I would like to share my Kotlin Coroutines playground Posted: 28 Nov 2020 06:22 AM PST Hello everybody! Occasionally, our Android team has Tech Fridays, during which we present some new things we did recently try or worked on. Usually I am presenting things related to coroutines and my sample repository already have grown with useful examples. I would like to share my Coroutine Recipe repository with you guys too. Maybe you will find it useful as it covers everything starting from the basics up to some more advanced stuff. I have also implemented some side-by-side comparisons with RxJava, Channels vs Flows, LiveData vs StateFlow etc. It's nothing superb sophisticated, but I did choose maybe most useful use cases which we also use in our company. You can find the repo here: https://github.com/edgar-zigis/CoroutineRecipes Project can be run out of the box on IntelliJ. Cheers! [link] [comments]

How to measure and show startup time in React Native in VSCODE? Posted: 28 Nov 2020 05:11 AM PST I was trying to do this for hours, so please don't send me anymore links. I am very tilted from this. I tried from the link below and some other sites. None of them worked for me. Especially this seems reliable but this doesn't work. How do you do this? I just started in empty project, but still doesn't work. I just need just simple thing nothing complicated. [link] [comments]
Need translation for your app? I really wanna do some Posted: 27 Nov 2020 05:39 PM PST Hi, im a teen from Argentina, with a little bit too much free time, and i've always wanted to exploit my english knowledge to the maximum. If i like the app and it's not a massive load of work i might cvonsider doing it completely free (But i still want to be visible as a translator in the app description, just to feel like im part of something xd) So there you have it, do with that info as you please. Have a nice day mate ;) [link] [comments]

WorkManager & Notifications problems Posted: 28 Nov 2020 02:53 AM PST Hello everyone, let's get right to the point. How is GMAIL always syncing correctly the notification? I see sometimes on my notification tray "Gmail is syncing" even if I have not opened the app for days. I am trying to imitate that on a medical application on which I need to remind the user to take his pill for example. I am using a periodic worker (WorkManager) to fetch the doses every 12 hours and then schedule the notifications locally with an OneTimeWorkRequest on which I add an InitialDelay in order to show display the notification at the appropriate time. But when the user hasn't launched the app for some days, this periodic worker does not work and there are no notifications. Some users have 1 task per week for example. Is there any way to make this more reliable because it's a medical app?? Thanks a lot! [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Nov 2020 03:21 PM PST Im looking at buying a new laptop, but I've heard that Android Studio is a beast and requires a lot of resources and everyone seems to vary in how powerful you need a comp to be to run it. The specs of the computer Im looking at are:
Is this good enough? If not, what should I be looking for? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Nov 2020 10:10 PM PST I've updated my app with an actions.xml file, and the play console took it (normally it doesn't accept the aab file if it detects it), but google assistant doesn't seem to recognize the custom queries i gave it. Using custom intents as well. Has anyone done anything similar? [link] [comments]

Can i install lineageos 18 on my poco x3 nfc? Posted: 28 Nov 2020 02:35 AM PST I came across lineageos 18 in xda but it says "firmware required 12.0.3" but my phone is on miui global 12.0.4 Can i install it? [link] [comments]
What is the reason for new updated google play console? Posted: 27 Nov 2020 07:44 PM PST New google play console is not very friendly. Sometimes KPIs are taking too long to load or not showing at all. The pre-launch report no longer works for new uploaded apks. Was there something wrong with previous console that they decided to switch to this new less functional version. [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Nov 2020 03:59 PM PST My sister's phone get stolen recently and we didn't have had any backup of data. That brought me an idea... Is there some app/system that would sync/copy/backup all files on the phone on either daily, weekly or monthly basis? For example, if I setup my phone for the first time, it would do a full sync of everything (or at least what I choose to be synced) initially, and then next time when it does sync, it would sync only new/changed stuff. Ideally, I'd choose a location where to upload files (either local PC, server, AWS, Google Bucket or similar). Thanks for all the suggestions! [link] [comments]
Base Class - Best Practice Question Posted: 27 Nov 2020 12:37 PM PST I've got a situation where I have a class initiated within an activity. That class has a base class, which in turn has a method that makes a web-request, with the response returned within a callback. What is the 'best practice' way of doing this? [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Nov 2020 08:50 AM PST Been racking my brain about this for a while now. I'm trying to implement this quick screen before the user sees before the app fully starts, showing the logo and name of the app, but I have no idea A) What it's called, or B) Where I go to learn to build one. Does anyone here know what I'm talking about? It's that thing you see when you open Snapchat or just about any app before you can play with the rest of the functionality. Thanks in advance.
