| Posted: 19 Sep 2020 05:37 AM PDT So before when I opened links in i.e. reddit or facebook apps, the link opened in my default browser (Edge) and when I clicked top-right menu, there was an entry "Open in Edge". Since yesterday whenever I tap a link in an app, I'm presented a Google Chrome page asking me to accept the Terms and Conditions. I tried changing my default browser to Vivaldi but it's still the same. I don't want to use Chrome, I even have it deactivated in apps settings. Can I somehow switch back to the old behavior? Is this a bug or is it intentional from google forcing me to use Chrome? My phone is Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, Android 10 [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 19 Sep 2020 09:31 AM PDT I received the Android 11 OTA on my Pixel 3XL, and all is working well except the native screen recording function. When i try to run it, nothing on my screen shows except for my wallpaper. One person suggested a factory reset would fix this, although (like many others im sure) the process of getting everything on my phone back to the way it was would take a very long time. I was wondering if Sideloading the same OTA that I already have on my phone would potentially fix the issue? [link] [comments] |
| OK Google, why do you not work when Amazon Music is open?... Posted: 18 Sep 2020 10:51 PM PDT When driving I have three key apps: 1. Waze 2. Amazon Music 3. Dailyroads Voyager dashcam. Waze has the ability to use the "OK Google" commands to perform actions, which is great as I also use "OK Google" to write & send messages, make calls, open other apps, etc. All hands free. Where I have a problem is changing the music over to something else. I am able to say "OK Google launch Amazon Music" to open Amazon Music. I then say "Alexa play a different song", which she does. But at this point the "OK Google Launch Waze" command is completely ignored to take me back to Waze. Has anyone else had this issue before? Tia 🙂 [link] [comments] |

I never use the stupid app and it's frustrating to always have to remember to turn the display on before plugging in my headphones. Can I disable this "feature" or have it turn on spotify instead? | Posted: 19 Sep 2020 10:45 AM PDT Sometimes when I click on a link in Chrome that redirects to a different program (for example, when I click on a reddit link and reddit's app pops up) and then go back and try searching in the address bar, it opens the app again instead of searching. This usually is very inconvenient since I have to write my entire search query again. I've been having this bug for a long time (years) but I've never managed to describe it in a searchable manner. Its kind of finnicky and really the most delicate phone ive ever had because of the curved screen makes just about every screen protector and case ineffective. Sometimes (and ONLY sometimes), when someone sends a message in the group chat, it very briefly appears in my personal DM with that person, with the notification "New MMS Messages to Download." After a bit, the notification is deleted and the message appears in the group chat. Sometimes the notification disappears before I can turn on my phone. So now, a very common occurrence is when I hear my phone go off, pick up the phone, and I have no notifications. Someone just posted in the group chat—the group chat for which I want notifications off! Anybody got advice? Edit: Should have mentioned all of this, but I'm on an LG Stylo 5 with Sprint. | Nokia 6.1 - does it have battery problem? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 05:30 AM PDT I bought used Nokia 6.1 and I noticed that it drains more battery than my old Sony Z1. I turned off adaptive battery option, I read that can help. I tested it now in youtube: 1hour of youtube drained my battery from 62% to 51%. Brightness of screen is set to 50%, sound is set to around 60%. Is this results for youtube normal? Also I think that when I don't touch it, it drains some 7% for 14 hours. Normal? In Google messages it says, "The operator does not currently support this feature". I have watched a number of tutorials which suggest using launchers like Activity Launcher to open RCS settings. Problem is that I know the last 3 digits of his number. I've deleted the contact and I've blocked it but anytime I search those numbers in Facebook messenger or my contact list, the number shows. My willpower aside, I'd just really like the number to be unavailable to me but it seems there is no delete option. I've wiped call logs and media relating to the numbet but nothing gives. | Two questions around gmail account/data backup Posted: 19 Sep 2020 03:47 AM PDT 1) I had my Samsung handset stolen a couple of years back. When I bought a replacement Samsung handset and logged into the Gmail account associated with that lost phone, it of course pulled up all the data etc. However, at some point, it became a complete mess. I cannot recall when or how this happened given then that there are thousands of photos/videos on the phone. I have no idea to this day what's going on but if I look through some of my holiday/travel WhatsApp chats and go through the relevant photo gallery, I have some travel photos that are duplicated, other travel photos now appear completely missing. In fact, it feels to me like certain photos have literally vanished. There are photos that I deleted, that now surface?! When I go to my gallery and flick down to 6+ months ago, many of the videos now have this weird download logo in the middle and I cannot play many of them. I honestly have no idea what is going on. Even a recent holiday of 6 months prior, photos are suddenly missing. Has anyone experienced this kind of thing? How to resolve it? It's a total and utter mess. I haven't logged into my cloud for like a year but even the cloud is a weird website. I couldn't see how to organise my photos or download anything. I'm not sure what happened? 2) In line with question (1) above, I am thinking as an alternative to create a new Gmail account and start afresh so that I can actually keep on top of what is happening (and with a new phone). My question is, if I created a new Gmail with the same number, what would be affected? What actually happens to WhatsApp, on both my old and new phone? This seems like another potential mess.
