Bit of a pain to direct install large APK files to external HDD of my the Phillips Android TV Posted: 19 Sep 2020 02:55 AM PDT For whatever reason I can't seem to find a way for large uncompressed game like KOTOR to install directly to my external HDD. Yes, I know it won't fit in the internal space of my TV! I hope to sort that. Yet the TV is expecting me to migrate everything over that is already installed instead of setting the installation path to the HDD. That doesn't really seem to be an option, and I see nothing in the manuel that allows this to be done. Anyone has any luck with this? Or is it a limitation with the Android TV firmware? It's quite frustrating. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Sep 2020 08:01 AM PDT Hi all. Would appreciate some help on this. I'm looking for an Android box which runs the Android TV OS. I've found the Xiaomi Mi Box S and the Nvidia Shield on Google's official Android TV website. I find the Nvidia Shield to be quite expensive and Xiaomi's box is underpowered at just 2GB RAM and only 8GB of ROM. I have a bunch of cheap Chinese android boxes and I find the H96 Max+ to be quite good, but would just prefer to run the official OS rather than dodgy, unupgradeable MediaTek chips. Anybody know of devices other than the above and where I might get them? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
TCL Android TV (50" C715): USB only FAT32, can't watch 4K movies over 4 GB. Fix? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 06:42 AM PDT As in the title, is there a way to overcome the USB port's FAT32 4GB limit for movies? I can only watch 1080p movies from a thumb drive as it stands as any 4K .mkv file is just too large. Is there a way I can trick Android TV to accept ExfAT or NTFS ? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |

Posted: 19 Sep 2020 06:16 AM PDT I just got a 4K Apple TV and my current TV is old and doesn't support 4K. The H8G seems like it'll be perfect since it has 4K and Dolby Vision. I'm also planning on buying a 4k HDMI cable. I'm new to 4K TVs, so I had a couple questions before I buy anything. 1- Most importantly, Is the TV automatically 4K or do I have to make it 4K? Same question goes for the Dolby Vision. Do I have to go and switch the settings to 4K and Dolby Vision or is it like that out of the box? I'm so confused how that works. 2- Does anyone else use the HG8 with a 4K Apple TV? If so, how is it? Does 4K, Dolby Vision and Atoms work well? 3- Lastly, do you guys recommend the tv? I've seen a lot of comments of people struggling with finding the right picture settings to get the best picture and it looks like a lot of your remotes aren't responsive half the time. Please please help me. I'm so confused. [link] [comments] |

50H8F Hisense - Update Available Posted: 19 Sep 2020 05:08 AM PDT Every time the update pops up for my 50H8F it says it fails and to retry. Then it's just an endless loop of fail/retry. Does anyone have a fix? If I go to settings to Check for Update it tells me the system is up to date, even though it's an older version of what the pop up is telling me is available. It's currently on Android 8 and the pop up is saying Android 9. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Sep 2020 06:19 PM PDT My sound for TNT on my android TV won't work. Can't find a setting to change it, and it has been like this for weeks. I can log in on my phone just fine, but when I open the app on my TV, there is no sound at all. I am trying to watch the Lakers - Nuggets game for reference [link] [comments] |
Can't disable TCL android tv speakers Posted: 18 Sep 2020 06:09 PM PDT Hi guys, anyone knows how can I desactivate the tv speakers? I'm trying to use a home theater via optical audio, but the tv built in speakers keeps sounding. I can't get it to zero beacuse the home theater won't sound. [link] [comments] |
Anyone know why Android tv would Display Router login page after waking from screensaver? Posted: 18 Sep 2020 04:52 PM PDT When I wake my mibox, it briefly shows a webpage of my router login page. idk what app would be doing that and I've never directed it to the address for my router on any browser on the box. I can't tell if it logged in or what's going on besides that I recognize the page. It disappears in less than a second. Anyone see this before? -- update --- after uninstalling Puffin Browser the issue went away. I never logged into my router on puffin so I'm not sure why it was trying to reach that page (especially while sleeping). pretty weird. [link] [comments] |
will we see a shield TV price drop after Sabrina release? Posted: 18 Sep 2020 12:28 PM PDT I'd like to get a shield tv pro for gaming but am holding off to see if we might get a slight price reduction after this new googletv/chromecast upgrade comes out at the end of Sept. I understand they're different and aimed at different people but this cheaper device might steal some of Nvidia's customers Do you think Nvidia will have some sales before the end of the year? [Newbie here] suggestions for a good ATV + rom ? Posted: 18 Sep 2020 12:21 PM PDT Hi there, I'm looking for something to replace my rpi4+Kodi with an Android TV, to plug behind my videoprojector. I'll only use it as a client for Jellyfin, Plex, Youtube / Peertube and Spotify. I also discovered that there are some Android TV roms in the wild (Aidan's, atvX, project SLIM) but it seems that they support SoCs instead of boxes themselves. Looks like the S905X is one of the most broadly used in this market, or am I wrong ? I'd love a rom with very few gapps (just Youtube and Store) and close to pure android. I'm really confident with Android rooting/rom flashing, but I really don't know the ATV world. So… Could you guys help me with suggestions of boxes and roms ? Also, should I be warned against brands or models that can't be rooted/flashed ? Thanks a lot !! Let's hope this post will help other newbies like me. EDIT: I probably won't need Netflix/Amazon prime certifications, seems that's a criteria. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Sep 2020 09:49 AM PDT Hey friends. So finally I tried installing HALanucher and also ATVLancher. Both are working when I open it. I've no idea how to set any of that as my default launcher. YouTube videos said that MiBox will ask to choose a launcher when I press home button. But I tried every button to get that pop up. No way. MiBox is not asking which launcher to choose. [link] [comments] |
