[DEV] My little game about sauna and saying goodbye

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 10:47 PM PDT

Hi y'all. I'm a 30-something game dev hobbyist from Finland. As a stereotypical shy Finnish guy I naturally suck at 'self promotion' and this is quite painful but anyway decided to give it a go :)

So I created this little game https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Pohjolaakso.SaunaLikeIts1979 about Finnish sauna culture and mentality. I also added some narrative elements that are at least partly pulled straight out of my own life. What I wanted to make is a short game that conveys somewhat melancholic but still hopeful atmosphere. But I also wanted to keep the narrative mostly optional so player can just focus on the light puzzle / survival elements if player wants to do that.

I have been developing small Unity demos and games for a few years now. This is my first game that has some narrative in it I guess. I used some asset store assets in the game but a huge portion I did by myself. I also did the music by the way :)

I truly hope people like it, or at least appreciate the effort, but I also want to improve! I want to keep adding new features etc. so that is the main reason I am posting this here. Please feel free to suggest improvements, fixes and features that could make the game better :) All help is much appreciated.

    a very old game

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 04:12 AM PDT

I have no idea if this is the right subreddit for this but I'm gonna do this anyway. in 2014 I found this game on the play store called Cats Online. basically you were a cat and you could roleplay with other cats in this basic, two dimensional world. you could also place these bright yellow blocks and people would use them to make houses or build staircases. you could also transform into a car. my sister and I loved this game. the last I saw it was still in the play store, but was unplayable. today I looked it up and it looked like it had gotten taken down. I went to look up the game on google, but nothing showed up. just other cat games. it's like it had never existed in the first place. now, I have no idea if it's still up in the apple store, but most likely it's not. now, I'm making this post to see if anyone else has ever played this game before. and it wasnt just some weird memory I made up.

Long time android gamer. With Stadia finally on mobile I am now looking for the most minimalistic, quite, small form factor Bluetooth Controller. It must have two analog sticks!

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 10:45 AM PDT

Anyone got any ideas? I have the 8bido controller that looks like a NES controller, but with control sticks. It's great, but its still just a little too big...

I'm using it for the office. I want to be stealth gaming... Under the table. So it must be quiet! Im open to trying new forms as well, finger mounted or gesture based wrist bracelet. I'd just like something reliable and not obvvious

    Save files on multiple devices

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 06:55 AM PDT

Hello, I am kind of new to Android gaming.

I was thinking of buying a few old school crpg.

I have several Android devices (phone, Chromebook, tablet), all using the same PlayStore account.

My question might be stupid... but, can I switch devices and keep playing from my last save? If yes how?

Does anyone get overwhelmed at the amount of games they have and dont know what to play?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 01:05 PM PDT

I have like 20 something games I like.. which took years to find through all the trash in the play store.

But every time I look at my game launcher I just cant pick one. If I ever do I get anxious and bored after 5 mins.

Would be so nice to just be able to ffff pick one and play it.

How do you overcome it and get your brain wired to focus more?

    [REQUEST] Arpg for phone

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 09:48 AM PDT

Hi, I'm looking for an arpg to play on my phone, something along the lines of grim dawn or Diablo or last epoch. I looked at a lot of games and they all are either riddled with micro transactions, or bad or very bad. Oh and I looked at Titan quest and i didn't like it

    The key features should be

-Pleasing graphics, I mean half of the game I played had bad "realistic" graphics. I'm not looking for top notch visuals just for something we'll done and pleasing. Even some kind of 8bit, or Pokémon emerald graphic would be good.

-build variety, like the aforementioned games I love having multiple-choice for each skill and class

-good longevity, maybe not longevity in the main story but good replaybility is good.

-last but not least, I'm looking for something responsive, with good ui and good controls.

Edit: while I hate games that forces you into mtx, I don't mind buy to play games.

Games that have a cross platform account?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 08:30 AM PDT

Looking for games or even apps that have cross platform accounts like Catan Universe.

I collect the daily coins on Amazon, get free credit on Google and I want to spend either on the same game.

    Any suggestions?

PvP game that does not need moving in 3D space using 2 thumbs?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 05:58 AM PDT

    Hi,

So, I am not used to having controls on screen at all. Even with vibrations, it just doesn't work for me. So, moving in 3D space with dual joystick style movement is a bit of a bother.

I am trying to find games that do not need two thumbs. E.g. PUBG or COD or Grid Autosport don't work. Same problem with emulation. I can play games like temple run though. I prefer controls designed for touch, rather than the games that emulate dual stick controller on touch.

Genre/type etc are secondary to me, although I prefer tycoon games for their simple controls. Obviously, like everyone else, games that allow free download with one time IAP is preferred, but I don't mind paying a few bucks.

Recent games that I played were pocket city and polytopia. Honestly can't remember any other game from the last year. Life is strange, Pubg, COD, Grid, Elder Scrolls Blades, all of them had same "use fake 2 joysticks and press buttons at the same time" problem.

With all that in mind, what games will you suggest I should try? Turn based or real time multiplayer is preferred, but single player games are always welcome.

Oh yeah, I also tried most of this sub's favorites like monument valley, motorsports manager etc and have already finished them few times.

Need help remembering name of game

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 05:45 AM PDT

I remembered finding this really great online ww2 game on mobile with tank and planes with tech trees you could research and everything, stopped playing it for a year and now I can't remember what it was called. Since it had really few downloads compared to other games it's really hard to find it by simply mashing in keywords in the google play search bar. Something really specific about it was that you could play as an anti-aircraft gun.

If anyone has any idea what this game may have been called please could you comment it down below, thanks in advance!

    Date a Live: Spirit Pledge

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 10:08 PM PDT

I played it for a few hours and it's basically a 2D honkai impact 3rd with a visual novel storyline, there's stamina and gacha but no autoplay. Combat is pretty fun it literally feels like a 2D honkai impact including the 3 character switch on the battlefield. Story is awkward because you're "Dating" anime girls to save them and the world....uhhh art is decent and music too.
