[DEV] A friend and I have been working on an idle zombie RPG for a year ( Android & iOS )

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 07:01 AM PDT

My view on the android gaming scene since owning a switch.

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 11:51 PM PDT

    Let the ramble commence....

I was recently fortunate enough to be able to get a switch. I have been considering it for some time and it was mainly for breath of the wild. I knew it wouldn't be cheap but I had some expendable income and made the leap, bought one from Nintendo with that game and a few others.

Now, I have a few games on android that I saw were on the nintendo e-shop.

I will point out now, I don't have a lot of time to play games and I do have a small amount of expendable income, I am also very happy to pay for a game if the value for money is right for me. For example, completing breath of the wild in it's entirety can take up to 100 hours, and for a 50-60 quid game, to me that is good value for money.

Now back to my main point, switch games compared to android games. I have terraria, swords of ditto and a few kairosoft games, also this war of mine on android. I thought it may be nice to support the devs and also have them available to play on my switch as well.

Then I started seeing the price variance between switch and android

Most kairosft games come in at 11.99 on the switch compared to 4.29 on android for what is the same game with adapted controls for switch

This war of mine (complete edition) 35.00 on switch, price on android with addons, around 18.00

Swords of ditto on switch 13.49, on android 5.99

portal knights on switch 14.99, on android 4.99

terraria on switch 24.99, on android 4.59

Now in most cases, these are the exact same game ported between platforms.

Point 1 : I don't know who dictates the price, if it is nintendo or the dev's

Point 2 : I will be less likely to moan about the price of games on Android.

Now I also appreciate a lot of this is relative, if you cannot afford a £5 andoird game, that's all there is to it. But I don't think it is always reasonable to complain about value for money or the cost of android games conceptually.

£5.00 for an android game is not expensive, £25 for the same game is expensive.

Quite often on the sub, people say. xxx is too expensive for an android game.

I guess it would be good to differentiate between games for android being expensive (they aren't) and ensuring that it can be defined that either, 'I don't have the money', or 'the game is not interesting enough for me to pay that much'.

Games built purely around the minigames of Gardenscapes.

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 04:01 AM PDT

As many of you are likely aware, Gardenscapes (and other -scapes clones by the same company) has blatantly false advertising. This is also prevalent with their game Fishdom, which is fun to some degree. I just discovered an ad for Hero Wars with the same ad. Many reviews are by upset gamers who felt misguided by the ads, because all they ever show is the minigames. Where you slide stuff around to save your person from certain death. Any game that actually utilises this playstyle as a base game mechanic? I'm not interested in playing "Candy Crush" copycats honestly.

So, why is no one playing Marvel Super War?

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 08:35 AM PDT

I can't put to words how good this MOBA is.. I still haven't played WR, but i cant say for sure that its the best Moba that everyone can play as of now. Much better than ML and AOV..

You guys should DEFINITELY try it out.

    Games with genuine progression?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 05:24 PM PDT

    Heya

Getting sick of mobile games where all progression is either none existent unless you buy microtransactions, or so unbearably drawn out in order to force you to pay to have any sort of accomplishment.

Does anyone know of any games which have a genuine progression that is achievable through gameplay without making you want to pull out your eyes?

E.G Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery makes all special events unnecessarily long and energy intensive that I'm convinced it's impossible to unlock everything without paying unless you don't miss a beat and set alarms for when your energy is back so you can instantly use it again. Fuck that game.

Just bought don't starve, Terraria, etc.... Recommendation?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2020 09:12 PM PDT

I'm going on a mobile game spending spree because my laptop broke (rip) so far I have Don't Starve (including shipwrecked), Balder's Gate, Terraria, and Lucid Dreams... I'm looking for good games for me to mindlessly zone out to and be able to switch between easily. I have ADHD and schizoaffective so I have a hard time focusing! Sos!

I'm interested in a decent city or village builder (think Kingdom? But without monsters?) I also enjoy good horror! Or perhaps something else in the Klei Entertainment genre?

    Any help is appreciated thanks!

Is there any mobile games that could be similar to a seemingly Roblox-exclusive genre (multiplayer tycoons)

    Posted: 26 Jun 2020 12:39 AM PDT

I'm new here, and I was wondering if anyone has ever came across anything like it. I can try explain as best as possible to those never unfamiliar with these games.

Roblox is a gaming platform that anyone can make games that are often made for multiplayer; meaning some genres exist solely in these sandbox games like MC and Total Miner Forge.

But something I'd been fond of when I used to play 8 years ago was War Tycoons (or just normal tycoons, but mobile idle tycoons are designed to be virtually endless, and thus, unsatisfying)

People would design a game where you'd spawn your avatar in the middle of a safe zone, or battle field (generally a battlefield but maps were generally big enough to prevent spawn killing) and you'd had to run to one of up to twelve bases and claim it as your very own.

Once you owned it, you had to purchase your first "dropper" which drops a 'cash' block that makes money through a conveyer belt, to then you'd eventually spend to make your base into having walls, a owner only door, and then.. Weapons.

These games only really last a full play session of 1-4 hours where you just build your own wealth to fight everyone but I never seen a mobile game like it. Closest there is would be Clash of Clans genre but not really since you couldn't actively fight in these games.

td;lr Looking for a mobile game that functions as a multiplayer sandbox tycoon, but with actually you fighting instead of games like Clash of Clans

would love to make this a small mobile game once i fully learned programming and such in college
