Why does Samsung put ridiculous amounts of RAM on budget phones but not enough on budget tablets? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 01:22 AM PDT Recently Samsung released the M31s phone in India which is supposed to be a budget phone that the average Indian can afford. The base variant has 6GB of RAM (way more than the average person needs) and priced at $300 which is well above the budget of most Indians. Their only budget tablet offering in India is the 2GB (way too low) variant of Tab A 2019 with a weak Exynos 7904 chip. [link] [comments] |
iPhone user looking to switch to Android. Need help please Posted: 30 Jul 2020 07:43 AM PDT Hi Android community. Like it says in the title, I've been on iOS for a long time and am really considering switching to android. Everything I've heard about Android has always been positive and I feel like now would be a great time to give it a shot. I honestly have never used the OS so it will obviously be a completely new experience for me. I have some questions and would greatly appreciate your help
Thank you so much for your help in advance and I hope everyone is staying safe out there in these unprecedented times. PS I live in USA (not sure if that makes a difference or not) [link] [comments] |

I dont know if the cable was working before or not. But now my phone dosent charge with any cable/adapter/outlet. I think the charging pin in the phone may be bent, but it looks normal. What should i do? [link] [comments] |
Galaxy Note 3 got really hot. Won’t charge or turn on even with new battery. Please help. Posted: 30 Jul 2020 12:16 PM PDT Hi Everyone, I tried to look for other questions like mine and couldn't find anything, hence the post. I have a Samsung galaxy note 3. I think it's SM-N900 model but I'm not 100% sure. I usually charge it overnight and have for years since I got it. About 2 weeks ago I woke up during the night and reached over to check the time. But the screen of the phone was boiling! Like almost too hot to touch. I unplugged the charging cable and it eventually cooled down. But it won't turn on. I've tried it with a few charging cables encase it was those, nothing. I even bought a brand new battery encase the old one overheated and stopped working and nothing. I plug in the cord and usually I get a green battery symbol to say it's charging but nothing at all. I did google 'my phone got hot and won't turn on' and got that it was either the battery or the phone itself. The fact that the screen was the bit that got hot and not the battery, and the fact I've put a new battery in and it doesn't do anything makes me believe the phone itself has gone wrong. The other advice was to 'reset the phone' via holding down the power button for 10 seconds or the power button and the volume button for 10 seconds. I tried both and nothing. I even tried the home button, the home and power, home and volume and then all three buttons and nothing. I'll also just mention I used a volt meter thing to make sure the new battery is working and yes it is. So my question is……. Right now I plug the phone via cable into my computer but my computer won't recognize it as anything, so I can't drag and drop anything off the phone onto the computer. a) Is there a way I can get my computer to recognize it as similar to a USB and access the file storage to drag and drop off my phone to my computer. (only reason I ask this is my sister old iPhone acted like this, it would be accessed just like a USB drive and I managed to drag all the photos off for her a few years ago. If I can do this and save as much data as possible, then that's all I really want) b) Is there anyway I can Frankenstein the phone to get to the internal memory storage/the phones hard drive and somehow get the information off it that way? I understand this may 'break' the phone but right now it's useless so if I can take it apart to get to it's internal hard drive then that is all that matters. I've already figured out the phone is completely broken but if I can salvage any data then I'm happy. I apologize with my wording, I'm not very technical. I'll also just quickly mention, when I had the new battery in and plugged in to see if it would charge. The back of the phone started getting warm. The back cover is off so you can see the battery. I'll try and explain where it got hot. Where you put the battery – there are 4 golden plates on the phone which line up with the 4 golden plates on the top of the battery. Just above that on the phone is where it started getting warm. So I pulled the battery out and unplugged it, computer still didn't recognize it as a device and I'm here begging your help. Please let me know if you need any other information. [link] [comments] |
Is there an antivirus for android that scans your whole fine system? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 12:11 PM PDT I know malwarebytes, avast, and virustotal apps just scan apps/apks. I'm wondering of there is one that will do a full scan of my phone? EDIT: Title should be "file" system [link] [comments] |
Using USB tethering to run a VOIP phone? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 11:54 AM PDT Has anybody tried running a VOIP phone via an Android phone's USB tethering and a usb-c/Ethernet adapter? I'm starting a new job soon that is sending out a phone as part of the equipment they provide, just wondering if I could run from my cell phone. Posted in r/Android originally, but apparently that's not the place to go. [link] [comments] |
Video editor always making file sizes bigger. Posted: 30 Jul 2020 11:47 AM PDT Hello, If I edit a video file with the in-built video editor, it always increases the video size. Even if I want to reduce the quality (from FHD to HD/VGA, etc.) Device: Samsung Galaxy A51, German unlocked Is this a bug, or do I miss something? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2020 11:27 AM PDT As the title says, it simply doesn't work, crashes everytime I launch it. I've tried everything, deleting data, force stopping the app and restarting my phone but it's stuck. Only thing that kinda works is uninstalling app updates, but it doesn't do much, apps and games update section doesn't work and if I'm not in the app it auto updates to the version which is stuck in a crash loop. Anyone got some tips? My phone is Samsung A70 on android 10. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2020 10:09 AM PDT I recently had some issues where my note 9 had become submerged and recovered then I had a flickering issue with the touch screen for a few days. I riced the phone for 4 days and it seems 80% back to normal. I'm reluctant to take it apart due to the glue holding it together but I was thinking if I ran a stress test for a few hours I'd encourage the remaining remnants of liquid to push outwards. Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |

Old photos moved to SD card now showing as "most recent" photos in my list Posted: 30 Jul 2020 09:27 AM PDT I have my phone (Samsung s9) set up so all the photos save to my sd card now. You can't do this with apps like snapchat or WhatsApp so I will manually move those over occasionally to free up storage. I just did so last night and now my pictures are a mess but only on certain apps? Like if I go to attach a photo on Facebook or in a text message, the photos first shown are all the ones I just moved (which are old). But I checked the photos and they do all have the correct date set to them in their details... and they are sorted fine in my actual phone gallery. It's just when trying to attach photos on apps... is there any way to fix this? I just had about 300 old photos/videos now spammed in front of my new stuff. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2020 09:26 AM PDT A way to do this? If I turn on a Bluetooth speaker or headphone it automatically connects which half the time I don't want at all (oneplus 5t android 10) I just use it to check the battery percentage, not to listen most off the time [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2020 08:22 AM PDT I am trying to unlock my family member's phone. They recently passed away, and we do not know their pattern/unlock code. Is it possible to reset it or bypass it using ADB or some kind of app on my pc? [link] [comments] |
Using Xbox One Controller on Android 6 Posted: 30 Jul 2020 08:02 AM PDT Hey everyone! I'm trying to use my Xbox One controller on an old Android phone that's running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Phone is HTC One M8. It's a newer version controller with Bluetooth and 3.5mm headphone jack. I just updated it to the latest firmware version. 4.8.1923.0 It won't connect with an OTG cable (though could be my cable) and if I try and connect via Bluetooth it's says "Unable to Pair" "Couldn't pair with Xbox Wireless Controller because of an incorrect PIN or Passkey". It doesn't allow me to enter a pin or key. It just displays the error and offers the option to cancel or retry. What can I do to get the controller to connect and work on my device? Ideally I want to use it for playing GeForce Now when I'm not in the mood to bust out my laptop. The app runs great on my phone but I couldn't get a DS4 to work so now I'm trying the Xbox controller. AOSP Android and e.foundation are separate things? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 07:35 AM PDT I've been reading about de-googling phones, but couldn't quite understand if there are competing solutions with different privacy protection strategies and implications... All that was clear to me is that the common idea is to remove Google Services and Google Play... [link] [comments] |
App has storage permissions but still gives me error when trying to delete through app Posted: 30 Jul 2020 07:10 AM PDT I'm using a Galaxy S10e with Android version 10 with a 256GB SD card. I have a lot of music media on it and I wanted to delete some of the files but it keeps giving me an error when I try to do so. Looking at the permissions in the settings, I have storage permissions to modify or delete sd card contents, read contents of shared storage and read locations from media collection. When I try to delete it says "Permission required. Please browse and select the root of your memory card to grant delete permission." How do I fix this? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Moto G Power requires an sd reformat every time I restart my phone. Posted: 30 Jul 2020 06:21 AM PDT The problem is basically as the title says. My sd card will work fine for weeks, but as soon as I restart my phone it requires a reformat. Has anyone experienced this issue before? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jul 2020 05:33 AM PDT Hi! I'm having issues to play anything from my Huawei mate 10 lite on my bluetooth speaker. My speaker is a DOSS Soundbox. It was working perfectly, then out of the blue, it paired but nothing came out of it anymore. I checked that the sound was high on both my phone and on the speaker. I tried playing from Spotify, YouTube, Netflix and radios, no sounds were coming out. Then I tried to use different phone (from my friends). I tried with an iPhone, it worked perfectly, with different apps. Then I tried with a similar phone as mine, a Huawei under android, and it worked perfectly. Long story short, my speaker is pairing with my phone, the sound is on on both my phone and the speaker, but no sounds are coming out of the speaker. Could you please help me? Thanks! How to fix storage issues on Moto e5 play? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 03:52 AM PDT Apologies, this is going to sound like a stupid question. I am not very tech savvy. I have a Moto e5 play and am generally very happy with it. I seem to keep running out of storage on the 'device storage' (currently at 14.48 of 15 GB). However, I have a 64 GB SD card. Currently only 3.52 GB is stored on there (seems to be only a few photos and videos. ) How do I move more 'stuff' to the SD card? I'm guessing a lot of this is 'app' files that I can't transfer over for some reason. I don't take many photos. I use Spotify and podcast apps a fair bit. Does anyone have a guide for this? I'm sure I'm not using the correct lingo. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Change grid size for apps folders? Posted: 30 Jul 2020 02:10 AM PDT Hi, I've had to downgrade from my trusty old Galaxy s7 to a Galaxy s6 edge. So far so good, but ive met a visual problem I'd like to correct. On my old S7 I could change the grid size for app folders from 3x3 to 4x4, but I haven't stumbled upon that feature on my S6 edge. Is this a feature at all on the S6 at all, or am I looking for a dead end here? [link] [comments] |
