    I have just read about the vulnerability on the Google Play Core Library and became worried that the apps on my phone haven't updated and recompiled using the patched library.

    Is there a way for a non-security expert to check if an app has updated to the latest library?

    Is there a way to reorganize the "press and hold" special character picker in Gboard?

    Right now when I press and hold "e", the default option is 3. Since I am Polish, I use letters like "ą" and "ę". To get "ę", which I use far more often than 3, I need to press, hold, AND then swipe right. Can I make "ę" the default option that shows up after pressing and holding "e"?

    I want to add that I spent some time trying to figure it out, I also googled this question, but unfortunately found nothing.

    Phone Locating: App to Track Elderly?

    Occasionally I have to track my elderly father's whereabouts. We had set up his phone with a gmail account so I'd have the password and be able to login and locate the phone. He changed the password but forgot doing so and forgetting that this was the intent.

    Is there a simple app I can put on his phone (with his permission) that would allow me to locate it without having to go through Google or verifying the Google password manually?

    This is all for the safety of an aging man and not with the intent of spying on someone. He doesn't hear the phone, doesn't check voicemail and when he shows up hours later than expected I worry the entire time.

    Security concerns regarding selling a factory reset phone

    I want to sell my Android phone, but have some security and privacy concerns. Is a factory reset sufficient, if I don't want my data or files to be recoverable? I'm using a Huawei if it matters.

    Looking for previous tip posted on bypassing the need to unlock phone when using Power Menu controls

    Not too long ago a user posted to some android subreddit a workaround bypassing the need to unlock your phone when using controls in the power menu (to control smart devices/lights/etc). I vaguely remember him listing a series of steps where he makes a routine or scene or some such "macro" and then adds it to the power menu controls area. Can anyone find the post or give me more info on the workaround?

    sorry my English is bad

    so my little brother cant stop playing on his phone...like all the time

    i know he has to play of course...i play a lot of games me too..but it's just way to much for him

    so i want an app or a solution so i can stop him from downloading whenever i want...and let him download when i see its right

    I cant take his phone because he needs it for studying online...(because of covid)

    he knows how to download from playstore

    I recently got the Moto razr 5G and I can't use nova launcher with the gesture navigation. So I'm trying to use the stock launcher. But I have a lot of apps I want to add on the home screen. what's the fastest way to add multiple apps on the home screen or make a shortcut to a list of apps?

    USB stick not detected

    I bought a male microUSB to a female USB converter and tried using it to connect a USB stick to my phone. Issue is I got no prompt or anything, the USB stick just did not get recognized and plugging it in does literally nothing. Any ideas? I'm running 8.1.0 (I think it's Go).

    Messenger not sending messages after unlocking phone (WiFi only)

    Hi everyone!

    I've had this annoying problem for a while now, and Googling doesn't help so I decided to ask here. Basically, if I'm on WiFi, after unlocking my phone, sending messages on Facebook Messenger doesn't work. It just shows an empty grey circle if I try to send one. After some 10, 15 minutes, the circle fills in and the message gets delivered. Alternatively, if I switch to data, the message gets sent immediately. If I was already on data before unlocking my phone there are no problems whatsoever, sending messages works as soon as I unlock my phone. So the issue is only with Messenger on WiFi, both Signal and Whatsapp work fine, as well as loading webpages, playing songs on Spotify, YouTube videos etc.

    I have an Exynos Galaxy S7, running stock Oreo. No one in my house who uses the same WiFi network has this issue, although they use different phones (an iPhone 8 and a Galaxy A20). I tried disabling battery optimization for Messenger, factory resetting, reinstalling Messenger, nothing seems to work.

    Anybody have an idea what might cause the issue?

    LG GVista 2 will not boot into recovery mode and factory reset will not work.

    I found my old Android phone the other day and tried to power it on but it failed multiple times and I let it keep doing that while I did other things. I came back to it on a screen that asked for a password and said I had 30 tries to get it right. I looked it up and it looks like you are supposed to enter the last password that you had on the phone but I cannot remember it. I decided that I should just factory reset the phone and I was able to get it to that screen and start the factory reset but after it completed it took me back to the same password screen. I tried to boot into the data recovery mode but am unable to however the download mode works. I am not sure what I should do next maybe I used the wrong key combination to get into recovery mode? The one that worked to get into factory reset was holding the power + volume down button until the LG logo appeared and letting go of power briefly and pressing it again. I have tried every guide I could find on the internet but none have worked so far. Is there any other way to get into my phone?

    Google play service consumes a lot of battery

    My phone off the charger for 2 days and i just checked the battery and see google play service in number 1 with 10% batt3ry usage. I have auto sync turn off and location on 24/7 with gps only. Only google app allow to use location all the time while everything else is only allow while the app is use ot deny. How to fix? Google pixel 4a 5g.

    No more drop-down preview texts

    I have a S9 SM-G960U, Hardware REV 1.1, Android version 10, Kernel 4.9.186, and Knox version 3.4.1 on Verizon. I turned off message notifications briefly when showing someone a picture so that personal texts didn't display. I went back in turned them on but now it's not displaying them properly.

    Before, it would do a drop-down preview of the message regardless of the app I was in. Now it's only displaying the Message notification in the notification bar, and after some messing around with settings, I can get the contact photo to display as a small badge but that's not what I want. What do I need to fix?

    Backup, update and restore advice

    I've never restored my android phone before but in July my phone began to fail to update to the latest software - not sure why?

    i have just completed a 'backup' to my Samsung account/cloud although messages and Samsung daily failed (possibly messages did backup but couldn't also backup any attachments as it states these won't be backed up but there is no way of telling if the actual messages backed up because of this ambiguity - does anyone know how to interpret this?)

    I have moved apps and games to my sd card as android is constantly clogging up the system memory(!). it has happened so much that, using appmgr III to move the apps, I enabled developers menu and allowed all software to be movable (or whatever the specific function is entitled). when I went back to appmgr III there was another 503 items I could move. so I did. after this my phone remained in a constant boot loop. i didn't have time to fix it so let the battery run down. i turned it on today and it actually boots up properly. although if I mess much on it it seems to go to the boot loop again and I have to restart it again to get it working. i recall the phone restarting occasionally over the last few months, not very often and successfully booting back up properly - not sure what caused it but wasn't much of a problem.

    my question is what should I do to fix all this? (when i try to move some apps back to system memory it goes to boot loop.

    if the solution is to factory reset and restore then what happens to the software moved to the sd card? does android recognise this and carries on normally or does it try to reinstall all apps back to system memory (which there are too many to fit just on the system memory)? as I say over never done the store or reset stuff before so could do with some step by step help please....

    Some pictures don't show anywhere on my phone

    I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S9+, but I've had this problem for as long as I can remember on various Android phones. I've found some information online but nothing useful, and I'd love to finally get to the bottom of it.

    Sometimes, when I download images on my phone, usually from Google Images from the Google app, they don't show anywhere. I can't search for them with My Files or any other file explorer, they don't show in Gallery or Google Photos, and they don't show in any apps when selecting an image or video to send. It's like they don't exist.

    This doesn't happen with every downloaded image, only about 50% of them. I can, however, share images directly by clicking on the notification when the download has finished, but this is just annoying if you want to send it to multiple places.

    Is there any decent way to fix this?

    Android 11 Issue

    Samsung Galaxy S20+

    When using streaming apps like YouTube, YouTube TV, Twitch, etc. the pip mini player disappears under the screen. Audio continues to play. The screen will reappear if the keyboard is brought up but trying to pull it back to the top of the screen causes it to disappear altogether. When this all happens the screen flickers very bad and I am unable to do anything until I restart my phone. Occasionally the stream will stop on its own while in pip and I have to open it back up to restart it. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Aux cable in car killing internal mic

    I have a Redmi note 9pro and whenever I connect the Aux cable in my car stereo I can hear the sound perfectly through the speakers but when I try to make a call the other person cannot hear me, as if the phone expects the Aux cable to have a mic.

    I've searched around various forums and can't seem to find an updated answer.

    Does anyone have any thoughts on how to solve this without buying anything new?

    How can I get the position of an object in a recyclerview?

    I'm done, I can't go past here after several hours of research. There's no way I can update my pos variable in my onCreateViewHolder function. How can I get my recyclerViewModel's current position so I can start my intents from the onCreateViewHolder? I've looked for every possible solution in stackoverflow and I can't make it work. I know that it must be the simplest solution ever, but I'm already burnt out. Please, if someone can tell me a way to do this, I'd appreciate it a lot.

    Here's my Adapter's code. (I know that pos won't update, because I haven't written anything to make it work yet.)

    How to find the installation folder or package folder of an app?

    Hello guys, noob here.

    So basically I'm using an app in which I can download videos for watching in offline mode. How can I get those downloaded contents?

    (I'm assuming that those videos are saved somewhere in my phone's storage but I can't find the "Installation folder" or "Package folder (for example com.myapp)" of that app within the "Android/data" folder.

    It would be of great help if someone can provide a solution to this. Thanks in advance.

    How can I recover my samsung pass data and fix samsung cloud?

    I originally had an issue with my edge panel. Support said to do a factory reset. My notes wouldn't sync, so then I was told to clear my cloud data to fix it. That took away the app icon and completely broke the cloud so now I can't open it. To fix that I was told to reset settings in general management. Support said it wouldn't get rid of data, but now all of my Samsung pass data is gone. How can I fix the cloud and get the passwords back?

    Is there a way to change which storage the apps gets installed in?

    Hello to anyone reading this post! I just got a SD card for my Samsung Galaxy S7 and I'm wondering if there is a way for me to change where the apps gets installed. Because I'm basically out of space for my phone storage since Dragon ball dokkan battle and girl's frontline both takes up a decent amount of space and they get regularly updated so over time they would require more space. The next game I wanna install is mortal kombat but that's also another game that takes a decent amount of space and I wanna install it on the SD card. But I don't know how to switch the installation storage preference from the phone storage to the SD card. Is there a way to switch where new apps gets installed in? If so how do I do it?

    ZTE blade vantage 2 activation screen lock

    So, I have a Verizon ZTE blade vantage 2. I've gone through an hour of messaging with Verizon support, and they have no helpful leads to help me since I intend to use it as a Wifi-only device. The first screen claims my device can't be activated, and I need to either call a hotline (Didn't do anything other than tell me what I know.) Or go to a Verizon store to get some help. The second screen tells me it's not activated, and tells me what I can't do call and text wise not activated, tells me that I can call 911, or power it off. I bought it from a local retailer in the middle of bum-F*** Ohio. Does anyone have any bypass tricks?

    So when I try to download anything, it starts downloading like usual until it gets to the "installing..." screen. It stays like that for about 5 minutes before returning to the big green install button like nothing happened

    Android 9 Call Volume Way Too Loud

    So I have an LG Q7+ running Android 9 and it seems that when I'm calling, whether it be discord or zoom or whatever, there's a hard limit to how quiet the volume setting can go. Its too loud for listening up at your ear but too quiet to hear when on your desk, and then when you switch to speakerphone its just too loud for anyone except your neighbor standing across the street. Is there a way to "break" this hard limit or at least lower it? Because as it stands I can't use my phone as....well, a phone without breaking my eardrums
