Lost access to settings during a Pixel 3XL Android 10 uograde Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:53 AM PDT I was running Android 10 June patch level and I upgraded to the August patch level using the factory Ron from Google but without the -w on the flash. I had a problem and had to reapply the ROM. The second time it worked. My settings had all gone but my apps were there. I am no longer able to access all the settings via a gesture at the top of the screen and just see 6 icons. I can find more by going to the settings app which is still there. Anyone have an idea what is corrupted and can I delete something to reinitialise it? I managed to get root back. [link] [comments]
How do you space out an app's notifications? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:21 AM PDT Hi there, Does anyone know how to tell an app to send notifications at least 10 minutes apart? Let me give you some context: You all know how most people send messages in Whatsapp: one sentence at a time. So when someone texts me the following: -"Hi" My phone will ring 6 times. I'd like my phone to ring only once. Then if 10 minutes go by and that person texts me again after those 10 minutes, then I'd like my phone to ring again. In other words I want my phone to ring once per 10 minutes for any given person texting me. It gets really annoying when you're trying to focus and the phone keeps on buzzing. Any ideas how to do that? [link] [comments]

Good Resources For Custom ROM Porting? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 02:08 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm wondering if there's any good resources for a complete beginner to learn how to port ROMs to any device. Something up to date and comprehensive, but preferably not overwhelming. Cheers. [link] [comments]
Stop auto scroll in memories. Google photos app. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:43 AM PDT Is there a way to stop the auto scrolling of photos when it is shows memories? This is an absolutely horrible feature. If you tap the picture which intuitively seems like it would pause, it goes to next picture. If you hit the X at the top it just closes out. I don't see a way to even go to that specific picture within the photos app. The new Google photos app really sucks. [link] [comments]
How or where to download firmware for Galaxy Tab S3 without speed limit? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:36 AM PDT I found two websites where I can get the firmware but both of them have ridiculously restricted download speed to 15 kbps for free users. Is there any free alternative? [link] [comments]
Can't find deleted images in recovery apps Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:13 PM PDT Hi all. I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this. I accidentally deleted some important images and permanently erased them from Google Photos. I downloaded many recovery apps for I couldn't find any of the deleted images or any video that was also in the trash that got deleted with them. My Google photos wasn't connected to my drive and didn't have any back up. Is there any way I can still get them? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Smartwatch with better wireless charging? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 08:59 AM PDT Hi all, been looking around and getting super frustrated. I've had a Fossil Smartwatch for more than a few years now (Men's Explorist), and this is the 3rd time I've had to replace/repair it due to the inductive coil falling off the back from normal usage. I'm very burnt out with proprietary chargers that break all the time; is there a non-Apple option out there that uses standard Qi charging? Open to anything at this point. [link] [comments]
Can't start playback on external devices Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:18 AM PDT I'm using a pixel 3a connected to ford sync via Bluetooth. There is a setting in Google play music to "Allow external devices to start playback" but either it doesn't work or I don't understand how it is supposed to. I can browse the music on the phone using the car media/satnav screen (and it shows various source options, including play music) but when I press play it just blanks out and won't play anything, the song I chose doesn't show as selected on the screen either. I have to browse the phone itself manually and start a song playing and only then can I control it with the car. This was also the case with my previous car (also ford sync) and my previous 2 phones (Nokia and Samsung). [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 08:16 AM PDT I still use a Sony XZ1 Compact as my daily phone, but I'm looking for a new stable, consistently updated ROM to switch to as Sony stopped releasing security updates in September 2019. I use LineageOS on my tablet, but there isn't an official Lineage build for this phone. It looks like there is an official Pixel Experience build for it, but I know nothing about the Pixel Experience ROM. Anyone tried it and like/dislike it? Any idea how it compares to stock or lineage as far as features and stability? Is it in a good place to be used as a daily driver or mostly for testing? I don't have much experience with custom ROMs aside from Cynogen and Lineage, so I'm really looking for something with the same level of polish/support if possible. Thanks! [link] [comments]
How can I mirror my android screen if I can't see it? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:47 AM PDT My screen is broken, and all of the options I'm seeing require me to download an app. A couple require "debugging"... I've previously turned on developer mode, but I'm not sure if debugging is on or not. I can't see my screen because it's broken. I can still touch it. Is there anything that can just show my screen where I only do something on PC? Thank you! [link] [comments]

Please help! Mysterious app called 10266. Am I hacked? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:29 AM PDT I cannot find it anywhere even in system apps. I have been careful with all apps. I only download FOSS or from Aurora Store (only reputable apps). Rom is Graphene OS and phone is Pixel 3a XL. Thank for your time! https://i.imgur.com/WSHcsJS.png [link] [comments]
Weather related shortcuts not linking to Google Weather App (Frog) anymore Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:20 AM PDT Hiho, all of a sudden all weather related shortcuts, e.g. in your feed at the top, the permanent weather notification or even the dedicated shortcut on your homescreen from the app itself is not linking to the dedicated weather app anymore (the one with the cute frog) but instead to the Google app conducting a search for "weather" and showing me the crappiest excuse for a weather forecast app I have every experienced. Why is that and how do I revert this? [link] [comments]

How can I stop the navigation bar from hiding in fullscreen, e.g. in Youtube? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 08:49 AM PDT Can't seem to find a relevant setting and apps to do with 'immersive mode' don't appear to help. [link] [comments]
Epic Games app installed without permission? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:34 PM PDT I live in India and today I noticed Epic Games App installed on my father's Galaxy M31 and my Oneplus 6. There wasn't any app icon on homescreen but in the settings' app list it was there. On my OP6, it first uninstalled only for 'current user', I had to select uninstall for all user from 3 dots on top-right corner. Has this happened to someone else? [link] [comments]
Broken Android Transferring to iPhone Posted: 05 Aug 2020 04:08 AM PDT Hi all, In a weird situation at the moment. I had an android phone (moto e5 play). I broke the screen so for my next phone decided to switch to iPhone 7 (sorry all, but good bang for buck IMO). I want to keep a couple of things: - Photos These are already saved into my Google photos so not concerned. -WhatsApp chat history I haven't used my broken phone for a few weeks so want to: receive the messages that will have accumulated during my absence but I also want to keep my old messages (go back a few years, quite a lot of history). Can anyone the best way to go about this please? I can see a lot of advice online for similar situations but my situation is different as the Android phone is now broken. Many thanks all [link] [comments]
Android Pie shuts down apps when screen is off. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 07:43 AM PDT TL;DR android 9 shuts off apps I want open when screen is off. Hello. I had Android for years then tried an iPhone X. Now I am back. I decided to get the unihertz titan. I like physical keyboards. Anyway, pretty easy to jump back into android except every time I turn off the display apps I want open (like adguard) automatically close.. I have tried many things in setup. Trying to exempt these apps from battery management every which way I could figure out. I tried two different auto start and keep alive apps but they get shut off as well after they open. Many apps get closed when the display is off. I want a few apps to remain open all the time. Thank you . [link] [comments]
Google play store is installing random apps. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 03:37 AM PDT I have already disabled background data usage, automatic update on both network and wifi is disabled. It was using my full bandwidth to download google services ar. After I cancel that it started to download other apps. P.S Sorry for the wierd Flair. I sm unable to see it in the app. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Aug 2020 07:03 AM PDT Notifications are not appearing in a manner that I would expect on my Google Pixel 3a phone. When a notification comes in I can hear the notification but it does not display until I swipe down from the top of the screen. This happens when the phone is locked or even when unlocked. I find this quite useless. If a notification comes in I'd like to see it on my screen as iOS does. But there doesn't seem to be a setting for that. And I'm not expecting Android to be iOS or visa-versa. I'm just hoping for a useful user experience. I've double, triple-checked my settings and can't find where any functionality exists that would allow me to do this. Am I wrong? [link] [comments]
Help me pick a device. Samsung or pixel? Posted: 05 Aug 2020 06:37 AM PDT Hello everyone. I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade to the pixel 4 or pixel 4xl. Let me start by saying all my carrier offers are Galaxy's. iPhones and pixels. I'm poor and have to have the payment plan. Just the way it is. So that said. I need to replace my s9 galaxy. I've had it 2years and it's served me well. I even have that fancy digital case they made for it . The charging port is going bad. And I'm going to need to replace it. I do have insurance and could basically replace it for about $100. The issue I have with this. Is it's an aging phone. Yes it's fine for what I do but I am fed up with how hot it gets and how bad it lags and locks up when it's hot. I code and program Abit on my phone so it's on alot. Basically. I can get an a replacement s9. Or any galaxy available now .. s20 uw? Not sure what the UW means yet. S10s are still available but at the cost. I'm better off with newer. Unless the S10 is better than the s20. As I've heard the chips suck now? Or my other option is a Google pixel 4. Now I want a one plus. I wanted oxygenOS. But alas. I can't get that phone. I'm super tempted to get this pixel . If so I'm not sure if I should get the XL or not. I haven't ever had a big phone. I can't seem to find at this moment if the pixel has a headphone jack. Which is a HUGE selling point. As I hate blue tooth headphones and can't afford a good pair. But if the phone is nice enough. I MIGHT buy a budget set of BT phones. Good Lord. I'm sorry for the long post. I hope I can get some insight here. I'm struggling with the purchase. Im disabled so. Money is always tight. Tl:Dr. Replace the s9 for $100.? Get a S10? S20? Note 10? Always wanted a note. Or should I grab the pixel4 or pixel 4 XL? Which is where I'm leaning. Thank you. [link] [comments]
New Samsung 2020 QLED TV doesn't allow 60fps on YouTube. Posted: 05 Aug 2020 05:26 AM PDT The new tv I just got, doesn't seem to allow 60fps on YouTube videos. It makes videos that were supposed to be 60fps, back to 30fps, thereby making them seem choppy, and not so smooth. I wanted to know if this was a problem with my tv, or the YouTube app, and or if anyone had a solution. [link] [comments]
