How to force one keyboard for all keyboards? Galaxy s8

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 12:10 PM PST

Im wondering how do I use one default keyboard for all entries of a keyboard. For instance how do I remove the special keyboard for typing urls, why does it switch keyboards to the annoying squished board with the .com button. Extremely annoying to type on.

Is it possible to sandbox an app or fool it into thinking it has been granted permissions?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 11:01 AM PST

To adjust any settings for the Galaxy Buds Plus you have to use the Galaxy Wearable app. This app is unusable unless you give it an absurd amount of permissions, none of which are necessary for adjusting basic settings.

Is there any way to fool it into thinking it has been given access to, for example, my contacts, without giving it my contacts? (Also wondering about the other permissions but contacts is the main one.)

Have Google assistant only come out of phone speakers when connected to a Bluetooth device

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 10:52 AM PST

I'm not sure if this is the right sub to be asking, but this is the problem I'm having. When I get into my car, my phone connects to Bluetooth automatically for media playback. Then, if I want I can make commands to my assistant. The only problem is that if if have the radio on or whole audio player off, then I can't hear the assistant's responses. I can only hear them if I have the audio player on to play music via Bluetooth. In contrast, when I am using the Waze app for GPS it gives commands through my phone speaker- which is ideal because then I won't miss a turn or anything if I have my audio player off or the radio on. I've looked in my car's settings and there are no settings adjustable for this, and I can't figure it out in the settings for Bluetooth or Google Assistant on my phone. I want to make it so Google assistant only responds through my phone speaker and not the Bluetooth device connected.

    Any ideas?

Android Messages spam protection - notifications? really?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 08:32 AM PST

My Pixel 3a does a great job marking and filtering messages as spam on the stock Messages app (all up-to-date). Unfortunately...I get a notification every time a spam message comes in that looks identical to as if I had just received the text itself. Is this seriously what Google thinks is a good idea? I can't see any way to disable spam notifications, but this is so basic I feel like I must be missing something. Their blocked spam calls don't behave the same way (as in, they do what a user would want and are completely invisible).

How to see the full headline from Google app notifications?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 01:10 PM PST

News notifications from the Google app (or launcher, I'm actually not sure the source) have way too much image. Even when expanded I can't see the full headline. Not been able to find any options that would allow you to see the full headline. Anyone know if it's possible.

Whats happening with my Google account and realme x50?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 11:44 AM PST

Hi all. I dont know if this is the correct place for the question.

I bought a realme x50 pro this black friday, and when i enter my Google account, in the Dashboard appears a phone and i dont know what phone is. Sometimes is a Xiaomi redmi 6, other a MiX, or another Xiaomi. Is always the same phone, but his name after 30 minutes, when i check the Dashboard again, it changed. This phone NO appears in the "security" inside Google account settings. Is only in Dashboard and when i use the app inside the Dashboard to check the location. There, the app cant found It, but is there with a White screen not a phone image. But my realme appears there too.

I tried to join my Google account in the PC of my house, and the same thing happen. In security everything is normal, i recognise my phones. But in Dashboard, that Xiaomi redmi 6 / Mi 5 / mi pad 4 /Mi X is there, without screen of the phone, in White, with a name or another.

Ah, and of course I changed my password to a unique one (three times).

The first connection of that phone is october 2016, i think is the same day when i buy a phone back in the day...

...And the last connection, is always when i check the Dashboard. If i enter the Dashboard at 20:31pm, the last connection Will be 20:31, right in these moment.

A technician from a store say to me, is a synchcronization problem, not a hacker (i was scared) but when i enter my account and dashboard from a different phone, the same thing happen. A random Xiaomi last connection in the same moment. I was a Xiaomi user a time ago, i dont know if there is a relation with that.

Sorry if i have bad writing, im not native english. But im having a very bad time this days with that. Please, help...

How Long can I expect to use a android device?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 11:40 AM PST

I Know that I can't expect OS and security updates for longer than 3 years. What I want to know is how many years most apps will still be able to run on a phone I buy today with android 11.

More specifically, can android versions that are 6 years old (Lollipop) still run most apps?

Pixel 3 backup not recognized during 4A5G setup

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 11:34 AM PST

Rooted Pixel 4a that's randomly shutting down multiple times per day - what logs can I access?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 11:27 AM PST

For the past couple weeks my phone has randomly been shutting off. I've uninstalled the only new apps I have in that period, installed the latest monthly update, and have witnessed the issue in safe mode as well.

Odds are I'm looking at a factory reset or a hardware issue, but before I go down that route I'm curious if there is any way to access logs to see what was going on during the time of shut down? I know there are apps to view logcat, but that doesn't seem to be historical, only live. I could attempt to have it plugged in all day and watch stuff via adb, I suppose, but that's fairly inconvenient.

    Fingerprint scanner issues

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 11:13 AM PST

I have a galaxy s8+ that is now several years old. One of the features I like is the fingerprint lock which I use for certain apps and to unlock my phone. Lately I'm having scanning issues where I've had to attempt several times to scan my print to get it to work or had too many attempts and had to use other methods to gain access. Is there a solution to this? Or should I start budgeting for a new phone?

I have a Visible R2. The phone runs fine but it has issues distributing memory so background apps won't stay open. Any fixes?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 11:02 AM PST

As soon as I switch to another app and switch back, it reopens the app because the phone does not allow it to stay open.

Is there anything you can do about this or do I just need to get a better phone?

Is it worth having a case for an S20 FE?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 02:13 AM PST

Just got an S20 FE 5G to replace my old S7.

One of the things that appealed to me about it is the plastic body. The glass body on my current phone is cracked to pieces & held together with gaffer tape & it's in a case and hardly ever dropped. I'll be glad not to have to worry about it any more.

But so long as there's a screen protector, is there any reason for me to have a case at all? They add needless bulk to the phone. Is the plastic robust enough to avoid anything other than scuff marks when it does get dropped?

    No mic incoming call only?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 10:52 AM PST

    Hi all,

I've got no mic on incoming calls only. If someone calls me, they get no audio at all. I can hear them but they can't hear me. When I return the call, no issues at all, audio quality is good both ways.

I've tried turning Bluetooth off to see if there is interference from other devices, I.e. smart watch / car, but still same issue.

    Can anyone suggest a solution?

Samsung S9 Fully updated Smart watch is connected which alerts to incoming call. xiomi(?)'s latest watch. No mic on the watch though. Only "mainstream" apps downloaded, nothing dodgy from play store.

    Thanks!

I recently factory reset my phone, and now I can't make calls. Everytime I try to make a call, it hangs up immediately.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 03:19 AM PST

Title is self explanatory. Recently I soft factory reset my phone from the settings menu and now for some reason I can't make a call. I can receive calls just fine, just can't make them myself.

I should also mention that the original sim card for this phone was a Verizon sim card, now it's a Metro PCS sim card. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not but it's worth mentioning just in case. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Shared/synced folders on Android phone and Windows 10 PC synced over Wi-Fi (NOT over the internet)?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 10:45 PM PST

I often use my phone internet (via tethering/hotspot) on my PC. I would like to have a set of folders automatically synced between the phone (Android 10) and the Windows 10 PC without using an internet-based service like Dropbox and the like. The folders would ideally automatically sync when the two devices share a common connection.

How do I go about doing this?

How to disable Backup/Restore of NikGapps?

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 10:37 AM PST

I have Corvus OS and NikGapps-stock installed.

Now, I wish to remove NikGapps-stock and install NikGapps-core.

I factory reset my data and flashed Corvus OS again (I had other issues with my phone, hence I reflashed OS).

But when I am flashing my rom, NikGapps performs Backup and Restore of all the previously installed apps.

    How do I disable this?

System UI vs enemy of the state

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 09:42 AM PST

Hi, im using a samsung A51. I came across an app that doesnt show up in my settings called "system UI. When i looked at the permissions, the app has access to camera, location, mic, everything. When i tried to deny permissions for camera location phone calls etc.. i am not permitted to click deny. E.g locaton is permanent toggled to "allow all the time" and under the "deny" button it says, "device needs this permission to operate.. Is this app a normal feature of the phone. Is there a way to "deny" all the permissions. Thank you android gurus

    Need help with my Android.

    Posted: 30 Nov 2020 09:21 AM PST

I have a Moto G9 Play, with ARCore support, but it doesn't have the Depth API. From my understanding, Google's depth tech doesn't need special hardware unlike Apple's LIDAR, and I already have a depth sensor anyway (like the Moto One Fusion, except it has Depth API support).

So is there a way to "install" the API to enable depth support? I'm sorry if that made no sense, I don't really know how an "API" works here.

If not, then is it possible that it'll be enabled via a later update, as OnePlus did for Nord?
