Amazon Prime TV not in the playstore

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 08:31 AM PST

I have a TCL TV with Android Built in and I've been having issues with Amazon quite often (lots of stuttering and such). Then I said well let's see if there is an update and realized it isn't in the store anymore. Anyone know what's going on with this?

Install Android TV Launcher on Chromecast TV using method linked in description?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 08:18 AM PST

Could we do the reverse of the instructions in the link to install and use android tv launcher on the Chromecast tv rather than the google home launcher?

These instructions show how to use the google home launcher from the Chromecast tv on a android tv device.

Chromecast w/ Google TV won't power off TCL Android TV

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 11:46 PM PST

I just recently purchased a TCL with Android TV. I set up my Chromecast and CEC works fine as long as powering on and switching input to the chromecast. But when I power off using the Chromecast remote, the TV doesn't turn off. I've dug through all the settings on both devices and can't figure it out.

It worked fine on a TCL TV with Roku.

Any ideas on how to get it to work?

Issue with Puffin TV app, can't play HD videos via Twitch

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 06:09 PM PST

I just got a Chromecast with Google TV and am having issues getting a web browser to stream video at 1080p. The site I am trying to watch is www.giantbomb.com/infinite, which is embedding Twitch. The default automatic quality is 360p, and when I change it to anything else in the settings such as 1080p60 it just doesn't change the video stream to high resolution.

Puffin is the only browser I found for Android TV that can actually run this site in a desktop mode, and aside from this video quality quirk it's exactly what I needed. Anyone know if there is a workaround for this?

    Need a low priced TV Box/Stick. ¿Suggestions?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 02:13 PM PST

Hi. So, today I got a mail from HBO saying that the HBO app would no longer work in a PS3, wich I still used as my main media player. My Panasonic TV does support Netflix, but not HBO or Amazon.

I've looking at the Xiaomi stuff, the Mi TV Stick is cheap but I've read that is quite slow because of a low RAM. The Mi Box look good but apparently there's some issues with Amazon Prime? It also has a USB port wich the Stick doesn't, and that could come handy for some local media playing.

I'd mainly use it for streaming (does Kodi work well in these?), but I'd love to be able to play some retro emulators too. How's the gamepad compatibily in both those models? I've a wired cheap gamepad, an Xbox 360 wired pad and a PS3 bluetooth gamepad. Would any of these work?

What should I get? Should I look into other brands, like Fire TV or the new Chromecast? I'm from Spain, so some stuff like Roku may not be in here, and the Nvidia Shield is way off budget for me. Also, my TV is 1080p, so 4K compatibily is not a necessity.

    Thanks.

Help with Ambilight and Android TV with no PC

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 08:41 PM PST

I purchased the DIY Dream Color Ambilight kit from MegaHotDeal. It's the same kit that can be found at dozens of other drop-shipping sites around the internet. This is my first Reddit post, but if I figure out how, I'll post a screenshot of what I bought.

Anyway... It is my understanding that while these lights used to only work with Windows, MacOS, Linux and Raspberry Pi, they are now supposed to work with any Android TV or Android Box.

I have a brand new 2020 Sony Bravia 900X and I can't figure out what I need to do to make the lights work. I know I need some kind of software to read the screen and configure the horizontal and vertical LED count, but where do I get that? And do I download the software/app to a phone or directly to the TV?

I'm kinda lost and any help on getting this to work would really be appreciated.

Sony Smart TV - CBS All Access keeps disappearing

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 03:24 PM PST

So, my family recently bought a Sony Smart TV and have been getting used to it. We have installed CBS All Access but when we return the tv off, it will disappear from the displayed apps. It's still labeled as installed in the settings menu, but we can't access it like other apps such as Netflix or Hulu. CBS seems to be the only app that does this. Does anyone know why it keeps doing this?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 12:13 PM PST

I've had my Chromecast working fine with a usb hub for a couple weeks now. LAN connected, usb stick recognised, everything was fine. Yesterday it just stopped recognizing it at all. It still turns on but no additional storage is found and it's only connecting to wifi. Anyone have any suggestions?

Issues with Chromecast with Google TV freezing on certain apps?

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 10:08 AM PST

I just bought a Chromecast with Google TV, and thus far have been pleased. The interface is pretty good and is much more seamless than having to cast everything from a phone/iPad.

That being said, I've been having some specific issues with video freezing on certain apps:

    - On the CNN app, the video will freeze right as it is about to go to commercial

    - On the Hulu app, the video will freeze right before the next episode of a show is about to play, but only for some shows (I've made sure that "autoplay" is activated).

Has anyone else experienced these issues, and if so, is there a workaround?

    Next device

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 11:41 AM PST

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a decent android TV box? Im currently running an old FireTV stick but it's slowly losing any functionality and it's increasingly frustrating, I only use that on my bedroom TV and have an Android TV/Sky downstairs.

I'm Hoping there may be an Android TV box out there that runs Sky Go as I'd like to be able to catch up on some documentaries which are available on Sky Go, they don't have an actual TV app, as obviously they'd charge extra for that, but I'm hoping the android phone app could be used maybe?

Any help and recommendations would be appreciated.

AndroidTV media player app that marks files ive watched as completed

    Posted: 10 Nov 2020 09:50 AM PST

Hello. I acquired an older NAS from a friend and wanted to set it up as a media server. I explored installing Plex on it but unfortunately the NAS is too old and slow to run it (ReadyNAS NV+ V1). the smart tv isnt much better, it is a discount hisense i got last black friday.

VLC player runs the media files fine enough. I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a lightweight media player that will mark files as completed so i can keep track of what ive watched.

i know i can install plex on a local machine but ideally i want to be able to play media on my nas without needing another pc to be on

preferably it would support file types like mkv, avi, and mpeg
