| Unlocked or Locked for wifi only? Posted: 13 Sep 2020 09:19 AM PDT Hi there all! I want to buy an android phone BUT I don't need a carrier and will only be using it for wifi calls/messaging. Should I buy an unlocked phone? Or can I get one locked to a carrier but just ignore it? Right now for example I'm looking at a Moto g power and it's much cheaper (via Target and Walmart) to get it linked to Consumer Cellular postpaid etc. Thanks for any advice! [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 13 Sep 2020 08:57 AM PDT Im using a couple of apps that let you add some shortcuts to them, for easy access (zone launcher and bottom quick settings) In ny home screen, for example, instead of the main Youtube page I have a shortcut (long press in the app) that redirects me to my subscription page instead (I dunno if its a vanilla feature or this is allowed by Sesame shortcuts) How can I access those shortcuts from anywhere else? Im trying to add those types of shortcuts to other apps but I cant find a way to achieve it. Anyone knows? [link] [comments] |

I open the standard cleaner for xiaomi, and go on the app, then I noticed this weird app called champions, it size is 11.82 megabytes, it has no image. | Privacy/Security implications from using an outdated phone? Posted: 13 Sep 2020 11:52 AM PDT I bought a Oneplus 5T at launch (November 2017) and will no longer be receiving any more updates. Android 10 was released (OxygenOS) but it is still somewhat buggy. I am using the 5T with an unlocked bootloader, and a custom Android 10 ROM with no root, and with MicroG. Any dangers with using this device without any software support? The 5T doesn't have a LOS 17.1 maintainer, so I have to rely on custom ROMs. My main reason for not wanting to upgrade to newer phone is mainly just because I don't see the need hardware-wise. The phone is still really fast, I have not had a slowdown. I was previously on the Oneplus One and that phone felt slow after 3 years, but the 5T still feels brand new. My battery life is still really good. I used Battery Charge Limit to limit chargin to 80% and as a result, my battery wear is only 10%. I feel that the 5T has at least 2 years left, and phones are still way too expensive today to just get rid of the 5T. [link] [comments] |

TL;DR: I don't know what to google, research and look for, with a presumably software issue with my touch screen. I'm having this particular special problem with my touch screen. The bottom right corner of the screen doesn't response well when I touch, sometimes it doesn't work, or I do have to press it stronger to make it work. Thing is, when I rotate the phone, the bottom right corner is still not working properly. I mean, the issue rotates too. So this makes me think about it being a software issue, instead of a hardware one. (And I haven't flashed anything, just vanilla lastest version of android for my phone. Also, I've read in a post/comment from 2015 in another site (search for "top left") that this happened also happened to someone else. If it matters, I have a Moto G5S Plus. Edit: A word. Also, I may add, my GF and me both have the same phone model, mine being an older one and her's the newer. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 13 Sep 2020 11:11 AM PDT I'm on Android 10 and the Twitter mobile site only installs when adding to home, I'd like just a short cut. I was able to get around this with instagram buy setting chrome to desktop then add to home screen, then turning desktop off. Can't do that with Twitter though. [link] [comments] |

| Wifi requires full signal to connect after update to 10 Posted: 13 Sep 2020 11:07 AM PDT I have an LG G8s thinq, a terrible phone anyway, since the latest update to android 10 my phone needs wifi signal full signal to connect to WiFi. If it doesnt have full singal it doesnt auto connect and even if I press connect it just cycles through 'connecting' then 'saved' and doesn't connect. I'm using it at home in places I used to be able to connect and now can't. Is there an issue with this update? I've reset the network settings and still have the same problem. Its almost like the phone is deciding the signal isn't optimum so it won't connect but I don't get cell signal at home so even if its a weak WiFi signal its better than nothing. | Best Tablet with Google Pixel Phones? Posted: 13 Sep 2020 07:20 AM PDT Since Google has stopped making tablet devices and never made it big on that department, what tablet works best with a Google Pixel phone? I know of the new Samsung Tab S7/S7+ but the app market for Android just isn't as big as Apple. For example, GoodNotes and Notability are only on the App Store. On the other hand, I don't own an Apple device so I'm not sure if buying an iPad Pro is the best option either. The syncing and compatibility might be pretty annoying. I'll mainly be using this device to take virtual notes and occasional media consumption. Any advice would be much appreciated 😄 [link] [comments] |

Now phone can't read any sd card. I did reset my phone many times before and this problem never occured. Posted: 13 Sep 2020 10:15 AM PDT I'm looking into purchasing a new phone, currently looking at 2017 xperia xz phones, everything satisfies me, i have android 9 on my current phone, and i find it quite decent, i don't feel like i need a os upgrade, but would it be a smart idea to buy a phone that only upgrades till android 9 if i plan to get atleast 2-3 years out of it? The Oppo seems better on paper specs-wise and is about $200USD cheaper. I hear, however, that their Color OS is not so great. Aside from that, are there any other issues? Overall I hear better things about the P30, but the price jump when looking at the specs compared to the Reno3 seems unwarranted. Posted: 13 Sep 2020 02:46 AM PDT I've been looking on the internet for a solution but they either don't work because I don't have the option to perform the required action or they just tell you how to prevent google photos from uploading screenshots and others automatically. Any ideas? I'm running Android 9. My pictures that I take with my Camera are uploaded just fine but my screenshots and pictures sent to my via whatsapp stay saved locally and I don't want to manually upload my screenshots each time I make one [link] [comments] |

But after the guy assembled it ,the battery was dead and i had to connect the charger to turn it on. I dont know what happened to that 40 percent. Now it only charges up to 88 percent max. | My phone keeps running out of storage and I don't know why Posted: 13 Sep 2020 08:12 AM PDT I have a Nokia 7.1 for about a year and I love it, I just have one big problem with it, it keeps running out of storage space for no apparent reason. Some time ago I noticed my storage space is running out so I decided to delete some photos and files, I deleted some and had enough space but not too long after my phone was notifying me I am running out of storage again. I haven't installed any new apps and I haven't taken that many new pics so it was really weird. After some frustration and no other solutions I decided to factory reset my phone and start a new. All was well and good for about 3 months and then I suddenly get another message saying I'm running out of storage. I've tried storing most of my photos and videos in my sd card but I still can't manage to make enough room, it is as if my phone is generating some secret files and is taking up storage space. Another weird thing is when I enter my phone's settings it says I have 40 GB of photos, and when I use google files (my phone is android 10 so that's it's file explorer) it tells me all of my photos only take up 6 GB. I haven't figured it out and I would really appreciate some advice so I won't have to reset my phone again.
