An Android App Doesn't Work on My Tablet. Will Installing its APK Solve My Problem? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:21 AM PST Hi everyone. There is an Android App that I really need to use. Even though my tablet meets all the requirements of that app, for some reason it says "Your Device is not compatible with this version". If I find the APK files of this app and manually install it, do you think this will solve the problem? If not, is there any way to solve such a problem? Many thanks in advance! (Note: My tablet is Android 8.1.0, the app needs only Android 5.0+) [link] [comments] |
Maybe an Android question. Google search thinks cell data is suspicious. What's wrong? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:15 PM PST I have a Oneplus 6t with Android Pie. My problem is simple but strange. Whenever I am on cell data only, and try to conduct a Google search, everytime it gives me the "we have detected suspcious activity at this address." Does anybody know what might be causing this? All I have to do is be back on wifi for the message to disappear. I can go directly to a URL and use other search engines. its just google. I am logged into my google account on my phone. My carrier is Cricket, I'm in the US, and I have an unlimited data plan. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Dec 2020 09:21 AM PST I want to know whether USB cables have current limits and how I can know this before buying a cable. I have searched and done my research but to no avail. I understand clearly the differences between USB 2 and USB 3, including USB-C which is only a form factor, and not a description for the data transfer speed. There are some vague descriptions about voltage and amperage, but I simply don't know yet how to know if a USB can go to 100 W, or what is its amperage or wattage limit. Does the connection matter? Is USB 2 more limited current wise than future generations? Is the generation even relevant? I want to buy cables confident they will fast charge a phone, or even charge a laptop. So far the best advice i have found online is, "buy a good quality cable if you want to fast charge" what does that even mean? Newer gen? Advertised material? Or outright pay more and risk it? This may not be the best subreddit, but I really didn't know where else. [link] [comments] |
Android phones with no camera and running only one app for a mental health facility? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:43 PM PST I am doing a study in a mental health facility where we are giving smartphones to patients so that they can use a mood-logging app but not use anything else on the phone.

What accent color are you using on your phone? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 01:22 PM PST I recently updated to android 11 and kind of getting bored of the default blue. I have previously used a red-ish color. What are you using and what's your favorite? [link] [comments] |
Forgot Old Phone's screen lock but it's logged into one my Google account. Posted: 03 Dec 2020 10:13 AM PST I should have backed up those pictures when I could. I went to look for an old picture from my old phone and I was stumped at the screen lock preventing me from accessing all old memories. The phone is a redmi note 3, and it's accessing the Internet. The forgot password doesn't take it to the google account options like some solutions say it will. It asks to reset and I don't want to reset the phone. I looked at the notification tray and it gave a google drive notification for my work mail. Is there a way I can do anything to reset the screen lock? Please help. [link] [comments] |
Pixel 5 battery percentage issue Posted: 03 Dec 2020 03:21 PM PST I've had an issue where when I charge my pixel 5 on the pixel stand the battery percentage stays at 100% indefinitely until I restart the phone. Also, accubattery shows that it's battery capacity is 4500 mAh out of 4000 mAh. Is this an actual charging issue that could cause damage or is it just an annoying bug? [link] [comments] |
App isn't compatible with device - clearing play store data didn't work Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:35 PM PST I'm trying to update an app (the awesome music-maker Incredibox), but the play store says "This app isn't compatible with your device anymore" and won't allow me to update. After searching online I found a lot of solutions about clearing cache and data of the Play Store, but that didn't work. The developers emailed me this video as a possible fix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo74AEnlmXQ but it didn't work either. Is there a reason why this wouldn't work? I haven't tried deleting the original app first, I wasn't sure if that would make it work, and didn't want to risk permanently losing the app (even if it is outdated) [link] [comments] |

Music player that integrates with Google maps and doesn't cost a monthly fee? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 01:54 PM PST I'm trying to replace Google play music since Google killed it, and I'm looking for a music player app that
Use case: I like to ask Google to start playing a song or artist while I'm already driving and using Google maps. I don't want to have to touch my phone to do so, because that's about to become a primary offense in my state. It doesn't have to be a streaming app, I have plenty of mp3 files I can just leave on my phone. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Dec 2020 09:45 AM PST I have an issue with my s20 fe it not charge fast even if it says it is fast charging when plug the cable but it needs 3 hours to fully charge the battery. I use an app to check the current and I found out its charge at 1000mA not 2700mA what it's supposed to be and I even check the cable by using it on another phone and it's working at 2700mA I any advice? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 01:03 PM PST Galaxy S8, Android 9 I have some really strange behavior that started a few days ago with my wired headphones w/ remote. I am able to replicate the issues with two different headphones, so I'm pretty sure it's something with the phone. Restarting the phone didn't help.
Any ideas or other troubleshooting I should do? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Is Android 9 (Pie) still "supported", and what does this mean in practice? Posted: 03 Dec 2020 12:13 PM PST I have Android 9 (pie) running on an LG G6 (2017). The battery is still reasonable and it suits my day to day needs, but I'm starting to worry about Security as the device hasn't had any updates from LG in a while. I have read in various articles that Android 9 is still "supported", but what does this mean in practice when the last patch was in 2019? Should I play it safe and buy a new phone I don't otherwise need, or is a combination of Google Play & Android's innate security and third-party antimalware enough to see me through (ideally I'd like to buy a new phone in 2021, when I can go on holiday and thus use the camera)? Thanks and stay safe! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Dec 2020 11:35 AM PST (Samsung S10, Hades ROM, Android 10 rooted with magisk) I have a very weird problem that happened suddenly, and that persisted even after I wiped and reinstalled the ROM. Let's say I use YouTube and whatsapp the most, I open YouTube and I find it's not loading so I confirm on the browser. I then delete the APN and then reset APN. YouTube would work immediately. But then whatsapp would break and I do the same thing to get it to work! The whole internet is not affected, everything is accessible except for the 4 apps I use the most. I've been using this ROM for months to a year, this problem happened suddenly this week, I don't remember doing anything that could affect this. How do I fix this annoying problem?! Thank you all. Would restoring a stock ROM get rid of OS errors that keep popping up? Posted: 02 Dec 2020 08:12 PM PST I apologize if this isn't the right place, but I wanted to get my first phone back in working condition. I know it isn't a great phone, it's quite low-end, but I loved it when I had it. I quit using it when I would get pop-ups saying stuff like "com.system.android has stopped working" or "Google Play Store has quit working" and you'd hit Ok or Cancel and it would pop up again just a second later. And if it ever went away, it came back up after you tried to launch an app. In short, it's unusable. The phone was a ZTE Z740, and I found this forum talking about a custom and stock ROM for it. Luckily, the download links are still up 6 years later. Would restoring the stock ROM restore the phone to a usable condition? [link] [comments] |
Adoptable Storage on Android 8.0 Posted: 03 Dec 2020 01:28 AM PST |
Samsung Galaxy A01, Samsung Notes, Other Bugs Posted: 02 Dec 2020 11:01 PM PST Today I got fed up with 14gb of my storage being taken up by "other", with only around 7-8 of it being System Apps, so I tried my damnedest to find a way to back up my samsung notes to ensure I would not lose them. I backed them up in multiple different ways just in case, and then I factory reset my phone. After booting it back up and entering my accounts, letting it set and download my apps, backup, alarms, etc. I couldn't find the Samsung Notes App, and finding it in the Google Play Store brings up "Your device isn't compatible with this version." So, I factory reset once more (the app did come installed on the phone when I got it), and it is still not there, and I'm still receiving the same message. I tried downloading an APK from uptodown, trying to sideload an older version into my phone, to be continuously met with "App not installed." I've tried APK installers, disabling google play store protection, restarting the phone multiple dozen times, and I'm at my wits end. I'm at my wits end and at this point it's a pride thing, I want my notes back, as they should have never been snatched from me in such a way. I have them backed up to another phone, and I really do not feel like manually typing them, and cannot find a way to bring them up as plaintext documents on my computer. Any help would be very appreciated, thank you in advance. EDIT: Now Samsung SmartSwitch appear to have the same issue...Assuming it's a bug from some recent update, assuming there will be no workaround until google fixes it on the playstore, or something along those lines. Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:41 AM PST Hey, since I use android I don't receive any push notifications for emails. I use the Gmail app for my Gmail address and I only see new emails when I open the app. The Gmail support already told me that the app does not support push. I can't imagine any reason why this would be the case. Does anybody have push notifications for his Gmail emails? I'm using huawei p30 pro. Thank you in advance [link] [comments] |
