Carrier Services App - Do I need it? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 06:56 AM PDT Recently switched to Android. I'm using Google Messages and I'm with Vodafone in the UK on a Samsung A71. I've got chat features enabled and I've been able to send RCS messages fine without issue to contacts (only the ones who have the ability to send that is, the rest are SMS). I've seen in the Play Store today an app called Carrier Services. Do I need it? It was not installed on the phone when I got it. Messaging, phone calls and data works without a problem and I can send/receive RCS messages. My question what does the app do and do I need it? It seems like if it was important it would have come pre-installed. [link] [comments] |

Enabling OEM Unlock without Developer Options? Samsung S8 Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:32 AM PDT I have a Samsung S8 SM-G950U, Android 9.0 and OEM Unlock does not appear in my developer options. I've read several guides on how to fix this such as changing the date to make the device think I've had it active for 7 days, but it never appears. I've had the phone for a month anyways so it should be there. Since I couldn't get OEM Unlock to appear but the option should be there on this device, is there any other way to activate OEM Unlock to root my device? I'm not completely new to rooting but I've never successfully rooted a device either so go easy on me with the technical wording. I saw a post somewhere that was a similar question to mine from a year ago, but I don't know what device they were trying to use it for and they never found a solution. [link] [comments] |
SIM Unlock Galaxy S9+ Question Posted: 10 Jul 2020 11:12 AM PDT A friend sold me his S9+, and we went through the process of contacting Sprint to get the phone unlocked as I'm on Verizon. After the rep verified everything, she told us that after 36-48 hours, switch the Sprint SIM card for the Verizon one and go through the setup process and everything would work functionally as she was able to SIM unlock the phone from her end. Does this all sound correct. I haven't had to do this before, so I wanted to make sure that everything was done right. Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] |
Best way to make hidden files? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:16 AM PDT Encrypt using something like EDS lite? Can the files be seen in recent or something if i use that? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:00 AM PDT I'm looking into a Samsung Tab A with 3GB RAM + 128GB ROM (internal) . "Back in the day", ROM was only read access. Does this definition of 128GB ROM really mean that it acts like an SSD, so internal memory (not counting the SD card) is 128GB? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 Jul 2020 09:21 AM PDT It's as embarrassing as it sounds. I need help. I've contacted a few "hackers" and I just can't come up with the amount that they charge. Not that these geniuses don't deserve it, because I'm sure that that do! My fiancé is different? I can't even think of another word. He's usually a very sweet, hardworking and compassionate person. But for the past month or so he has become very short tempered. Sleeping very little and now hiding his phone. He is a recovering addict and his behavior when he used is very similar to now. Please help me!!!! I have bought spyware but I can not access his phone. [link] [comments] |
How to move storage to SD card? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 09:14 AM PDT I want to move my storage, I'm on Android 10. My phone has 32GB and I added a 64 GB. Plz help [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jul 2020 05:14 AM PDT I got the display of my android phone replaced by a third party service recently and all is good besides that theres a small line of yellow on the bottom near the charging port. Its not that big and doesnt bother me much since its almost not visible unless the screen is white. My question is,is there an easy way to fix it and is it somehow bad for the phone,e.g. does it indicate a serious problem that could affect the performance at one point in the future? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Confirming Samsung Galaxy A50 (A505UZ) works well with Mint Mobile Posted: 10 Jul 2020 05:07 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm finally taking the leap and leaving Apple behind! Before I purchase a new Galaxy A50 found on Samsung's website, I wanted to confirm that this model/version of the phone works well with Mint Mobile. Here are the phone's network capabilities found on the site... 2G GSM GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900 3G UMTS B1(2100), B2(1900), B5(850), B8(900) 4G FDD LTE B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B12(700), B13(700), B20(800), B25(1900), B26(850), B28(700), B66(AWS-3), B71(600) I am worried because a lot of sites (previous Reddit posts) so you HAVE to get the A505G version for it to work well with Mint...but comparing this to the following Reddit post, it looks like it would work .... "Having a LTE compatible phone is very important, without it, your service will be horrible, All those phones will work on Mint, you just need to get the correct version. T-Mobile LTE operates on bands 2,4,5,12,66,71 (band 5 isn't important, it's just used in South Carolina). Just make sure whatever model phone you get has most of those bands (2,4,12 at a minimum) and you'll be fine. " It sounds like it would work, but I want to confirm with someone who knows more. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Which chipset to avoid in 2020? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 08:46 AM PDT I not very technically, so I prefer ELI5 on all the processor options for Android & a brief on why is Samsung's Exynos so bad? Are there any Exynos models that I should consider? I just have a limited experience of Note 8. Mine is a Exynos model while a friend has a Snapdragon models. Hers has longer battery and doesn't get heated quickly. Didn't do a test with benchmark apps, just used the device for the same task side by side to compare. I am not a gamer or using mobile to watch movies. My basic use of mobile is maps for navigation, email, IM, read news & twitter, watch some youtube videos. Any chip that is focused on "non-gaming" uses? In my area, 5G will take ages. Only recently I started getting proper 4G. I did read the wiki on processors & the FAQ. It was rather general and didn't show a "must avoid" list. I do see in reviews stating the a specific model of chipset is bad/not recommended. So, I am lead to assume that some models of chipset was a failed model. Also which are the "too old" or "too energy inefficient" in 2020. I want to search for options via Gsmarena's Phonefinder, I want to put in all the chipsets to look for. I am not looking for cutting edge, I want something with all bugs ironed out and reliable. Can a smartphone turn on with it's wireless antennas removed? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 11:35 AM PDT What about microphones and speakers? I was just wondering if this is even possible? I have been searching for a while and I haven't found an answer. Snowden did it to an old iphone. Is this possible with any phone? [link] [comments] |
Can you connect two USB wired game controllers to one Android device? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:48 AM PDT I'm using an Android box running Android 9.0, and I'm just wondering if I could hook up two wired controllers simultaneously and use them for multiplayer games. I've tried using one PS4 controller via Bluetooth and one Logitech F310 wired controller at the same time, and that works great. Now I'm trying to see if I can get up to three or four controllers working at the same time. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:28 AM PDT I bought an LG G7 off of eBay recently, and while I generally enjoy the phone, something has been driving me nuts. There is a small area near the center of the screen with black pixels. Initially I thought they were dead, but upon zooming in with a microscope, it seems all of the subpixels still emit some amount of light, meaning they aren't dead. The blotch is also not bound by subpixels, but rather is an amorphous spot. Additionally, the device has a major corner ding at the top left, but the glass is in near-perfect condition. This leads me to believe the glass has been replaced, and that the individual doing the repair did not properly clean the LCD or glass before applying LOCA, pressing the glass on, and curing it. Is my assumption of the botched repair attempt feasible and is there anything I can do about it without initiating a return? [link] [comments] |
Please help me install old version of an app in android. Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:27 AM PDT My bank's android app is becoming crappier on every update - more animatory advertisement about its own "offers" and less ease of use. So I searched and installed an old version of it. Now the app on launch says "this app is not downloaded from play store. Please download...". Can I circumvent this issue? My machine is Poco F1 with AOSiP custom ROM (android 10). Rooted with magisk installed. I had no issue running the mobile app in this device before. TIA [link] [comments] |
Galaxy S9+ Adaptive Brightness Not Triggering Posted: 09 Jul 2020 08:56 PM PDT For the longest time my auto brightness has been very finicky, in that the light in my environment has to drastically change in order to elicit any kind of brightness adjustment from the phone. And even then, sometimes coming from a brightly lit kitchen to my pitch black bedroom at night, my phone still stays at its original brightness of 80% or whatever it was in the other room. It's only when I tap to disable adaptive brightness then tap again to enable it does it adjust correctly. I've tried clearing memory and restarting who knows how many times to no avail. Any ideas on how to get this working again? [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth tethering between PC and Android phone Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:25 AM PDT I want to use my company's unrestricted internet at workplace and where i work there is no cellular signal available. But there is PCs and a mobile of the company at the workplace which connected to internet all the time .Company also provide internet for personnel but it has data limitations. If i connect to wifi and use my given username and pass, i will use my quoted internet. But if i share internet from companiy's PCs or mobile phone and connect to them i will get unlimited data since they connected to wifi with unique username and passes that have no restrictions.I used connectify to create hotspot from company's PCs and it can create hotspot even though hotspotting disabled by ITs. Problem is i dont want to broadcast a wifi hotspot network , it should be hidden, i dont want others to see there is some hotspot internet sharing going on. So i thought i can create bluetooth hotspot which has coverage enough to let me access it and also it can be thought as some personnel broadcasting for its devices. So bluetooth safer for me to use as hotspot. I can do it on company's mobile phone(android) and i can disable certain notifications and boom. No one suspect shit. But i want to do this on PCs because mobile is not with me all the time and i am always near the PCs. I want to create bluetooth hotspot on PC and connect with my phone to access internet. I already bought usb bluetooth dongle to stick to PCs. Problem starts right here. When android phone (company's phone for example) connect to wireless and share its internet via bluetooth, another bluetooth paired android phone(my personal phone for example) can connect to internet effortlessly. So i am trying with my Laptop at home to create bluetooth network between my phone and my PC , i couldnt get to share internet with phone. I set my current internet on " Network and Sharing center - Change adapter settings " page , and set it "SHARED" with " Bluetooth Network Connection". Everything looks fine on PC side. But phone have no internet. I have ROOTed phone so i am open for suggestions. I couldnt find any solutions so far. It looks so weird to me that Windows 10 is not capable to do what any android phone can. How can 1 android can use other androids internet but android cant use internet of a PC with Windows 10. I was expecting some small software could do trick (which almost always there is some not well known software for everything ) but internet couldnt helped me.Also while i was searching i found Phones Bluetooth PAN (Personal Area Network) function is not available on all the phones. Even if it is the case , isnt there anyway to use it or make it available with root access. If its not possible, how can 1 android use other androids internet over bluetooth then. Is it impossible for windows to imitade this ? [link] [comments] |
Has anyone encountered this Google Maps Issue? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:13 AM PDT Apologies in advance if this is not the right subreddit, I'm happy to move it to a more appropriate location. Basically, the GPS on my phone works with any application that needs it, except for Google Maps (and Waze). Even when I use those apps, it will find my location and plot a route, but once I start navigation the cursor won't auto-update as I drive. On Waze I get a message saying that the GPS signal has been lost. I've tried restarting my phone, clearing the system cache partition, making sure my GPS uses High Accuracy mode, and making sure that both apps have unrestricted access to data and battery power. This issue affects both my personal and work phones (Samsung Galaxy A70, and Samsung Galaxy S8) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jul 2020 09:53 AM PDT So there's this "X Google enrollment" app showing up in my recently used apps, why is it there and should I be worried? Image: https://imgur.com/a/tYmdj50 [link] [comments] |
