My charging cable burned inside my charging port last night Posted: 11 Oct 2020 11:32 AM PDT I have a Google Pixel 3a Last night I was charging my phone on my Anker battery pack (I paid like 50 dollars for it) and I had my phone hooked up to it by this 10 dollar chord I got from 7/11. All of a sudden I there's this burning smell and it takes a minute for me to realize it's coming from my phone. Here's a picture of the end of the chord: http://imgur.com/a/SALwL6Z I'm wondering what exactly was at fault here? Was it my phone (unlikely), the cable, or the battery pack? The battery pack looks okay but I'm wondering if it was sending the wrong voltage or something, or if the cable was messing it up somehow. I would hate to have to throw away something I spent 50 bucks on. My phone wouldn't charge anymore at first, but it seems to be kindove okay for now after I've let it sit and tried cleaning it out a bit. [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to get newer android on old tablet? Posted: 11 Oct 2020 03:14 AM PDT I'm searching custom Rom for an old generic android tablet. Stuck on 4.4.2 and it has an A33 quadcore. I've searched a bit but can't seem to find it anywhere. This would be first time installing a custom Rom for me. I don't need android 10 but 7 or 8 would be nice. [link] [comments] |
Is this normal when using Wireless Charging? Posted: 11 Oct 2020 10:50 AM PDT Hey. I just recently purchased a Samsung s20FE. And I am using a pixel stand to wireless charge it at night, since my previous phone was a pixel. It is a 10watt charger I believe. I noticed this on my charging graph in battery settings. The phone will charge all the way to 100 percent. Then stop and start probably 50 times during the night. All the little blue slivers are it charging, or topping off. Is this normal? Or maybe something weird because the pixel stand? Does your graph look about the same when you do a wireless charge. Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot. https://i.imgur.com/PUy4GVf.jpg [link] [comments] |

How's T-mobile for software updates (compared to other carriers)? Posted: 11 Oct 2020 12:40 PM PDT Thinking of switching, currently on Verizon. I feel like Verizon is one of the slowest to release software updates, but can't seem to find any charts showing manufacturer to carrier update release delays. Any insight? [link] [comments] |
Looking for advice selling my (probably) locked phone Posted: 11 Oct 2020 12:38 PM PDT Looking at selling my old Galaxy s7. Wondering if anyone has had any luck with any particular websites? I don't mind losing a few bucks resale for the convenience. I'm fairly certain it's still locked to Rogers as I bought it before it became illegal to do so. Anyone's experiences online would be greatly appreciated, thanks. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Oct 2020 08:16 AM PDT Ok so I'm trying to record PPSSPP emulation on my huawei nova 7i/P40 lite, while playing dragon ball shin budokai 2. The main problem is that I was able to stretch the emulator to window, but litterally every screen recorder I've used(no ads screen recorder, AZ screen Recorder, mobizen etc) has no such resolution, which makes the screen look like it has a 4:3 aspect ratio rather than a 16:9. Could somebody halepo me to find a screen recorder that can adapt to this resolution? [link] [comments] |
What are the best methods to manage storage on Android 10? Posted: 11 Oct 2020 11:55 AM PDT I like to keep my phone slim when it comes to storage. I have everything important in the cloud, so the only things taking up local storage are apps. I know about clearing the cache/data and uninstalling apps, but it's hard to do much else compared to Windows 10 where you can go in depth. Windows 10 has WinDirStat which gives a tree map of your storage and gives a visual of where the most storage is being taken up. Does Android have something like WinDirStat? When apps get updated, do the updates "stack" on top of one another and take up more and more storage exponentially? Or do the old versions get deleted so that overall the same storage is taken up when updating apps? What about updates to Android and my phone's UI? I have OneUI from Samsung and those updates take up a couple GB. I'd appreciate advice for managing storage besides the basics of clearing apps. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Oct 2020 11:38 AM PDT Hello there! I got a new phone today (Sony Xperia L1 G311) and wanted to get my old files into the new one. So I copied everything onto my SD card and inserted it into the phone. After a couple of seconds, I got a notification that the card is damaged and I need to repair it. Then I took it out and saved everything on it to my PC, which could open it normally. I then plugged it into the phone, waited for the notif to appear, and tried to get the phone to format it. When it got to 20% the formating screen closed and the phone showed a pop-up saying something along the lines of "Failed to delete sd card" (rough translation). Does anyone have any idea how to fix it? Edit: I did also try to format it to NTFS and FAT32 but neither helped. [link] [comments] |
I'm ALWAYS dangerously low on storage space. Help? Posted: 11 Oct 2020 11:17 AM PDT I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 V with Verizon as my carrier (if that is important), and my problem is that regardless of how many photos, videos, apps, or documents I get rid of it always gives me a notification saying that I'm dangerously low on storage space (I have factory 16GBs and it always says 15.5GBs or more are being used). I've honestly deleted 200 or so photos, 12 videos, all but 7 out of 30+ songs, 3 big apps I don't use anymore, and have backed up well over 3GB to Google Drive of previously mentioned stuff, but the message persists. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated since it limits the functionality of many features like photo editing which I use often. Edit: I forgot to add that this started last week out of nowhere and the only things I've downloaded within the last month are photos from Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter. [link] [comments] |
Android forks that are supported on my phone? Posted: 11 Oct 2020 11:05 AM PDT My phone is an LG stylo 4 running android 8.1 and I don't really like the version of android that's preinstalled. Are there any android roms/forks that support this phone, even if it's an older version of the rom. [link] [comments] |

how to use broken smartphone that doesnt react to touch anymore? Posted: 11 Oct 2020 10:35 AM PDT yeah, this actually happened like 3 years when I dropped my old phone and it Jiayu JY-S3 and it fell on the bottom right corner. like I am stuck at the pin enter screen and cant do anything cause no tapping is registered. yeah, still have tht phone lying around, collecting dust, so i thought maybe i could put a bunch of money making apps on it or such. but for that, the problem with the not working touchscreen is still there. stuff is displayed without any errors, yout just touch part in touchscreen doesnt work anymore. any smart ideas how I can manage to do stuff again? no worry, dont intend to use it as a normal phone again, just need to be able to make some taps and stuff and the phone will then lie on the table attached to the charger for the rest of it's life, runnning that app which gives me 50 cents a month or so :-) yeah, how to make taps or clciks when touchscreen is no good anymore? :-/ [link] [comments] |
Prevent installing apps but not updates Posted: 11 Oct 2020 09:53 AM PDT Is it possible to completely disable the Play Store from installing updates but keeping updates enabled? I have a list of apps I'd like to continue using, but don't want to install any others (if I absolutely need one, I'll just get the .apk). Thanks for your help! [link] [comments] |

New Google Photos app: extra steps to save changes Posted: 11 Oct 2020 08:35 AM PDT Using the new Photos app, it takes two additional steps to save changes. First it asks if you want to save or save a copy. Then it asks for permission to modify. How do I make this stop? Is this a new "feature" of Photos or a problem with my setup? Running Galaxy S20+ with new One UI 3.0 Beta. No SD card. Thanks, and please see pictures in links. [link] [comments] |
Old lg k8 getting corruption error even when doing a hard reset. Posted: 11 Oct 2020 06:27 AM PDT Hi, Sorry if this is the wrong place but I've got an old lg k8 that's been sat in a draw for about a year, supposedly dead, but today I tried turning it on and it worked! But it gave a corruption error that as far as I can tell is down to an is corruption. I've tried a hard reset and going into download mode but both of these ends in the same corruption error message. Disable wi-fi when not connected Posted: 11 Oct 2020 01:26 AM PDT I want when I leave my home and my phone won't be connected to wifi to disable the option to save battery. Remembering to turn it off manually every time I leave my home is impossible for me. Also I don't want the solutions to involuve using gps because then instead of the wi-fi using battery the gps will. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Oct 2020 02:48 AM PDT My device works fine, but is it a problem to not receive updates anymore? Edit - I have a Moto G6. I last received official updates in April but phone is not supported anymore. So far I haven't been tech savvy enough to change anything out of the ordinary in my phone. I am also a big time privacy freak. [link] [comments] |
