My phone's touch system has officially gone insane, and I need urgent help.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 06:13 AM PDT

It doesn't respond to my touch, and when it does, whenever I try to do something, it does 5-10 other completely different things. For example, I tried going into settings, but it somehow registered me going into messages and typing 10 different symbols. I've tried cleaning the screen with water-soaked, and then alcohol-soaked cotton, but nothing worked. Should I take it to service, or would buying a touch screen pen suffice? Also, would putting a paper mask over it do anything?

    Is Mediatek kernel available nowadays?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 01:44 AM PDT

Snapdragon has the best dev support because of they release their kernel resource regularly. I'm out dated about Mediatek. I knew before that Mediatek didn't release their kernel resource. I'm curious to know their present situation. Do they release kernel resources nowadays?

I need a cheap Verizon serviced phone strictly to send text messages for work. Explanation below..

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 07:33 AM PDT

I have an Android phone and it's a Sprint phone. I have no problem sending or receiving calls or texts outside of the building that I work at. However, I work in an highly technical building in a college and do security for that building. We are dependent upon fast texting and I work alongside a cop in that building. We have group texts and many times I have to send my boss independent texts as well. I could call her (which works most of the time on my phone) but she is constantly in meetings, therefore the ability to quick text when a security threat happens is imperative. My phone lags when sending and receiving texts at my job.

It just so happens that all of my co-workers have Verizon phone networks. I even talked to the tech guy in my building and he told me that a lot of people with different networks like Sprint or T-Mobile have problems texting or calling in this building. All I need is a cheap phone (doesn't need internet capability). All my phone needs is the ability to send texts quickly and in a group text that would be powered by Verizon. What is the cheapest route to solve this problem? I think even a cheap flip phone would work.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 05:27 AM PDT

On my mother's Galaxy J7 Prime. The Recently Used Apps is always empty. I've tried rebooting twice. Still nothing, disabled voice assistant, still nothing. What else can I do? And will the apps be killed since they're not appearing in the recently used apps? Please help.

How to customise Open by Default/Open supported links?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 12:30 PM PDT

I want an app to open only some selected supported links by default. If it is possible, how do I do that? For example, I want ImgurViewer to open only imgur, gfycat links by default and not instagram links.

    Thanks in advance

    SD Card problem

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 12:02 PM PDT

Hello reddit! This going to be a long one so please bear with me.

I've ran out of storage on my 16gb phone and decided to buy a 64gb sd card. I closed my phone, mounted it, reopened my phone and saw two options. Format as internal storage and use as external storage. Since I wanted more space for my apps I went for format. It asked me to move 4gb of data to SD Card, I chose move now and 6 minutes later got a text saying it is ready. Then I went to Storage-Settings and saw that my Internal storage is still full, but there is also 8gb data in the SD Card. It said moving 4gb, but phone didn't move anything, it just created more data. Then I decided to move some media from internal storage to sdcard, so I launched my file manager but lo and behold, I only see internal storage and it says 56gb free out of 80. When I try to move folders from inside of it there is no move to SD option because it is all merged as one. Yet when I go to Storage I see that internal storage is full. To test and see if I can download any apps I went into play store and tried to download a heavy game. That's when I got the "make more space" error.

So what was the point of buying this sd card if I can't install apps or move my photos/videos into it. Worst part is even if I format it as external storage, there are 4gb of app data, 3gb of media (which I don't know where they came from) in the sd card and I don't know which apps they are or how to move them back to a full internal storage without losing everything during format.

Any help would be appreciated. I am using Android 9 if it helps.

Edit : When I go to storage and click on sd card I see only 3 options: rename, eject, format as portable. There is no move media or other option.

Lost parrot audio recording? (Of my grandmother's funeral)

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 10:21 AM PDT

I just left the funeral service of my grandmother. I was very close, I gave a touching speech that even the funeral home director said was special, and many others said wonderful things. I had my sister videotape my speech, but I neglected to ask her to record the whole thing just in case so I had an extra copy.

So I turned parrot on to record the audio at the start of it, and left it on the whole time. At then end, just as I was going to end the recording and save it, I got a spam call. I have automatic call recording on (since I needed to keep track of what doctors and social workers said in the end of her life) and it started recording that. Even though I didn't pick the call up.

I got the normal screen to save the recording, and gave it a name. I clicked the check, but the recording never showed up.

I'm kinda very sad and upset about this. This is such a sad occurance on top of everything else. Any idea where it might be? Would a copy be stored in /tmp or something? I can't connect to my phone for debugging for several hours until I get home, so now I'm agonizing about it. What can I do? I'm afraid to do a lot of things in case they clear the cache.

    Phone display problem.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 09:43 AM PDT

My friend recently gave me his phone ( Sony Xperia XZ1) and it has a little problem.

The screen turns off as soon as android boots. The screen looks normal while the os is booting, colors look normal. If the phone is off and i put it on the charger, little icon pops up to let me know it is charging and I can look at it as much as I want, but as soon as the phone boots there is a fraction of a second where it is on (I can see the lock screen) and then it goes completely off. Other than that the phone works normally. I thought it was a software problem, so I hard reset the phone and it did not help.

If you could somehow help me discover a problem I would be really thankful :)

No Notifications When Using Data - Phone Works Fine on WiFi - Galaxy S8

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 05:17 AM PDT

For around a month, my S8 has stopped giving me notifications when I am connected to mobile data. Internet is still working as if I open an app, I can use it as normal. When I reconnect to a WiFi network, all notifications that should have appeared over the last few hours suddenly come flooding in.

I have followed all advice from the network provider (three in the UK) and after a factory reset did not solve the issue, they sent me to Samsung. Samsung are saying I can pay for a repair but I am not convinced this is a device issue rather than a network one.

I am missing work emails and messages as a result of this. Any help would be great! Thanks

How can I fix faulty software on phone after 3rd party repair?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 03:45 AM PDT

Several months ago, I damaged my Galaxy S8 phone, which was fortunately insured. I sent it off for repair and when I got it back I noticed a few issues with the software.

I've tried to set up Google Pay, but I get an error saying "This phone can't be used to pay in shops. This may be because it is rooted or altered in some other way."I am also unable to install Netflix, an app which I had no issues with on my previous phone. When I try to install the app, it says "Your device isn't compatible with this version".

Screenshots of these errors can be seen here.

I contacted the company and they said to send it back, but ultimately I never got round to it and it is too late now.

Does anyone know what the issue is and how can I resolve it?

    Thank you

Screen Sharing from Note 8 (Display or Camera) to Galaxy Tab A 9.7 (x-post from r/GalaxyTab)

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 07:24 AM PDT

So I have a Note 8 and an older Galaxy Tab A running Android 7.1.1. Is there anyway I can share my phone's camera or display to my Galaxy Tab A's screen? I was hoping to use Samsung Flow as I do to share my phone to my laptop, but Samsung Flow does not work on Android 7.1.1.

Am I out of luck? Would I have to buy a newer tablet to make this work? Would that even make it work?

    Photo backup to multiple accounts

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 06:56 AM PDT

Could anyone direct me to the answer to the question?

I DO NOT want my personal photos backed up to my work account. I clicked "back up to a separate account, " but it's still shows my personal pictures when I switch my account to my work one in Google photos. it's funny because it's not all pictures and it's not all the time. How do I fix this without signing out of my work account on my personal phone altogether?

Volume buttons not working. Feezing when trying to change volume in Sound settings.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 06:36 AM PDT

Pretty much what the title says. I have a rooted Pixel 2 XL running Magisc. Suddenly, the volume buttons do not change the volume at all. The slider moves up and down, but the audio volume remains the same. It does not get any louder or quieter. I tried adjusting the volume directly from the Settings > Sound, but the moment I touch a slider, it freezes and the Settings app crashes.

I tried downloading a third party volume control app and the app also freezes and crashes the moment I open it.

I've had this problem before, but it went away after I updated the Android version. Right now I am using the latest version.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Android 7.0 Battery Issue

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 04:56 AM PDT

    Hello there!

I have issue with my 2 years old tablet with android 7.0 os on board. My issue is not reliable battery procentage. It jumps from 40 to 0 without any warning. It got on my nerves when after it turned off quickly on 76% and started to restart over and over again

Can you guys give me some advice where to start digging? Is it software or hardware issue in your opinion? Some useful apps to analyze that problem?

It happens also after factory reset. It hadn't been rooted or modified

Is there a way to change app icons of the actual apps?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 04:44 AM PDT

I've seen many apps on Google that let u change icons but it let's u make shortcut of that "edited/new iconed" and not an actual change of the app entirely.

Does anyone else use the ZTE Axon M?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 04:02 AM PDT

I have the US ZTE Axon M with 4GB of RAM, and after installing my Launcher and basic apps, I tend to have about 1GB of RAM free, and I feel like when it gets to that point, the phone starts to slow down a lot.

I'm considering seeing if I can get my hands on the Chinese version with 6GB of RAM, and I also hear it's on Android 8 instead of 7. But I'm not sure if that'll necessarily fix the problems, if the Chinese instead of English will be a problem, or if running Android 8 instead of 7 will be a problem.

If anyone has any information or experience with this phone, please, let me know!
