A big portion on the right is dead, say 1/3 of it's length. Is there a way to shrink and shift the screen to the left side in order to continue using it until I buy a new one? I have tried using the adb shell wm size, density and overscan commands. Especially the last two, seem to be able to do the trick, but configuring the desired overscan makes MIUI freak out. UI displays like it would normally, so the screen is not shrunk but cut. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 07 Dec 2019 07:57 AM PST I'm in need of an android emulator that I can mount a SD card to, and install an APK file onto. Long story short, my car's navigation got corrupt somehow so I had to buy a new SD card, and I have the files on my computer to make a new navigation SD card. Anyhow the directions are for me to install this activator APK onto an android device, and have it sign the SD card, then I copy my files onto it and plug it into my car and it works again Anyhow I have a full sized SD card as thats what my car uses, but I dont have any android device that uses a full sized SD card, so I need to use an emulator on PC. Anyone know of an app that I can use to do this? I currently have the SD card plugged into a USB adapter into my PC [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 07 Dec 2019 11:49 AM PST Hey, I don't know if this is the correct place to post it but need some advice. This morning I downloaded an app off the google and I was prompted to allow VPN? Some key notification appeared? It was early morning so I screwed up and just clicked yes. Anyways, since than now there is kind of a circle with an X in it that won't disappear and since that has appeared I get intrusive adds that block the screen and sometimes force me to go to chrome. I noticed that versions like android 4.0-4.1's UIs looked like Honeycomb's on ASUS' own tablets, but not on the Nexus 7, which they made. Is this something that Google or ASUS did? | Posted: 07 Dec 2019 11:42 AM PST about a hour ago, i had started receiving messages that told me that android UI had stopped, with one option to restart it. So I clicked it. My phone didn't turn on so I long pressed on the lock button. Only then it opened my screen and I was able to unlock it. This thing had become more and more frequent until it happened every time I unlocked my phone. Eventually, It stopped happening but my screen was blurry, so I tried long pressing the lock button in order to reboot it, but it just turned the screen on and off, even after I stopped pressing it. I barely ever use gifs, so I don't think it's saved gifs, the mobile data usage is at 17mb which is probably the size of the 3 gifs I've used in the last 4 months, telemetry and snippets are disabled and text is pretty small in terms of file size so what does it do with that storage and how can I prevent it accumulating more than maybe 30mb in extra storage? | Posted: 07 Dec 2019 11:19 AM PST For those of you that got new phones while your current phone still works, how have you repurposed your old phone and how often have you actually had to use it as a back up phone? ive always used my phones until they no longer work and then i get a new phone. i see all these good deals on phone and sometime i have the itch to buy one then i always tell myself if my current phone still works(be it the battery does not last all day and it lags sometimes, its a 3-4 year old phone), no point buying it. obviously you can sell your old phone and this is a non-issue. otherwise in what scenario have you used your back up phone(besides the obvious i broke the new phone) ? | Encrypting Rooted Galaxy s6 Running Nougat Posted: 07 Dec 2019 10:36 AM PST I've looked around a bit and haven't been satisfied yet. I have a Samsung Galaxy S6, and I am running Android 7.0. The device is rooted and I've installed the Xposed framework/Installer (which surprisingly worked, as I'm using a stock ROM which to my knowledge hasn't been deodexed). I've got everything set up the way I want it, and now I want to encrypt it. But I read some accounts of the android encryption failing and causing a headache. I checked out a couple 3rd party apps like SSE file encryptor/password vault. The problem I had with SSE is that every time I wanted to access an encrypted file i had to open up the app, type in the password, and it would create an unencrypted copy of the file (which I have to remember to delete). I just like the convenience of FDE that android does, specifically: --password required when turning phone on --data encrypted when phone is locked. --easy access to all my stuff when I'm in the phone Is there a 3rd party app that meets these criteria? While trying to fix an issue with Gmail (my emails with attachments won't send), I guess I messed something up, and now Keep acts like I never used it, even though I'm logged in and the web version works as usual. When I tried to sync it manually, I realized that it was nowhere to be found, neither in my Synced Accounts, nor anywhere else besides the app's icon (which works, but doesn't sync). I've tried reinstalling it, I've tried emptying the cache, I've rebooted my phone numerous times, but nothing works. Do you friends have any idea what I could do? Thanks a lot in advance! | Download one specific photo from WhatsApp Posted: 07 Dec 2019 09:03 AM PST I don't know if I'm just a dumbass or if this is actually a problem other people have but I haven't found a way to download a single, specific, picture or video from WhatsApp without having to turn on the default "save all to gallery." The easiest way I've found to get photos in my gallery is by first downloading it into my notes and then saving from there. Needless to say, this is a f***ing ridiculous way to need to save ONE photo. When I had an iPhone you would literally click on the photo within WhatsApp and there was a button to press called "save" and that was it. I'm really really hoping there's a similar function on Android (I currently have the Galaxy S9+) There has to be a better way to do this, preferably without having to download an additional app from the play store. I received an unlocked Google Pixel 3a XL as a gift, and I currently have a Verizon iPhone 5c (locked). | Posted: 06 Dec 2019 06:12 PM PST Title describes most of the story. I can send outgoing messages no problem. Only incoming texts are affected. Every new incoming text from ANYONE shows up under Tom's messages, and it's the same exact "meet at 5?" message over 30 times. I've spoken with Tom and he sent it once. I'm sitting next to a friend on the same network. I can send to him just fine. He gets the message and replies to me. Instead of his reply I get another "meet at 5?" from Tom. My thread with my friend next to me looks like a monologue. Using stock messaging app, then switched to Android messaging app, non-rooted Xiaomi 9T with US T-Mobile. Roaming internationally now but haven't had problems until a few hours ago. I've deleted the thread with Tom and even all of his contact information. That didn't help. I've just factory reset the phone; it's still happening. It's hard to even Google the problem because it's hard to explain enough in a quick search bar. Any ideas? Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 07 Dec 2019 06:38 AM PST I want to long press my home button to turn off my screen, rather than having to press the physical power button, which requires me to use two hands. I have found a few apps that will let me replace google assistant with any other app when I long press the home button. So I was thinking I could just have it launch an app that just turns off the screen. I can't seem to find an app that just does that though. I'm pretty sure one has to exist, but I can't seem to find one through all the other kinds of lockscreen apps out there. I also have tasker, but not sure if that helps. [link] [comments] |
