if you'd like). I get it, it's not your cup of tea.

But if you like the idea at all, share the project or leave a few bucks.

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1114473396/dictater-4x-strategy-game-about-potatoes

    Training your potato troops!

Alright, I guess that's all I have to show. This game is wacky but has a lot to offer. At this point, it basically defines me. As I said in the Kickstarter page,

"Nothing short of a bus hitting my frail body at 50 miles per hour can stop me from finishing."

Thanks for reading/putting up with me.

[REQUEST] A game like "My Country"

    Posted: 06 Dec 2019 07:48 PM PST

I use to play this game years ago but its been discontinued. I tried getting "My Country 2020" but I dont think its for android because its not showing up in my playstore.

I particularly liked the way money and xp exploded out of the icons when you clicked them. Ive tried a few other city builder/idle games but they lacked the clean graphical style and gameplay simplicity of "My Country"

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.
