Posted: 20 Nov 2020 07:13 AM PST I've had this phone for nearly 7 years. It works fine 90% of the time. I've attached five images to show what I can see from my end My phone crashed when I turned on the WIFI. It was backing up WhatsApp messages before it crashed and the battery died. I restarted it and plugged it in, but when it did it was stuck at the Samsung logo for five minutes before it turned on and settled on the first image, (image 1) Now all I see when I use my phone is a black screen but the notification bar, and drop down menu are still visible. (images 1 and 2) Clicking on the menu in the middle turns on the voice command. I can launch the file manager app and see my files but I can't access or launch them. Anything that requires an app to open does not work. When I click "back" to close voice command, the Homescreen flashes for a millisecond where I can see the apps on it including all the ones that have notifications, then it returns to black. I can't access settings or any app that requires using the operating system. When I manage to launch the file manager through voice command, I keep getting pop errors like "Touchwiz crashed" Clicking on "report" sends me back to a black screen. I also get multiple pop ups one after the other over the file manager window telling me the names of different apps that crashed. I can receive WhatsApp and Instagram calls and they work fine. However, I can launch those apps or send messages through them. I get notifications for messages, emails etc. In image 5 the settings menu can be seen, but if I remove the notification requiring me to update Quickconnect the screen returns to black. I literally see black screen the whole time unless I use the voice command.to launch or search for files. The phone also magically unlocked itself so I don't need to unlock to access it but it acts like it's locked when I connect it to a computer in order to back up the files. I restarted it multiple times. Each time it freezes on the Samsung logo for five minutes before ending up on a black screen. I didn't face any issues the night before it crashed. I tried deleting the most recent apps via file manager but I don't think the issue is with the apps since nothing much has changed. Any help or insight will be truly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Where does Android store passwords Posted: 20 Nov 2020 09:30 AM PST There are certain apps and services that I have never accessed from a browser (Venmo, IG, my bank). Those passwords aren't saved in Chrome. Yet my phone "knows" my passwords for these apps. Are they saved by the App or the OS? And can they be accessed? [link] [comments] |
Phone keeps freezing when I answer a call Posted: 20 Nov 2020 03:56 AM PST Hi guys. I have an original first gen Google Pixel that over the last 2-3 days has started to intermittently freeze up completely when I answer an incoming call, and what's more is that when this happens, I can't hear the other person on the call nor can they hear me. It seems turning it off and on and taking the SIM card our and putting it back in helps intermittently but the same just happens again shortly after. I'm running Android 10 and I am not aware of any programs that I recently updated that could be causing this. Any help or suggestions would be wildly appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Nov 2020 01:01 PM PST Am I blind or is that option just not available on this camera app? Is there a free alternative camera app I can install? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Nov 2020 08:54 AM PST Well I will upgrade my S8+ this February and I wanted to ask you guys what should I pick, the S20,+ or ultra, or the Note 20, ultra or should I just wait until the S21 launch? [link] [comments] |
Is the Android 11 update Safe? Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:59 AM PST I've heard the latest iPhone update has some stuff in it that makes it even further invasive to ones privacy. I am curious if this update is like that. Does anyone know? I've gone searching through articles and the notes and don't quite understand what I'm looking at. Should I allow the update to happen. Let me know what you all think please. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Huawei PSmart 2020 Screen Record Gone Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:56 AM PST Yesterday it worked with the Home/Volume key. Now it only works for Screenshots. There's no icon in the notification menu. I've checked App Gallery and no Screen Recording app is there. Restarted my phone and its not there. There's been no update since yesterday and today yet now I can't screen record. Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:52 AM PST I was looking at this tutorial, as well as this one. I know the phone has only been out a day (in the US at least), but I figured I'd post here and see if responses start rolling in as folks purchase it. I just want to get a sense of whether these existing tutorials for the regular 4a will still apply well to the 4a with 5G. If not, I may hold off on purchasing the phone until some new tutorials come out. Additionally, the first tutorial refers to NOT using TWRP. Does anyone know if I can load TWRP on a Pixel 4a? Just cuz I really like it as a recovery. [link] [comments] |
Weird movable "icon" (?) middle of screen, but can move it around freely. Restarting doesn't help. Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:35 AM PST It almost look like the camera focus thing when you tap your screen. Anyone know how to solve this? https://imgur.com/CGPt2eR [link] [comments] |
Downloads not saving to the right place Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:33 AM PST I'm on a Galaxy S8. Recently, my downloaded images are no longer appearing in my gallery. I have to go to the internal storage to find them. Same thing for the samsung music player. Oddly enough, anything I download on twitter/reddit goes straight to my gallery. I thought this was a browser problem so I tried edge instead of google, but no luck. [link] [comments] |
Galaxy A5 2017 audio settings bug Posted: 20 Nov 2020 07:44 AM PST The Audio Balance, Mono and Stereo Invert settings have no effect. I have tested it on several Galaxy A5 2017 and all of them have the problem (with different 3 and 4pin headphones / jacks) also sometimes the audio sides swap so left is right and right is left, although stereo reverse is deactivated. The problem occurred as far as I can remember from Android 6 to 7 or from 7 to 8 to please Samsung Fixes that, the bug has not been fixed for ages.By the way: headphones are of course plugged in I mean So that it is not grayed out, I have it as a bug report sent and ask me will this be taken care of? can I hope for a bug fix? maybe someone here in the forum knows the solution to the problem? Way to set mono mixed audio to only left or right speaker on bluetooth/aux? (Galaxy S/Note 8) Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:27 AM PST I have a weird question. I have a galaxy note 8 on the latest update. I have some weird hearing issues that I deal with and one of the things is that sometimes I like to walk but only listen to audio coming out of one side of my headphones. I do not like IEM's/earbuds. I have tried and even got some true wireless anker life dot 2 buds to fit under my hearing protection earmuffs but it is just irritating. I have some bluetooth protection headphones. I like these because they block out a decent amount of noise (I had a scare 4th of july 2019 with my right ear regarding fireworks and now I've been vary vary cautious almost to the point of phobia with hearing/hearing loss.) I like that the anker's offer mono mode with just using one earbud. However there's a problem. I can't do this with any headphones regardless of bluetooth or aux-in. I would like to set the mono option on my phone and then set the balance to either the left or right ear so that I can listen to the complete music on just one side whilst leaving the other side free. I usually pop in a silicone or foam earbud in the ear that I don't want to use.) Problem is that since 98% of music is in stereo I'm missing out on some details this way. With the earbuds it's fine because they have a mono mode that mixes all the audio to the earbud I'm using. Like I stated though I completely hate using the earbuds and would rather use the headphones. Right now I'm limited to podcasts or talking youtube videos with this method since most of those are just speech and leaving it in stereo but setting the balance all the way left or right doesn't affect the content much but just talking is boring and sometimes I want music but with all the details.) TL:DR is there a way to downmix the audio to mono and then set it to be only in the left or right headphone via either bluetooth or aux? [link] [comments] |
Upgrade to 64 bit? - Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown, Android 9 Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:06 AM PST I had an app game recently upgrade to 64-bit only, and my phone is 32-bit. Is there a way to upgrade my phone to a 64-bit device? Trying to decide how 'worth-it' it would be to either upgrade my phone or just deal with not being able to play one of my favorite games anymore... *sigh* [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Nov 2020 11:03 AM PST Whenever i open a webpage in google app and download something, it gives a download notification and says it is paused. The icon keeps looping. I can't seem to understand why this happens. It doesn't stop by cutting off net. It only stops when i restart the phone. Anybody else had this problem? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Nov 2020 06:50 AM PST I'm having an issue with my group messaging where when I'm part of a group text, the individuals replies come through but also look as if they're downloading in their individual text thread. I have a Note 20 Plus for the record. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Question about Google calendar Schedule view Posted: 20 Nov 2020 06:45 AM PST When viewing the current week, I want Google calendar to display all days, even if they are empty. Example: Monday Event 1 Event 2 Tuesday Event 1 Wednesday (Blank) Thursday Event 2 Currently, it hides blank days like Wednesday. This makes it harder to see blank spaces in my week at a glance. Expanded Notification Bubbles? Posted: 20 Nov 2020 06:39 AM PST Hello all. iphone refugee here. One thing I can't figure out - notifications of text messages on Messages and WhatsApp only show a line or less of the message. On iphone it'll show a big paragraph of text in the notification so you can read the whole thing without clicking the phone. Is there any way for android to show notifications in a bigger window that allows me to see more of the text? [link] [comments] |

Messages take forever to come up on device Posted: 20 Nov 2020 10:10 AM PST I have a Huawei Mate SE and when someone texts me, it takes around 5 - 15 mins for the message to show up on my end. This has only occurred recently and I switched my SMS app to Textra to see if that would solve the issue and it did not. [link] [comments] |
11/20 Patch Bluetooth Permission Popups? Posted: 20 Nov 2020 09:56 AM PST So after I updated to the latest security patch I now get asked (with a little pop-up) if I want to connect to a Bluetooth device I already have paired. Here is the specific situation: I am using an Android Galaxy S10 lite. When I use the Pokemon Go app and try to connect with my Go+ (the Bluetooth device already paired to my phone) I get a little pop-up asking me if I want to connect to the Bluetooth device. This is super annoying as Pokemon Go requires the Go+ device to be reconnected about once an hour, and has a short window to connect with it. Is there a way to turn this pop-up off? It didn't exist before the update. [link] [comments] |
Recycling Galaxy Note 7 as a server? Posted: 19 Nov 2020 07:08 PM PST I have a non-bricked Verizon Galaxy Note 7 (SM-N930V) that I'd like to use as a personal server at home. I have a fireproof table I can mount it on, so no worries there. Ideally I would like to run some flavor of ARM Linux (one of my primary development targets) but if there was some other command-line friendly option I'd be interested in that too. I mostly target Ubuntu but I could make do with Alpine Linux. I mostly want to run Python 3 server apps of my own devising and F# 5.0 server apps (.NET core 5). Being rooted would be useful but I'm not sure it's necessary. I do *not* want to compile standard Android apps, I do enough of that at work. It's such a great piece of hardware (other than the grenade bit) and I'd hate to just toss it out before I really got to use it... Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
What could go wrong when installing TWRP? Posted: 20 Nov 2020 09:33 AM PST It seems pretty easy so before doing it I just wanted to ask what the worst thing is that can happen is. Can I brick my whole device or can I fix it by flashing the stock recovery if it shouldn't work for some reason. [link] [comments] |
How do I make alarms ring for a long time? Posted: 20 Nov 2020 09:25 AM PST Samsung galaxy s20 ultra I know other peoples phones when their alarms go off it will go on and on all break (like at work and im in the break room and they're working) for the whole 15-30 minute break I have. But the alarms on my phones stop ringing after a few minutes. I normally don't have issues getting up in the morning to my alarms; but sometimes I will sleep through them in a blue moon ya know? I have an alarm set for every 5 minutes starting an hour before I'd be "late" to work just in case I sleep through an alarm or two out of anxiety. It's annoying. How can I just set one alarm that doesn't shut off until I turn it off? The anxiety started after I slept through my finals in college one day AND i was late to my fathers funeral because i hadn't been sleeping that week from stress of finals and his passing. My alarm rang for a few minutes and stopped. I use the normal clock app that comes installed on the device [link] [comments] |
How do I ensure my phone prefers Wi-Fi to cellular data ? Posted: 20 Nov 2020 08:38 AM PST I just got a new phone, Samsung Galaxy A01, Android 10. How do I set it so that it uses Wi-fi (when connected) as opposed to cellular data ? And, when wi-fi is not in range and disconnected, I don't want it needlessly updating apps. How do I set that? Posted: 20 Nov 2020 08:24 AM PST I notice that when I have updates, I go to do updates, and my screen will turn off. After some time, I come back to check on the status, and maybe only one or two apps were updated. For example, today, I had 35 updates. I run Update All, and I come back an hour later, and only one or two are done, and I need to click on Update All again. Is there any way to fix this? [link] [comments] |
