    Chat Bubbles suggestion.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 06:05 AM PDT

I like the chat bubbles, but hate how annoying it is to look at most of the day when I don't have any new messages. I wish they would hide them almost completely except when you have new messages. I dragged it to the side and took a screenshot to create an example here

This could allow you to tap and still access the bubble if needed, but will help prevent you from having to fling the bubble from one side to the other while navigating other apps.

Google Podcasts search feature makes it my favorite podcast app

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 10:54 PM PDT

I have only really used Pocket Casts and Google Podcasts (and some Spotify for podcasts) so this is probably not a complete opinion for all the options. I'm not even going to pretend that I use all of the features offered offered by Pocket Casts. But the feature which is super powerful and makes Google Podcasts the best app, in my opinion, is the search.

As an example, I'm into this band that is pretty small called Rx Bandits. They haven't been active in quite a few years. I searched for the guitarist, Steve Choi, and it gave a bunch of podcast episodes from this year he featured as a guest. I would have never found these otherwise.

Another example - my partner and I are considering starting a business. We searched for the business topic, and it gave us a very specific episode of a very niche podcast that was super relevant.

Then, on top of that, the app does a great job of recommending shows and episodes that don't feel like surface level suggestions (into humor? Here's Joe Rogan podcast), but actually feel like a deeper understanding of the topics I'm into.

It has increased my listening since I'm not necessarily just waiting for my subscriptions to push a new episode. I just type in something I want to know more about and find all of the options.

Anyway, the two main points. Great job Google. The app and recommendations are excellent. And second, if you haven't given this app a go yet definitely do.
