Why are we not seeing root/bootloader unlocks anymore? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:07 AM PDT I really dislike the descisions from manufactorers to lock their bootloaders, prevent rooting etc. On some phones its possible, but what happened to the more wider android phones? On iOS, universal jailbreaks are released that are not patchable by software. I miss the days where this happened to android, it's been years since i feel we had some serious exploit hunters in the space. [link] [comments]

Imagine a Samsung Note 9 SE, would you buy? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 09:40 PM PDT If Samsung pulls an Apple, and did an SE of the Note 9 Same everything, except they put in the fastest Snapdragon at the time and swap out the Telephoto Lens for an Ultrawide. Same headphone jack, wireless charging, IP rating, S Pen, 4000mah battery and all 8GB 256GB $699 Comes out 2021 April (same 2 year and a half after the original one) The price should be made possible by reusing the same design, a manufacturing process that they have streamlined since the note 8 (only slight modification from note 8 to 9). Although I don't think they can get it as low as apple did at 399 because Apple has used that same design for 3-4 generation and the fact that my note 9 SE is just straight up more tech. So $699 seem to make sense. But the problem is Samsung can't really sell you services after luring you in with a cheaper phone like apple can. What do you think? [link] [comments]
