Is it okay here to ask Android programming help? Just joined this sub. Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:49 AM PDT If not, please direct me to a suitable subreddit or other sources. If yes then I am describing my question below. I am not real quick in Android development. I just bought an app template. It is a feed type app. But the problem is if I upload a high-resolution image, the feed really suck while scrolling. It lags too much. So I found the type of code from Stack Overflow that makes photo resolution low without decreasing much quality before uploading. But the problem is I don't know how to implement that in my Android code. Pardon for English. I am not a professional Android developer. Thanks [link] [comments] |
File completely invisible on file manager (even through hidden storage) Posted: 03 Sep 2020 11:00 AM PDT I downloaded an obb file and was unable to send it to the obb folder so I deleted the folder, made a new one with the same name and added the files to the new folder. When I moved the new file to the android folder, the files I had put into them disappeared, but I know they're there because they still take space on my phone. Does anyone know how I can find and delete those files? [link] [comments] |

"Apps request permission to access your account, now and in the future" notification Posted: 03 Sep 2020 10:49 AM PDT There is a silent notification from reddit requesting a permission to access my account. I want to know is this okay or my device/account is in danger? Thankyou [link] [comments] |
How can I transfer my entire phone into an Android Emulator or a Virtual Machine Posted: 03 Sep 2020 10:45 AM PDT How can I, if I can, transfer my phone's data (pictures, app data etc) into an emulator on my pc? I have a Samsung J7 btw. [link] [comments] |
Virus-like advertisment stuck on auto-correct screen. Posted: 03 Sep 2020 10:27 AM PDT Image included: https://imgur.com/a/r6jeMN8 The phone is HTC U12+ tried running anti-malware, also deleted all google cookies (or I think I did.) [link] [comments] |
My Samsung Galaxy Note5 has water damage from rain. Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:09 AM PDT It happened yesterday. It turns on and off, and it works fine as far as I can tell, but the screen is messed up, so that I can't actually sign in, each time I do, it's either unresponsive or puts in the wrong symbols. Because of this I only have 4 more tries before it factory resets. Is there any way to fix this, or should I just send it into the shop? And if so do they factory reset it? (It is dry as far as I can tell). [link] [comments] |
Do nearly 10 year old sim cards need to be updated? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 10:06 PM PDT Hi all, not really and Android specific question, but we are Android users. I've been searching all evening for a definite answer to this, but can't seem to find one. My wife and I both use unlocked phones, and as such haven't had a need to upgrade our sim cards in nearly 10 years. Though our phones are newer (Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy A20), we've never been able to use 4G despite living in an area that has it. It's never been an issue for us...at least it won't until 2021 when 3G is shut off. No matter how hard I try, I can't get either of our phones to connect to a 4G network. And I've tried numerous methods! Is this because we need to upgrade to newer sim cards that support it? If so, things should be straight forward for us...get new SIM cards! [link] [comments] |
Android Duplicate Personal Contact in MMS Posted: 03 Sep 2020 06:49 AM PDT Android MMS bug https://imgur.com/gallery/M6uSp7G I've been googling for the last half hour trying to find anyone who has seen this bug before. I'm in a group chat with some friends on a brand new Galaxy S20. Just ported my number from Ting to T-Mobile. I can't for the life of me figure out why my own messages are coming back to me as being sent by someone else. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Sep 2020 08:46 AM PDT My phone is showing internal storage is 99% full, with most acquired by pictures. Previously it showed I had approx 11gb of thumbdata which I deleted via file explorer. It wasn't getting deleted, so tried few methods and created a new file in its name too. Now the original thumbdata files aren't visible anywhere but storage is still full. So I can't even find them to do something about it but it's still there consuming my phone space. What can I do? Unsupported app on galaxy store, build.prop can trick it? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:59 AM PDT Sometimes, even though an app will work on a device it is listed as unsupported for various reasons, i bought a very modern Samsung galaxy tab a 10.1 with s pen, and would love to install Clip Studio from the galaxy store, However it is unsupported. How can i trick the galaxy store into thinking its supported? Ive tried changing the build.prop file to make android think i was on android 10 and 9, tried changing the model of the device to a model i know works. Does the galaxy store look for other things in the build.prop file? I would appreciate the support, as it seems to be the best app for my drawing hobby. I am rooted (obviously ;) ) Thanks the world over <3 [link] [comments] |
Music automatically plays when connected to Bluetooth speaker/headset. Posted: 03 Sep 2020 08:23 AM PDT Is there a way to disable this? I could be in a phone call, but if I plug in my Bluetooth earbuds (galaxy buds live in this case) or any wireless speaker, it will continue the call AND start playing music, even when spotify (my main music platform) is closed and is not running in the background. How do I disable this? It is beyond infuriating for me. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Facebook links won't show up in messages Posted: 03 Sep 2020 11:11 AM PDT When I send a text to a Samsung S10 or S20 with a Facebook link, the Facebook link never comes through or shows up. What is causing this behavior? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:16 AM PDT When exiting a certain website I hit the back button on my android phone to go back, this made Chrome automatically download a file, the file was completely blank and simply named "download" when looking at the details of the file it says that the file type is "unknown", and that it only takes up "2B" of space. I visited the same site on my pc, and hitting the go back button in Chrome also made my pc download the same file, when opening the file in notepad it simply just says "NO" and nothing else. I opened the file in a browser and it also just said in small text "NO" in the top right corner. I scanned the file with both malwarebytes and Microsoft defender, both programs scanned the file in an instant and said it found no threats. What is this file, and could my devices be in any danger? Thanks [link] [comments] |

Can my Samsung Galaxy J7 Crown connect to a tv? Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:52 AM PDT I'm using a Vizio tv but i have a samsung tv in the other room. Models with buttons on the back Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:51 AM PDT Are there any recent phone models with the wake/sleep button on the back? My LG Phoenix 2 that I've had for years has that design and I really like it. I'm making more money now, so I can afford to get a nicer phone, but I can't find any newer models with that feature. I also want a model that has built in wireless charging. Has anyone found a phone with both of those features? [link] [comments] |
Can't transfer media from Huawei y5 2017 mya-l22 to Windows 10 via USB Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:50 AM PDT Hello everyone! As mentioned in the title, I have a Huawei y5 2017, and it doesn't seem able to transfer media using USB at all. First of all I used different cables that work with other android devices. I updated all my drivers. I set USB Debugging option on. I chose "Media Transfer Protocol (MTP)" option in Select USB configuration. When I plug my device to the computer I don't get a notification which allows me to choose the MTP option. However there is a driver inside device manager which says "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) " It is found inside "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" tab. I tried updating that driver but it fails. I am running Windows 10 Home x64bit, OS Build 18362.1016 Any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Edit : Sorry I chose other as the flair cause I didn't know what flair should I use. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Sep 2020 08:23 AM PDT Also would love to know who the dev's are and what the license of the software is - they do not seem to have a website. I saw somewhere it mentioned Clockwork Recovery Mod but I thought that project had died / morphed into something else. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:53 AM PDT I'm wondering if there's any way for me to set a reoccuring calendar schedule for my work schedule. My new works schedule is going to be 5/5/4 (work 5 days, off 5 days, work 4 days, off 5 days, work 5 days, off 4 days, repeat). I realize this is a bit fucked of a schedule, so I doubt we can set it in the calendar, but I can hope. [link] [comments] |
How to prevent app from knowing that it has been minimized Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:30 AM PDT I have a app that can detect when you go away from it. Like when I press home button or move to another app or anything, it will give notification saying "App Minimized". Is there a way to fool the app in thinking it is running in foreground only even when I switch to other app or press home. I have root phone with MIUI 11, Android 9 VIOLET ROM. [link] [comments] |
