    Edge to edge apps!

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 07:36 PM PDT

Can we get a list going of what apps support going edge to edge, as in, the navigation bar and status bar are transparent for Android 10+ navigation UI? I could get it started

Reddit Google messages(in light mode) YouTube music Inware Keep notes Google calendar The default google clock app

I would love to see more apps support this seeing as it's been over a year since Android 10 has been released with the new gesture navigation UI. Particularly bigger name apps such as

Facebook Instagram Snapchat Twitter Spotify Uber Uber eats Lyft Messenger by Facebook Starbucks Chase Netflix Robinhood Waze

    Let's Talk Battery Longevity

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 07:18 PM PDT

I have the feeling that the rates at which batteries of Android phones degrade vary a lot. I had a OnePlus 6 that has been aging very slowly and the battery still lasted very long after 2 years even. It would be interesting to know, which companies use quality batteries in their smartphones. I have heard that Samsungs batteries degrade quite fast, is that true? Would appreciate some experience.

Would you pay for extended software updates?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 08:23 AM PDT

I was going through my iTunes account and found an invoice for $9.95 for the 2.0 update on my iPod Touch. I had completely forgotten about paid updates for iPods. Research shows that Apple had to charge for updates on iPods because of an accounting rule requiring software upgrades to be paid for unless they were for devices whose revenue was recognized on a subscription basis (obviously, this has changed). Because of this, iPod Touch users were extremely reluctant to update.

Fast forward to today where SaaS is huge and subscriptions for software are very common. Would you be willing to pay a subscription/one-time fee to get extended software updates for your devices? How much are software updates worth to you as a consumer?

I think I figured out how to invite new people to Google Chat.

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 08:36 AM PDT

    Hey Everyone,

Referencing this post from few days ago.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/i6hfus/google_chat_available_for_hangouts_users/

I noticed that we weren't able to invite people to Google chat or start a new conversation. We were only seeing select few conversations on Google Chat.

Here's what I did to get my contacts moved over to Google Chat.

    1. Open Hangouts on your phone
    2. Tap on the conversation you want to move over to Google Chat.
    3. Tap on the text entry area so GBoard pops up (I've only tested this with Gboard)
    4. Head over to the GIF section of Gboard and send any GIF to this contact and wait for the GIF to finish sending.
    5. Head over to Google Chat and BOOM you'll see a new conversation has started with said contact.

I noticed that this doesn't quite sync conversation history but that is still available on Gmail should you need it.

I've tried this over 3 times and it has worked each time without any issues.

Let me know how it works for you!
